Give the orc a break, they don't know how ancestry works. They probably think physical distance affects your ancestral distance. So if your grandfather moves to a neighboring town, he's your great-grandfather, after all, he's a great distance away. Now imagine what your aunt becomes if she moves from Cyrodiil to Morrowind...

Fun fact about Jiub - you met him in Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC, as a wandering spirit within the Soul Cairn, and collected the scattered pages of his Opus. He's also voiced by the same guy in both games, and also provided the voice of Desmond Lockhart in Fallout 3's Point Lookout.

    • @maximilianv8813
      @maximilianv8813 5 годин тому +15

Nah, female orcs make fine mages. As Jon rightly pointed out, female characters often get bonuses to Int and Will, and so a female Orc is only a few 10 points behind a female Breton in Intelligence (though a Breton gets additional magicka racially), and only 5 points behind in Willpower. The only real downside is that Orcs have no racial bonus to magical skills. Berserk, on the other hand, is one of the best racial abilities in the game, alongside Redguard's Adrenaline Rush (Though Redguards sadly make terrible mages, with both male and female Redguards having 30 in both Int and Will, and no racial bonus to magic skills.)
Orcs make great starting characters in general, since Berserk means that for 60 seconds you will not miss any attacks, and your odds of blocking, casting spells, and taking any other action that relies on fatigue a greatly increased.

So glad you started playing this magnificent game, let me guve you a few words of advice (and I guess to everybody who would want to pick this one up after seeing the series)
    1. Yes Fatigue influences everything, like everything everything including your prices at shops. Resting is your friend
    2. Enchanted items do recharge over time
    3. No you didn't want to play a stealth game. Stealth in Morrowind is notoriously hard, playing straight up stealth build is a sign of experience with the game. It's best to start with either magic or combat class
    4. It's not impossible to hit while your agility is 0, attack attribute influences hit chance independently and that's why you were able to hit every attack while you were using Berserk
    5. Stealing is also a bit tricky in this one as stolen items are not distinguished in any way by the game and they will be seized if any guard catches you
    6. Training is uncapped, if you want to use speechcraft, train it
    7. Skooma, moon sugar and few other bits and pieces are considered contraband, most traders will refuse to trade with you if you have some in your eq, best way to deal with it is to just drop it before you trade and pick it up after you finish it
There are also many ways to cheese the game, but if anyone wants to know them just write an answer to that comment and I'll describe them best I can

For your own sanity consider the essential 'UI Expansion'-a simple script extender mod (no esp) which provides some important QoL features to menus, like search bars (the spell list gets _really_ long after awhile), better tooltips, character profile save manager and most importantly, visually shows already selected topics in the dialogue window when there's nothing new to read. You can enable 'Ownership Tooltip' in the Code Patch under _Interface Changes_ to know when stealing.

@@Valkbg OpenMW is a terrific emulation of vanilla Morrowind, and a wonderful project. The Code Patch and MGE-XE combo does essentially the same thing (patching the engine and providing a new rendering pipeline). Drop UI Expansion into Data Files and you have parity with OpenMW for an annoyance-lite vanilla playthrough, without any stability issues. The cool extended stuff in OpenMW like navmeshing and new animations, as well as different ways some mechanics are handled behind the scenes do affect the experience in some subtle and some obvious ways. I believe there's room for both.

Well done Jon, now overlook 15 crucial items in the tutorial and somehow still beat the game without issues!

this game was the first elder scrolls for me. I’ve played this sooooo much more then the others.
I love so much about this game. I always had a fully worked routine to set me up for the game.
An example would be to steal the key to the watchtower out side of the government building in which you start. (Key can be found on the “book case” you need to grab it and quickly drop it and anything else you grabbed like a bowl worth 200 gold, otherwise you lose it all. With the key back in hand you can go outside and steal full steal armour and other stuff to sell or use.
Used to do other stuff to change up a couple quests like the women with rats infested. Could find a sunk boat with cushions and a receipt that she’s after.
Used to try to join every faction, house, guild, temple etc. getting the warp spell and levitation made things so much fun.

I love that this is finally here. A few vanilla-friendly mod recommendations (all available on Nexus): Pluginless and Adjustable Lower First Person Sneak (self-explanatory), Better Bodies (also self-explanatory), and QuickLoot (adds a Fallout 4-style loot menu)
No shade if you don't want to use any of those mods, but they're ones I like and don't think diverge from the vanilla experience in significant ways.
Oh, and one more that does make a significant change to one of the game systems: Speechcraft Rebalance - I personally don't find the vanilla Speechcraft system to be fun or interesting and I find that mod to be more enjoyable. That said, I completely understand if you don't want to use it for a first play-through.
