keep looking, keep dreaming and the right one will find you! I saved 20 years for a double cab and when one came along I welcomed it with open arms! lol
You are completely the right person to own this bus! I've had similar crazy adventures with my 600 multipla from 1958, people love to see it, to sit in it and have photos with it. My son came with me to buy it from the French Alps. I've just bought a 1960 23 window deluxe to restore, hoping to have more adventures in this bus one day! I love the colours of your bus, it's beautiful inside and out.
Yes, My bother was THE absolute perfect guy for this bus! I have a 67 vw double cab and a 58 vw panel bus, the double cab is my daily in the warmer months the 58 is a major project that I truly hope to finish this year! Thanks for stopping in and sharing, congrats on the 23 window! you lucky duck!
@@marcijunebug superb! You are living the dream too. Glad to hear that you are saving another bus, they find the right owners eventually. My grandfather drove a 1965 Devon camper as his daily driver for nearly 20 years. He sold it when I was 15 for next to nothing. That bus is still on the roads today. It was what started my love of old cars and especially old VWs. This is my first split window and I hope to do it justice. Your brother's vw is perfection!
What an amazing story my VW friend. I have a 59 beetle that my grandpa bought brand new in February of 1959. He drove it every day until he had a stroke in 1984 and couldn't shift gears anymore. At that point he gave it to my dad. Dad drove the bug for a long time. At that time I wasn't really interested in the old bug. In 1996 dad put the bug in a storage unit where it would rest until 2013, I decided it was time to wake her up from her slumber. It didn't take long to get her roadworthy again. Sometimes I just sit and look at the little Ole bug and I'm just amazed. I can remember my grandpa dropping me off at elementary school in that car, now I take my grandkids to school in it. It's hard to believe the little bug is 64 years old. For some reason I really want a VW bus now as well. I've been looking. Oh we're in Texas too. Texarkana which is a long way from Houston. My wife and I are thinking about driving the bug to Galveston pretty soon before it gets super hot. Y'all seem like really cool folks. Have a blessed day
oh man, what an amazing story! Thanks for sharing! If you DO end up making the trip to Galveston PLEASE let me know! I think my brother would love to grab a cup of coffee or something with y'all! My email is marcijunebug@gmail.com feel free to reach out and I can put the two of you in touch! Cheers my VW friend!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!. Mazel Tov!!. Awesome, stupendous, Epic. My dream Bus was a Baywindow 76-79 Westfalia in yellow. My wife's dream was an automatic with working air conditioning. I told her that wasn't going to be possible. Years and years and years of looking on the Samba and Ebay, and realizing we wouldn't be able to afford it, my wife bought a Law Of Attraction book and movie and we read and watched the movie several times over 3 weeks. Then, suddenly on TheSamba, my wife found the exact Bus we both wanted. Exact. We had it shipped in from Texas to our home in Connecticut. We've had it a month and I can't begin to tell you how thrilling it is to have my dream finally come true. My wife always tells me to stop saying we can't afford it and just bring it in by sending our wishes to the universe no matter how corny that sounds. We materialized our fantasy house and now our fantasy Bus. This can work for anyone , you just have to want it badly enough and ask God and the universe to grant it and it WILL happen. Thanks.
I love this comment! Thank you so much for sharing...I think things have a way of finding their rightful owners. The ones they know will love it like it was intended to be loved! ❤
Magnificent, sublime, joyous, choose a superlative, if you can. A nicely made video by a genuine enthusiast. You are lucky to have that gorgeous bus and a sister who is a true artisan. She is very capable and has undertaken some outstanding renovations. 👏 . Enjoy the bus and thank you for sharing. We did not see the engine!
thank you thank you! We are very happy for him! I DID a video of the engine...as I did a fireslayer (fire suppression system) install...I just have yet to get that content edited and uploaded, so stay tuned for that! Thanks for coming along for the ride with us!

What an AMAZING FIND, SO happy that you will drive her enjoy her and take her to shows for others to admire and respectfully sit in for photo ops, That is AWESOME. You are very blessed to be able to buy such an iconic VW BUS, Surely this cost NORTH of 70 grand, VERY Blessed indeed, Best of luck.....She needs a NAME.
