@@carlosalejandroalvarenga4913 I think (but I'm not completely sure) they meant that they would be disappointed because they wouldn't be able to see the original cast member for Elle. I do agree that the wording is wonky and it makes it sound rude.
I actually like her not-so-hyper character. She actually throws in moments of comedy but doesn't act like a total spaz the whole time. Also because she is being SO hyper and SO crazy on stage, she has the ability to produce stronger and HEALTHIER vocals. I really love Haven's performance, it's just so consistent. :)
I agree with most of that, however I don't think the not-so-hyperness works so well for the character. For example, the song Serious works because he doesn't like that she's so all over the place and hyper and extroverted - and if she has less of that then I think it makes less sense. But it's still an incredible performance and no less good than the others. Some of Haven's little singing moments and mannerisms are so perfect and she is obviously more than good enough if she got the role
@@ava8340 i think it's just more reminiscent of the movie elle! and serious has less to do with her being "hyper" and more to do with his perception of her as ditzy and a dumb blonde. i know you made this comment a really long time ago, just wanted to offer a different perspective!
ChrisAnne Little you should look up Nikki Bohne (who played Elle in the 2nd us tour) or Kerry butler (who sang some legally blonde demo tracks) both of them were really good too!
Omg so when I first clicked on this video I was like "oh great another girl trying desperately to be Laura Bell Bundy🙄" but I actually love her so much! Her voice is so amazing and she brings something different and interesting to this role that none of the other girls, besides Laura, could really do. It makes Elle more three-dimensional. I love it💝😍
Molly Donahue ok but the difference is that they all actually have talent so dont shame them like that because its rude and i bet they can do way better than you no shade no tea just facts
1:50 this is possibly the funniest delivery of this line I've heard, there's something about it that is absolutely hysterical compared to others, and I can't figure out why
I believe it was because the original Margot (Annaleigh Ashford) left before Bailey stepped in to play Elle Woods and Haven became the replacement for Margot.
@@mariknowsbest4784 No, it's pretty objective that Bailey was bad; she got the show closed pretty damn quick. But hey, you're entitled to your wrong opinion.
I really like her acting, Laura is way better but she is great too. Even I know she can sing perfectly because I saw her in shrek as Gingy, the dragon and Fiona but I don´t think her voice fit with Elle's.
i thought she was great. She fit the role for Elle Woods. I did think she was a little fast. I still think Laura was the best of all because she is the original star
+MerissaStar MSP It's just the angle of the recording. He turns to talk to the guy who tapped his shoulder. If you look closely and watch it a couple times, you'll realize it. It's all in the angle.
wow she did GREAT. I love seeing it when the underdogs step up to the plate. It's obvious she hadn't played this role often because she wasn't seasoned as "Elle" but still VERY impressive.
The Run at the end was the best I've ever hurd from any of the girls that have performed as Elle! I just wish she would have held the note all the way out. It would have been PERFECTION!
She's really funny and she did a great interpretation of Elle, She's probably my 3rd Choice Which 1st. LBB 2nd. Sheridan 3rd Her When did she play the role?
K.d. Lang is such a magnificent singer: She is totally in command of her voice. She doesn’t indiscriminately belt things out to show off. She should be more celebrated than she is.
I always wondered who was the understudy for the original cast and wow! I love her delivery of the role. Feels like Reese on broadway. Amazing notes, fun acting. Glad I got to see her in this video! 1:18 Is there any reason she didn’t replace LBB when she left? I know the mtv show was on, so I’m assuming that impacted. But I’m curious why they went the TV show route over Haven landing the role.
ok, wow!!! I have never heard anything better than her! She didn't hit a single note that was sour, and she hit notes better than I've ever heard them!!! Go haven!!!!
Crazy! I went to school with her and sang "Somewhere Out There" in highschool lol. It's just inane how she's rockin' and making it big now...so proud of her :)
Wow. Snaps for the vocal rendition. She was so at ease. Actually, compared to Becky's So Much Better here on UA-cam, I think I like Haven's rendition. I mean Becky is good too, but I like how Haven did this song!
Bailey is still there. Haven Burton left the show some time ago. She played Margot and was the u/s for Elle (Kate Rockwell is now performing that track).
My favorite version of this song! When I was at the stage door for Shrek, she walked right by me, but I didn't get a chance to talk to her as I was speaking to another cast member. Wish I did..she's fantastic:)
Tonight was the last night for Shrek in Seattle. You need to see it when it goes to Broadway. I've already seen it twice here in Seattle and will see it again on Broadway. I'm trying to get a whole bunch of people to go with us. We plan on doing like a musical marathon in New York (Spring Awakening, In the Heights, Lion King, Avenue Q, Wicked, Legally Blonde & Shrek).
Uhhh... high school level? What kind of high school did you go to? She was fantastic. Exudes confidence, every move she makes on stage has a purpose, her emotions are spot-on, and she displays the perfect balance of energetic, yet controlled. The best high school acting I’ve ever seen in my life, lol
I'm pretty sure that barely anyone knows that she was actually Laura's understudy
I thought it was Becky
I'd be pretty disappointing if I showed up to the theater and found out just before the show that this is what I was getting instead of Laura Belle.
@@simgingergirl that's really rude. Shes really talented

@@inkythebeloved yeah makes sense
Her singing and diction are amazing. Definitely one of the best voices for this song.
Louise Litchee agreed
That tiny little note she does before the last "-foooooore" is so gorgeous
Eden Sanden i knowwww!! I KEEP REPLAYING THAT BIT lol

One of my favorite riffs!

