Get Started In The Music Industry | They're Lying To Us

  • Getting started in the music industry can be intimidating. Especially when we've been lied to for years about how to start a music career. The music industry wants to keep the creators as uneducated as possible especially when it comes to marketing so that they can sell us the dream, keep our earnings, and leave us in the dark with how they do it. I had a depressing wake up call when I was first getting started over ten years ago and since then I've positioned myself to be in control of my opportunities, earnings, and happiness. I needed to make this video to address some myths and to show you what can be possible in your life with music. Enjoy!

    I don’t care about fancy cars, clothes, big ol house-unless I need that space for music. None of that motivates me. What motivates me is being able to be in complete control of my time while making a living-also being financial independent-out of what I enjoy doing rather it be music or any other business endeavors. Building my dream home studio from music is really what i can imagine :D As i'm living in the less-earning part of the world, its really hard to buy the equipment i'd love to and spend as much on marketing as i'd love to. Also hard to take opportunities like your masterclass what i'd love to do. I dont want a 4 bedroom house, a simple 3 room house with one bedroom, a living room and a studio would be perferct for me. Dont need a 100k usd car either, a simpler hybrid would do. But having a life where i can make a living of what i love the most, making music and traveling around Europe to live performances that would be absolutely amazing. I hope you dont get me wrong, didnt wanna complain, just telling my truth.

I always wanted to live off the music so talked to my wife and she supported my idea. 3 yrs later, I am blessed to say that I’ve been doing music for a living for these past years. I even have a savings account, something that I just couldn’t have before (idk why). I have been able to spend more time with my wife and 2 kids, something that I didn’t have time before since I was working a lot. So, they are the reason I wake up every morning. Adam, I've watching your videos for a while now. You are an inspiration so first of all thank you for that. Creative Freedom is what matters the most to me, I can say I have a good financial situation because I have my own business and I am lucky I found the way to build this for myself. I am 29 years old and this business has always been part of my plan to get the time to make music full time and put it out there, its going great so far but I now struggle because I don't have enough time to make the amount of music I want. My business is consuming a lot of time everyday, but I am really trying to make time now for my music. Anyways I just wanted to say thanks man and tell you that your videos really inspired me to get things going! Greetings from Argentina!

    I really appreciate the video. In one move you put so much into perspective for me, I had to subscribe. My drive is waking up to the opportunity of seizing the day and creating something from a tiny idea.

    It's music or nothing for me. If my career doesn't take off soon ENOUGH, I'm not too sure where I'll end up. Could go back to drugs, or worse. Music is the only thing I've EVER wanted to do. It's not some phase, it's not me trying to be cool. It's a life long passion of mine. I have the drive, I definitely have the talent. I just gotta get my foot in the door.

    I always thought that if my music was good enough, I would bust into the industry. After a few years of grinding I realized its more of a marketing, social media grind. Anyone else relate?

      100%. Pushing anything online right now, including music, is a marketing game. Attention and visibility matter a lot, which is why they comedy skits on IG and short vids are poppin. People like the constant content and it's easy for them to consume

    • @SeanStaxxMusic
      @SeanStaxxMusic 5 років тому +1

      Keea Kevin for real bro. It makes me wanna do some comedy meme shit to get poppin a little bit and then promote my music to my fan base as it grows. I just feel like that would be selling out right?

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  5 років тому

      Sure, since I've been doing this for almost 13 years here's a video from 2016 addressing someone just like you ua-cam.com/video/R-S3jvgAGXU/v-deo.html You want to hear all of the music I've produced for commercials and TV too? Watch TV for a few hours and you'll hear them. Especially trash reality shows. Lol.

    I know I’m a little late to the party, but yeah I mean I started my own business, just so I can have more time to create music, and practice, and educate myself. I’m done struggling to have money to buy a car. I’m just done working for people that don’t care if I have a car, or food, and just demand I be on time. I’ve had too many bad experiences working, so I’m putting everything on the line. What drives me is people saying I’m nuts for doing this, and just remembering how I feel when I’m working a regular job. It’s depressing to me. Not that working 9-5 or longer is bad. It’s just not for me.

    Mye everyday motivation is basicly that i have been playing all kinds of instruments all my life. I pass trough a coplle of band and end up leaving becouse thay didnt have that drive and dedication to keep going foward. now im working alone in my very modest home studio and i never been more satisfied. I it as tough job for one person to think of an idea fora a sond an finish it all the way till de end: I often overwork my self, but since long time ago i dedicated my life to music at the end of the day i feel completed. Thank you for your videos besouce those are one that keeps me going on those bad days. Much love from your fan MrDjoleification.

Thanks for all the helpful advice man. 🤘🤘
