I've been hunting and shooting deer rifles now for close to 45 years so take that for what it's worth.
I admit I haven't tried too many brands of 7.62x39 and don't really feel the need to in my rifle at least I recently built a 7.62x39 AR and just put a Romeo red dot on it, was going to use it for deer hunting at ranges of less than a hundred yards. (That's what most of the shots are going to be on my farm)
I sighted it in initially with the 123 grain Wolf hollow points and I was getting about a 2" group +- at 100 yards.
For hunting I switched over to the PPU 123 grain soft points and my groups remained around 2 in I'm happy with that confident I can take it to the woods and kill a deer with no problem.
I also shoot PPU 100gr PSP predominantly in my 243 deer rifle as does my wife and son. I bought it initially because of the price I was getting it for about $12 a box a few years ago I've got Remington, Winchester,Hornady ammo and it shoots as good as any of them do for a lot less money in my rifles anyways.
I'm guessing that one shot you had that was low was a flyer and was probably a you issue I know you don't want to hear that but more than likely the gun moved or trigger pull wasn't perfect who knows but I found PPU to be fairly accurate ammo.
I always shoot off a solid bench rest when I sight in with bags and I try to take as much of the human error out of it as I can other than the trigger pull.
All that being said PPU is not bad ammo. It's good ammo and for the most part I've never had an issue with it and either rifle or handgun.

thanks for watching and thanks for the feed back i need to get a gun vise or lead sled for my ammo test. to eliminate human error as much as possible. and in the video it seems like I'm knocking ppu but I'm not it great ammo for the price considering price's of ammo at the current time

Great video, I got some norinco 122 grain 762x39 full metal jacket ammo and it got stuck in the bore, tried it a few times and it kept happening. Tried the PPU soft tip and it worked like a charm.

I had the exact same problem with the Norinco Red Box ammuntion. I have heard that Bernaul's, PPU and Wolf all run much better. I think it has something to do with the tar they use to seal the neck of the case.

Ive been shooting Sellier and Bellot 123 grain steel case and it really groups well. 5 shots in under an inch with a can. Its one of my favorite rifles. I enjoy your videos and subbed.

I am convinced that this rifle does not exist -- that every RAR 7.62 that has ever left the factory is currently spoken for.

@@nontypicalredneck89 I'd be curious to see some 0.308" diameter vs 0.310"/0.311" reloading science done for this rifle. I've heard anecdotal claims that 0.308" diameter bullets will still group in these.

I own two of these rifles in 7.62x39. The Maxx tech was by far the worst shooting ammo I tested in these ranch rifles. So I figured I would run the Maxx Tech in my AK.... Nope. I had 3 failures to eject in one magazine alone (keeping in mind I also have a KNS piston installed). My Ak does run other ammo flawlessly so I'm thinking the maxx tech might be under powder or I just got a bad batch.. idk. Now back on to the Ruger Ranch, my rifles shoot Wolf MC 124gr FMJ, Wolf Polyformance 123gr FMJ, Barnual 123gr FMJ, and WOLF MC 124 SP super accurately (1"-1.3" MOA @ 100yrds).

I was pretty disdainful of that cartridge out of an SKS. Biggest reason that I never got an AK pattern gun until I learned about the 5.45x39. But it makes handy and accurate bolt gun fodder. I understand that Alaskan police carry Krebs AK's in 7.62x39 to deal with nuisance polar bears.

Great video glad I found your channel. I subscribed. I'm NOT CRIDISIZING you at all. But I must point out a mistake I think I can see you make. When you put the gun on your rest your moving it to different spots between shots. As much as two inches as I can tell from your footage. This raises and lowers the barrel and changes your scope angle. I'm glad I found your channel.
