I managed to get my avo grafting success rate up to 80% just by keeping them under shelter, out of the elements. I find that I can take scions almost anytime because different parts of the tree sometimes hold back their flushes. I use grafting strips to get the good connection, then parafilm over it. Also important to cut tiny slits above each bud that they can push through. I must admit I only use a sanitizer to clean my grafting knife. Might give antimicrobial or grapefruit seed a try. Thanks for a great Channel!
Why did he cut off to the side instead of down the middle? Is that because the scion was slightly smaller than the rootstock so since he offset it the cambiums matched up?
I have few avocado trees, Simmonds,Marcus pumpkin, Russell, Oro negro and Mexicola Grande. What variety do you think im missing to complete all seasons?
Planted a super haas tree a few years ago that fruited a handful of avocados this year & am disappointed with the uneven ripening for this type of avocado being true Plan on grafting with an avocado variety worth my while Any ideas? Anyone have any clippings they’d like to donate? I’m in South FL, Broward County Thank you
So you can only graft an avocado 1 month out of the entire year? Why did he just do that graft, it’s only October? He said it needs to be right before it flowers.
I’d like to know his grafting success rate compared to someone who doesn’t wash the scions. He made have just added himself a lot of unnecessary work. Or maybe he has a much higher success rate. 🤷🏼♂️