It is SUCH a beautiful ride! Way nicer than anything he and I have ever owned! I told him to use my standard line "I paid way more than I wanted to but much less that it is worth" lol and Mr. Dalton named it the "greenie weenie" lol The pictures kind of make it look blue-ish, but it IS more on the green side! Thanks for being here!
bahaaaa.....shiny shoes and shiny bus! We had a fun time just cruising around for a few days! I'll admit, glad Pickle wasn't with us he might have gotten a little jealous! ha
Beautiful bus. Makes me miss mine. I has a 65 21 window, 64 camper but I miss most of all my 57 13 window deluxe I restored in my back yard and enjoyed. i really do miss it and wish I had it back. 👍🏻☮

Oh it's beautiful !!!!. I had a 64 Van, such an amazing car. It was around 20 years old when I brought it and I did 130,000 Miles in four years, so good 🙂
it is such an iconic bus! Love everything about it and am pretty jealous he found it first! lol No, really in all honestly it couldn't have gone to a more perfect person! It IS THE bus of his dreams and I'm really happy for him!

he's a pretty happy guy right now and we are all a little jealous! ha It was a great couple days there with him just cruising around with no where to go!
I thought for one moment that YOU had bought this!!! Very nice indeed, almost too good, patination will come with use! As for the headlamps, I have no idea what the rules are in USA, but here, we can upgrade to LEDs (anything pre-1986, after that, they have to be "E" marked) and my vintage cars all have LED bulbs and the night-time problem of being seen and able to see is gone! Thanks for sharing, greetings from the UK!
I can't have "nice things" I have a 7 year old! 😂 I'm really happy for him, it's his dream bus! He likes the 6v lights, but we have no laws saying they can't be upgraded...I will likely run l.e.d. in pickle or run a converter regulator (like my dad does in his 55) that basically makes a 6v into a 12v thus increasing brightness of brake-lights and headlights! Thanks for always being here Gary!
Wow I bet you are tickled to finally see it!🎉 it’s beautiful! I was born in 63, wish I looked as good as it does! 😂 Tell Aaron I don’t have a bus but I have a T-shirt just like his! 😂
it's a beauty for sure, but that perfect paint with my little dude spinning his camera like a baton all around it was making me nervous! lol I'd be too stressed out to drive it on a regular basis!
Yes! I am really happy for him getting his dream bus! The interior panels are in incredible shape for originals...seats have been redone, but the floor mats and door panels are all OG!
There were only a few things to correct to make it perfect. The rust on the bottom of the doors, correct Lemmerz trim rings and a chrome front emblem. I love my early 63 15 window, I know he will love his!
yes, one of his first changes is that painted front emblem!!! He complains about it more than anything! lol He just feels very fortunate to be it's new owner!
He wants to keep it as OG as possible and since he has the original dealer window sticker with the options it came with I think he will keep it the way it was ordered...the arm rests...yeah those are kind of cool actually and since there are holes drilled in the original panels where they are I think he will just leave them...Motor felt really strong, almost like was a fairly fresh rebuild (he's trying to find out more info on that) plenty of pep even though it is just 40hp...felt strong for a 40, although if they are really dialed in they are a great little engine! thanks for the comment! cheers
The 1500 40 horse power was the best motor. Some people bored them out to deliver more. Also some people installed the later 1600 horse in some of these. My mother had a 1965 bus with the 1500 bored out, and that engine was super reliable. She had that bus for over 27 years. It ran when all her other cars were in the shop for repairs. She also had a later bay window bus with a 1600 dual port engine which kept sucking valves down into the crankcase. Her 1500 engine never did that, and I remember the odometer rolling over more than once in that 1965 bus.
YOU BET YOU WILL! He has talked about THIS dream bus since we were little kids! I'm so glad he finally got it so I don't have to hear about it anymore! ha no, really really glad he got it, it went to the right guy for sure!
You can tell he’s in heaven the way he speaks about it. He speaks … how I live always felt about the bus. Some make fun of me.. I don’t care. I will never give up!
What a joy and so beautiful love the colors . So happy for your brother that he find his dream vehicle. And yes I would do the same drive it and let people enjoy it. Love it 💚💚💚💚
We have never owned "trailer queens" and although this one is very very near perfect I've encouraged him to drive the wheels off of it...you only live once...enjoy it!