It's very burlesque-ish. I love it too!

Her "THEN BEFORE" was flawless OMG
not to be that guy but... than*
wow she's the closest anyone has ever come to LBB in my opinion
ChrisAnne Little you should look up Nikki Bohne (who played Elle in the 2nd us tour) or Kerry butler (who sang some legally blonde demo tracks) both of them were really good too!
I agree. The closest to LBB!
Thats bc she was LBB’s understudy
Nah. Lucie Jones
Yeah, but she just doesn’t have the same enthusiasm and energy
This ending has so much energy to it. It's exciting! And Haven can sing like there is no tomorrow! I love her
I KNOW!! The energy after the bridge is AMAZING!!!! The ensemble, the orchestra, Haven Burton's voice and sass. GREAT.
I'm really hoping for Haven to do Wicked some day. Her voice is perfect
Oh my God, I forgot about her little dance on "who walks the walk"... this woman was brilliant in this role.
inlovewithJLT yes she is!!
I KNOW
I'm obsessed with that bit
For everyone saying that she isn't the real elle etc, she is the only one who sings with her diaphragm, and not her nose. My favourite elle by far!
She is literally the exact way I pictured Elle to be! And her voice isn't as whinny as the others. Laura bell and haven are def my favs:)

I'm sorry, this bitch KILLED this performance. So so so great.
I LOVE hearing the cheers at the end the crowd LOVES her! AHHH that riff at the end is so chilling
her voice is absolutely gorgeous!! I replayed that last note probably 20 times ❤️❤️
1:50 this is possibly the funniest delivery of this line I've heard, there's something about it that is absolutely hysterical compared to others, and I can't figure out why
WHY COULDN'T YOU REPLACE BAILEY
I believe it was because the original Margot (Annaleigh Ashford) left before Bailey stepped in to play Elle Woods and Haven became the replacement for Margot.
Why can’t you guys just shut up? Bailey deserves her role and was way better than haven.
@@mariknowsbest4784 Debatable but that's your opinion so I'll respect it.
Luke I mean, it’s true that both haven and bailey has weak spots, but in this video Haven doesn’t feel like an Elle.
@@mariknowsbest4784 No, it's pretty objective that Bailey was bad; she got the show closed pretty damn quick. But hey, you're entitled to your wrong opinion.
If she had more chances to go on, she her Elle would've become the defining interpretation. What a star!
Haven is one of the best understudies on broadway. She’s understudied some of the best roles there is. I live for her power!
Her belt at the end is the best i've ever heard
I really like her acting, Laura is way better but she is great too. Even I know she can sing perfectly because I saw her in shrek as Gingy, the dragon and Fiona but I don´t think her voice fit with Elle's.
i think her tone is too mature for elle, like what like I stand with WADA said
hOLA GUILLE JJAJAJAJAJAJ
yeah and she doesn't really have the look
Yeah i think LBB is way better than her acting and singing wise too!!😍
She doesn't have the Elle Woods sex appeal either, but she can sing. Shrek is where she belongs.
She does not get enough credit - she's AMAZING!
I can't get over her riff at the beginning of the last note ❤️
God, I am SO in love with her little dance on "Then we will see who walks the walk"
The "well this might" made me laugh so hard omg I love herrrr
i thought she was great. She fit the role for Elle Woods. I did think she was a little fast. I still think Laura was the best of all because she is the original star

Milena Cuellar We know. It was just funny...and somewhat arousing.
Oh God, she made holding the last note look so easy...
wnlchu55 I don't find it hard
She didn't hold it though...she took a breath halfway through. ( 3:16 ish)
the hell did warner kiss that guy at 1:08 ?
IKR OMG SO CONFUSING
I think he thought it was Vivian? Very weird
TheBuddsO not but he didn't kiss he guys his face was just close when he turned around
lol
In the proper blocking, It's supposed to be a whisper to the ensemble actor. I guess the ensemble actor messed up his blocking.
Y’all wait but why does the breath in the last note just work so well with her voice i normally hate it but that sounds so good
Damn, that last note

darealestn09 yess
@tdonset08 that's because that is her Margot wig. They didn't have her Elle understudy wigs made yet.
it's the same wig, just the bottom half styled differently (straightened instead of curled).

She replaced Annaleigh Ashford as Margot and 2nd Understudy for Elle.
How was she NOT promoted? She's incredible!
