I honestly don't get "events" in this game. They're all unbound randomness with no intention of giving the rewards to people who show up every day for it.
The one thing F2P players are guaranteed in the giftmas event is the 20% afk gains reward. If you grind the 50 gifts and spin the wheel every day, you'll get enough event points to buy the afk gains. The other stuff requires some amount of RNG or p2w.
@@kaybrarian I don't mind spending, but I don't want to spend for a chance to get/not get something. You could drop 200 on this event and not get the 16 storage slots or the nametag. The unlocks are a tad more reasonable where most of them aren't that useful except for the afk gains which is easy enough to get f2p. Even there tho, it'd be nice if f2p got more of the unlocks for showing up every day.
It didn't used to be this way. They used to be entirely free and easy to do to get a nice load of gems and cool unique boost foods and took maybe an hour at most to get the drops per day. But the greed slope has been ever steady. Post pets idleon is night and day compared to pre w3 idleon in development
Events before this were all guaranteed to drop the name tag after a certain amount of presents opened. Even gem amount seems alot lower. Idk, it does kinda feel like a slap in the face. I personally dont care anymore as im far enough into the endgame. Just leaves a sour taste that lava continues to go down this heavy rng route and hes blatantly doing it for the money. I still enjoy the shit out of this game, as it is simply the best idle/grinder game around though, so oh well.

Lava started out as the kind friendly 'one of us' devs, but as the game has gone on everything over time has shifted to be more and more about monetising it. Upgrades became more powerful and much more expensive, things like the 3d printer upgrades are effectively mandatory. Premium items that instead of giving very minor bonuses started giving huge game changing buffs and they even have their own equipment slots. This came to a huge 180 from the initial anti- corporate greed mentality with the release of one of the worst gacha mechanics to exist with the pets. Doot is such an insane bonus that it effectively makes 2 entire mechanics stronger and fully automatic, and those mechanics required full attention of a large part of your characters. And pets were advertised as tradeable. I guess soon guys no worries. I still enjoy the game, but the passion I had for it has slowly been eroded down bit by bit with each passing year.
Yeah the game went full P2W when pets came out, since then it's been a year long streak of weaponizing FOMO. The most recent event making it even more clear considering that the previous event's bonuses aren't available for purchase. I skipped the equinox bonus last time because I had it maxed out(same with the penguins), now that it's relevent again well... Tough shit, now I'll be MONTHS behind at the very least so ofc players will spend to make sure they have all 4 bonuses. I got lucky and got 4 of the name tags with the one gem 10 spins and the one spin a day but it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. All of this for not so weekly updates, more like a fundraiser than a fun christmas event.
I am a F2P player, so at the end of the day, I will never catch up to those who spends. As for the upgrades so far, I got pretty lucky and fell on the 10pts once and 5pts twice. I grabbed the villager EXP and the AFK gains, and I'll probably let the printer multi go past me unless I miraculously get the 45 points for it. I might also add that I view this game as a single player game and I don't bother comparing myself to others. Although your IE reviews are super useful since I might have missed some things.
Events are supposed to be FUN.. They're supposed to be a thank you to the players. He has somehow managed to ruin events by adding fomo and monetization. It's very disappointing!
i have only spent money on autoloot and actually liked this event. I got the 20% afk gains, the good name tag and storage slots. The free gems everyday have helped me buy more printer slots and upgrade my forge a little.
As a F2P player (with autoloot) I don’t care where other people are in the game. I enjoy playing the game my way. However, during the event I got the snowman nametag and unlocked pocket divinity. Holy crap, I can see now how the p2w players have it so easy, and why they get lazy. They don’t have to work to get better.
I spent like 10k on spins and i was there everyday to get the free spin but STILL didnt got the nametag and on discord i see people pulling 2 tags f2p this is just bulshit lava should do a pitty like we had 30 days time if you got 20 spins it will gurantee you a tag but maybe im wrong i just want 1!!!!! tag
I got 4 and I'm still mad about it, especially since after the event it'll be "gOnE fOrEvEr!" Nothing should be exclusive to time limited events or paywalled when we have the slab including event items

Bought 60 spins and didnt get anything until 40 spins, then got 2 chests within 10 spins but still no name tag...