That's just tooo cool! I'm camping in Garner St park and while cruising the roads, we pass a rig that's named Zeppelin Led. How ironic. Back to repairing holes and getting new axles too. Good stuff girl (and bro)
Love you videos. Need vw help. I bought my 16 year old daughter a 1972 automatic vw squareback. It had a leaking transmission. I took it to local vw shop. They can't find gaskets. Do you know where or who might have a old Nos gasket set. The old vw guy is stressed out. My daughter and i are stressed out. We tried Somba no luck. Thanks Paul And Veronika
I assume you've tried all the sites? The bugeyed place (listed below) is near me...I will call them today...if he doesn't have it, he might be able to get it or tell me where to get it? Might be possible to get the raw material and make one? Or get someone with a 3d printer/cnc router and get them the original and raw material to copy the old one? cip1.com wolfsburgwest.com jbugs.com www.bugeyed.net/
YES! and YES! I did install a fireslayer while I was there and fixed a few other minor things...he has a "list" of things that still need attention, I'll add 3rd brake light! Cheers my friend!
thanks man! Wish We'd had more time to do a little more filming, but thankful weather was good and we got what we got! BTW been collecting little bits of this and that for the raven build...almost there 😉
It reminds me of the '66 single cab I used to drive from Hamburg to Berlin and back many years ago. That's only about 300 km (186 mi) but it seemed endless at just 80 km/h (50 mph) 😂 . But it was a lot of fun (although you still had to drive through the GDR back then).
oh wow...thanks for sharing that story...I love hearing VW stories people have to share. Furthest I've ever taken my double cab is about 300 miles in one trip...seemed like I'd never get there! ha BUT it was truly a great adventure! Thanks so much for being here and sharing in the comments!
did buses even HAVE wipers if they were 6v!!!! 😆😂 My old 62 beetle wipers were SO slow until we converted to 12V! lol n Aren't the armrest interesting tho!
OMG! I can only imagine how thrilled your brother must be. What a beautiful bus. And must have been fun for you to drive without cracks in the windshield :)
40hp as far as we can tell...feels a bit peppy for a 40, so we aren't sure if/not it has been "tweaked" but a 40 running right is a strong little engine as you know!
I hope not! ha perfect paint causes stress! ha Pickle will be a lovely patina driver tho and one I won't be freaking out on if/not the paint get scratched!
I told him needs safari's....YES, I offered the chrome emblem to him if he gives me his I'll just sand it and paint it white on mine! Thanks for always being here!
Quality stuff, Marci J! As always, your editing is flawless and a pleasure to watch. Nice to see your whole family are into VWs, not unlike mine! What the hell has your brother been eating in Texas?! That guy is jacked!! 💪🏻 All the best from the uk 🇬🇧 Ben Haskins/Hasky B
yes, we all are VW lovers, my brother and I used to spend our summers out hunting old vw's in fields and along the untraveled paths while IN our VW's, good times...😂he eats nails for breakfast! ha
Dear @@marcijunebug Ahaaaaa! So you fooled me or clickbaited me?! 😁;-) Just kidding of course. Thanks for replying and especially for another heart. I totally appreciate both (as you know). 2) In 2017 VW had the Bulli in a new design as an electric car on several car shows (even in Pebble beach). A great looking bus but way too expensive. Called the ID Buzz. Best regards, luck and health to all of you.
Yes, the VW life channel got to drive it in Austin, TX just a few days ago ua-cam.com/video/gbiMW-LJArk/v-deo.html I personally am not a fan and if that is the future of car design...well...I'm not interested in a new car any time soon! ha Cheers my friend!
Wow! Such a beautiful ride! Congrats Aaron. Love the story behind this. Thanks for sharing, Marci! I have a 62 single cab, just had it painted Turkish green. Having some trouble with the carburetor now. I’m also in Houston, have any mechanic recs to share? Thanks!
LOVE the SCAB's!!!! Nothing like a drop-gate truck! I so love my double cab! if you want to email me at (marcijunebug@gmail.com) I can get you in touch with my brother and he has a few guys he uses in the area to help on his VW's and they are all very good... and thanks for coming along for the ride with us!
Marcia, I was just checking in with you dear. I am following your work with Pickle. Sometimes people ask me what I follow on UA-cam. I readily refer them to marcia junebug , a devoted mother and a progressional in what ever discipline is involved in (that discipline is really not my business). I declare that Marci is concerned about ancient VW’s while at the same time a devoted mother. You are at same time working to establish yourself as an artist with a plasma cutter. That is satisfactory with me as i view a hopelessly worn handsaw converted into something someone might value.
