- Laurie attempted board-offs during a Labour Day long weekend kiteboarding session while the air show was happening. We also tried out our second kiteboarding buoy from Silent Sports! Enjoy!

The hangtime of the flysurfer kites is insaaane
It really is! For us it means we've been able to learn new tricks on really light wind days :)
Its nice in low winds and easy to fly.. the soul is super stable... but in higher gusty winds tricky :)
Great video guys ... keep em coming!
Thanks! We're working on it :)
Great video as always!
So many flysurfers on the water :D
Thanks! Flysurfer foreverrrrrrrr! ;)
Two air shows for the price of one! :)
Thanks love this vlog and working on one foot so v helpful tip!
Thanks! Glad you like it. There’s lots of extra tips in the comments too you may find helpful :)
Somebody had fun! Thanks for sharing - really inspiring :-)
Sure did :D Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
If I may ask you, which bar are u using with yr flysurfer soul and why?
We're using to 50cm Infinity 3.0 clam-cleat bar. We prefer the clam-cleat over the pull-pull bar, but we have both. The clam-cleat provides more precise trim in our opinion
Thank you so much! And please, keep on filming and sharing your sessions - really great! Sending lot's of love from Germany ... closest spot nearby in 300 km or youtube ;-)
Nice video and good info for sure. I'd like to add couple of things I found helpful when learning board off tricks:
- a bigger/higher then usual handle (like the T-handle from airstyle.tv) I had one 3d printed.
-good timing with jumping resulting in higher jumps. Don't forget to push out the bar when edging/loading up for the jump to maximize the boost potential.
-beach practice on a chair to get the motion of the board off trick fluently whilst not under pressure so that when it is on you can too
-when trying the board off by feeling on the beach, looking away or closing your eyes helps as well to get the feeling for it.
-cut the trick in peaces and build it up: from a jump to a bigger jump to a tail grab to a quick one footer to a longer one footer and so on. don't try and start with a kung-fu kick board off=)
-Keep it safe and always kick the board away when bailing to prevent ankle twisting.
-Have fun! even if it doesn't work out the first session! practice makes perfect...
Bonus tip: for more hangtime: add 5 meter line extentions to your normal lines. this will make for longer, float-ier jumps. I ride 30 meters on Cabrinha Velocity's in all conditions.
It will take some getting used too at first and not all kites will be suitable for longer lines but the hangtime is needed for board off's in my opinion.
These are great tips! Thanks for sharing them :)
Thats was great!
Thanks so much :) Glad you enjoyed it!
What beach do you kite from , great video as always guys 🙂
Thanks! It is hard to call it a beach, but it is at Lakeshore Yacht Club. We launch from the walkway or between the benches depending on wind direction
Are you guys getting ticketed if you aren't wearing vests? I've never seen so many kiters wearing them. I always wear one myself but here in Vancouver/Squamish most people don't. Nice work on the double back rolls, looking smooth!
Thanks! Yes, we could get ticketed - I think it's $150. This spot is tricky - the wind can switch offshore or just die suddenly (like it did this day). It's not uncommon to swim at least once per session, so that's why most of the kiters wear a vest here
I could be wrong but i did not think wearing a pfd was required when surfing or kiting as the board is not technically a vessel that you can float in ... whereas a SUP or Windsurfer or Boat is a "vessel" ... i could be wrong though ... does anyone know for sure what the letter of the law is?
I guess the fact that you all fly ram air kites means you have zero flotation if the wind dies unlike tube kites so that would encourage vest usage too
I wear a some sort of vest all the time in deep water regardless ... in fresh water you just dont have as much buoyancy and in Ontario the wind can just turn off like a light switch ... but even in salt water i would rather be safe than sorry. Last year i switched to an impact harness as it was much cleaner and no place for lines to snag and didnt ride up if i was floating in the drink ... though not "coast guard approved" it gives me enough flotation to keep my head above water with zero effort and reduces chances of lines getting caught up ... so for me thats the way to go ... tbh I cant beleive so many kiters go without a vest of some sort. I would hate to get a ticket tho for not using a pdf which i think can be a danger to kiting if lines get tangled ... if anything happens to the tube kite its just a giant wet blanket and even getting to the kite tangle free can be an issue ... if the wind drops but there is still some and its on shore id rather leave the lines out and let the kite slowly drift/pull me into shore rather than bother with a self rescue and risk entanglements .. ok ive typed way too much already
i love you :)) good vlog, your teeth is very beautifull
Thank you so much :) Glad you like the vlog!
