    Thanks Myles, you have such a knack for making complicated knots look really simple to tie, your videos have helped me out a lot!

    I really like this knot and use it all the time to attach braid to heavy mono. And you showed it very well, but consider this one nuance. When I am slow trolling a Dean for big Yellowtail, sometimes I just tie a super high quality swivel to the Braid with an equally super knot--like a Palomar (100 percent knot strength) then do the same with the mono. Sure it adds weight, but it is miniscule. The big advantage is tying while offshore--this knot is easy--in my living room, but offshore it is much easier for my old hands to tie the swivel--one end to the main line, the other end to the mono or fluoro.

    I am amazed at how Myles makes his knot demonstrations so easy to follow, I will definately be giving this knot a go with Nash's TT Triggalink.... Also watched Myles' video on the leader knot last season and have been using it ever since, needless to say no issues with it whatsoever :D

    Great knot mate, good demo, I wouldn't worry so much for the fishes safety with a little bit of a fishing line tag hitting it, I reckon the fish would be more worried about the big hook hanging out of its mouth.

    I saw terry hearn on a video trying to explain the Albright and the only thing that got knotted was my brain and I love terry hearn! I think he's one of the best Carpers ever to grace the face of this planet but a good knot teacher he is not!! But you are Myles and a top angler to boot ! just tied my first Albright knot and I'm well pleased with it : ) cheers Myles your a star* keep making these mate cos you have a talent for clear concise instructional videos like this and I know you will be my first port of call when I'm struggling with a particular knot!!

      High praise indeed, thank you Adam. The feedback I'm getting is great for these videos. I might just do a few more this year.

    Is that an inproved Albright or a standard

    the biggest "plus" for the Allbright (and the nail knot) is that one line grips the other, they do not intersect. Many knots joining two lines of different construction intersect with the possible result that the smaller harder line can cut through the bigger softer line and the knot fails. The Allbright and Nail knots are the strongest and safest ways to join two lines bar none.

    Hi there quick question what would be your go-to knot to tie 30 lb braid to 30 lb braid

    • @MylesGascoyne
      @MylesGascoyne  2 роки тому

      A back to back grinner knot. I'd make 8 turns or so. If it slips, then more turns. Braid is 'more slippery' than mono so more turns are required. I hope that makes sense.

    Great video :-) Can I ask if attaching 15lb coated braid to 15lb fluoro carbon, would you make the knot using the braid or fluoro carbon? They both seem pretty thick and not that flexible? Would you strip the coating off the braid to make the knot? Thanks

      Well, the Albright is designed for tying two lines of very different diameter. What you are trying to join are pretty similar and therefore something like a double blood knot or double clinch knot would be best. I've got a video on my channel if you need help tying it.

    No, this is a knot for joining line of two very different diameters. Try a back to back blood knot (clinch knot) or back to back grinner. Check out my channel to find how to tie them. I hope that helps.

    Would it be better to leave the tag end of the leader an inch long ( if being used as a shockleader knot) then on the cast the end of the knot doesn't clatter your rod rings?

    • @MylesGascoyne
      @MylesGascoyne  8 років тому

      I know what you mean Darryl. To be honest I would use a back to back grinner or blood knot for shock leaders depending on the materials being used. Particularly with the back to back blood knot, you have the two tag ends in the middle of the knot and it flies through the guides beautifully. I tend not to use the Albright for shock leaders. It does work but there are better knots. I hope that helps.

      Thanks for that,I will definitely take the advice and use the back to back. What's your advice on a shockleader for spodding etc? Thinking about the korda spod braid with their 30lb arma-core leader? Just annoying that you have to back fill the spools then tie your braid on then tie your leader on!!!!! Or fill the spool with 10lb then use a tapered leader? Once again thanks for taking the time to answer.

      The setup that I use (and Mark Hutchinson) is to load the reel with 10lb mono. It's cheap and when you get a tangle which will happen when you skip spots and spombs back across the surface and over weed is easier to untangle or cheap to replace when you need to. Just some 10lb Diawa sensor is perfect (and cheap). Then tie a back to back blood knot to some Korda Armo Kord. 30lb is fine, I can't snap it! Easy as that. You'll need to feather your cast to the clip. Hold your rod to the side or up in the air loosely and when the spod is about to reach the clip distance let the rod fall forward as the spod pulls tight. It won't ping back like it does with a braided mainline and I feel that is more accurate. Give it a try.

    Can't make mine work pull on 4 strands, and knot will not slide ,pull on tag ends and it slides, don't trust it on a barbel so doesn't work 🤷

      Sorry to hear that Terry. Without seeing what you are doing it's difficult to help. It's a useful knot and it does work. World record sailfish and marlin have been caught using this knot and barbel. It does work.