I lost my contact. What I really wanted to say is that I readily endorse your activities. But as a former “caretaker of a 1960 Chevrolet pickup truck,” I am excited when you find the funds to work on Pickle. Keep going you devoted Mother of Dalton. Dalton is ways your primary concern. I’ll continue checking in. But as always dear, “Keep on trucking!” I dearly endorse you Marci, PD
you are too kind...I certainly wear many hats and am kept very busy these days with my work and my little one (although not so little anymore) but my love for all things old and forgotten especially ole pickle...that bus is my therapy!
Hi marci . Love the video and looking forward to more pickle update 😀 Just wanted to ask how I can purchase a pickle coin for my 66 beetle from yourself xx🪲
Thanks so much! I would LOVE to have ole pickle off that rotisserie by summers end and so appreciate your support on the project! You can get your pickle chip here! junkinthistruck.com/product/pickle-chips-vw-bus-art-project/

Thanks for always being here Gary!
Good heavens! Almost unreal! The second video in a row that leaves me speechless!
it's a wonderful find...he did really well with this purchase and I'm so happy for him! He has wanted a bus since we were little kids!
Wow! Takes me back. Used to run one of these as a daily back in '91. Precious memories ❤️
Nothing like an old VW bus! I daily my double cab in the summer, but don't like having it out on the salted roads in the winter! Cheers!
Lol, though it was the one you were fixing
i could only wish! lol I DID go down there to do a little work on this one though! (more on that in a future video!)
Hi, Marci and Aaron Thanks for sharing I did really enjoy and loved the vid.b Have a great week. greetings.Hubertus.
appreciate you being in the chat with us and for your continued support! I'm really happy my bro finally got HIS bus! Cheers!
@@marcijunebug , 🇺🇸always happy to follow you, Marci.Cheers🍷🇳🇴🙏☮🇳🇴
Marci! What an incredible video! We are so happy for Aaron! Absolutely beautiful!
couldn't have gone to a better owner! Glad he got one finally now he can "shut up about it" lol
Hi Marcie, Now that is a truly beautiful bus. Im jealous.
I'm Jealous too! BUT it is in good hands!
OMG, whew, I initially thought you had forsaken the Pickle and just bought another ready made bus! No worries, the atrial fibrillation has resolved...
NEVER!!!! Pickle is more "me" as I prefer the patina and forgotten/unloved ones! ha
Very kool, looks like its in good hands 😉👌🏼👍🏽
yes, he was certainly the perfect guy to get it!
Wow I bet you are tickled to finally see it!🎉 it’s beautiful! I was born in 63, wish I looked as good as it does! 😂
Tell Aaron I don’t have a bus but I have a T-shirt just like his! 😂
it's a beauty for sure, but that perfect paint with my little dude spinning his camera like a baton all around it was making me nervous! lol I'd be too stressed out to drive it on a regular basis!
Please could you tell me which color is this green?
Turkis
L380? is the paint code I believe? But you can always check thesamba.com under the technical data for type 2
Gorgeous bus love the colour and all the deluxe trims . Its nice to get such a good look at an interior too.
Yes! I am really happy for him getting his dream bus! The interior panels are in incredible shape for originals...seats have been redone, but the floor mats and door panels are all OG!
Looks great! Is it the pearl white or the blue white on the top?
It's the blue or the lighter turk...looks white until you get right up on it! Beautiful bus, I'm so jealous!
Wow. Pickle can dream and have someone to look up to. Our 11 window looks similar minus the paint, seats, headlights, interior, motor, etc 🤣
pickle looks the same minus EVERYTHING! bahaaaa...I'm so glad he got it! Truly HAS been his dream car since we were little kids!
@@marcijunebug OHHH I think it looks perfect, but it's not my bus is it.
@KevinBrennan I agree!
Add front and rear safaris, remove the arm rest.. a 40 or 1500 is the best motor.
Her 1500 engine never did that, and I remember the odometer rolling over more than once in that 1965 bus.
what is the knob next to the dash ashtray?
do you mean the chrome knob?....cigarette lighter
One day I will own a 15 window deluxe walk thru in Turkish green. I will work my ass off to make this happen. She’s beautiful man
Enjoy
YOU BET YOU WILL! He has talked about THIS dream bus since we were little kids! I'm so glad he finally got it so I don't have to hear about it anymore! ha no, really really glad he got it, it went to the right guy for sure!
You can tell he’s in heaven the way he speaks about it. He speaks … how I live always felt about the bus. Some make fun of me.. I don’t care. I will never give up!
First thing I noticed this wasn't near your house! Lol
nope! lol Not that green around here! Wish we could go to ole Forkey's and eat! Can't believe they closed! Take care man!
Great bus, fun video, but I'd like to know more about where he's parking!!!
bahaaaa I know right!!! It's pretty much security of "the batcave" lol
Thanks Charles! NOW GET BACK TO WORK! lol Zeppelin Led lol Mr. D named this one the greenie weenie...he's a hoot! Catch you on the next one my man!

That's a beauty! Now for my obligatory "I don't care if it's age-accurate, get a hyper bright THIRD BRAKE LIGHT on the bus!" mention. :)
YES! and YES! I did install a fireslayer while I was there and fixed a few other minor things...he has a "list" of things that still need attention, I'll add 3rd brake light! Cheers my friend!
🤩 👍🏼
Road trip???
That is a helluva bus. Some really nice filming and editing on the intro scene Marci
This must be the destiny of pickles.
Sears radio and all or maybe even a
8-track.🤔
8-track YES!!!!! Pickle is going to give the ole 15 window a run for its money! ha
@@marcijunebug
I believe in pickles.
yeah buses didnt have the arm rests. buses also didnt have 2 speed wipers..........mine does.
did buses even HAVE wipers if they were 6v!!!!
He's like giddy about it and he should be it's an amazing ride! No cracks....but SO MANY WINDOWS to clean lol
btw...I have a dragonfly in the works!
If I owned a classic VW I would drive it everywhere and all the time, too! YOLO. 😍
nothing like a vintage car! the entire driving experience changes through the windshield of an old ride! thanks for stopping in!
Is it a 40 hp or one of the weird 1500 ?
40hp as far as we can tell...feels a bit peppy for a 40, so we aren't sure if/not it has been "tweaked" but a 40 running right is a strong little engine as you know!
Is that what pickle is going to look like when you get done with it
I hope not! ha perfect paint causes stress! ha Pickle will be a lovely patina driver tho and one I won't be freaking out on if/not the paint get scratched!
@@marcijunebug thank you 😊
Beautiful bus!! You need to put in safari windows for him. Now he needs the chrome emblem he gave you for Christmas back. lol
I told him needs safari's....YES, I offered the chrome emblem to him if he gives me his I'll just sand it and paint it white on mine! Thanks for always being here!
What!? I can’t wait 17 hours.
bahaaa
I have a seafoam green fender stratocaster :)
lucky duck! dang....way cool
Quality stuff, Marci J! As always, your editing is flawless and a pleasure to watch. Nice to see your whole family are into VWs, not unlike mine! What the hell has your brother been eating in Texas?! That guy is jacked!! 💪🏻
All the best from the uk 🇬🇧

yes, we all are VW lovers, my brother and I used to spend our summers out hunting old vw's in fields and along the untraveled paths while IN our VW's, good times...😂he eats nails for breakfast! ha
NEW???? How in the world...
hehe..."new to us" so NEW lol wish VW was still making them in the old body style! I know, I know...safety standards! ha
Dear @@marcijunebug
Ahaaaaa!
Yes, the VW life channel got to drive it in Austin, TX just a few days ago
ua-cam.com/video/gbiMW-LJArk/v-deo.html
I personally am not a fan and if that is the future of car design...well...I'm not interested in a new car any time soon! ha Cheers my friend!
I so love my double cab! if you want to email me at (marcijunebug@gmail.com) I can get you in touch with my brother and he has a few guys he uses in the area to help on his VW's and they are all very good... and thanks for coming along for the ride with us!
mine will never be that good. My turkis bus looked that good many years ago. Rust, time, I dont have
I love them any condition really...just such a wonderful piece of machinery and a piece you can really bond with in a way,...nothing like an old bus!
Just so you dont get made fun of too much, its pronounced Tur-kiss, Turkish is a citizen of Turkey
Dear Tony More
Nice try (no offense!)! ;-) Actually it's called Türkis in Germany and pronounced like "Turkeys".
Best regards, luck and health.
Marcia,
I was just checking in with you dear.
But as always dear, “Keep on trucking!”
I dearly endorse you
Marci,
PD
you are too kind...I certainly wear many hats and am kept very busy these days with my work and my little one (although not so little anymore) but my love for all things old and forgotten especially ole pickle...that bus is my therapy!
Thanks Dennis...truly truly appreciate your comment and thanks for stopping in! We are all but caretakers for a time! cheers my friend!
