Thanks to your videos and recommendations now i know which avocado trees i want. I ordered twice now form SleepyLizard and Lara farm and i was so happy with my orders. Thank you so very much i really appreciate it.
The "Bumpy Avocado" looks so different! I'm going to have to try; seems like one I'd like as I like the richer/nuttier flavored. I love the Oro Negro and the Nishikawa. I also have Lula and IMHO it's way too early to be eating those now; I get them in Jan/Feb/March and they are much better then. Good Job Paul!
Paul, I'm following you from Anaheim, CA 3-4 miles from Disneyland here. I really love this video you made of the Bumpy avocado (mostly). My primary interest is avocados and, since I have a 28-year-old mango tree, I'm learning more and more about mango varieties. I hope to get budwood of both to graft onto my avocado and mango trees. I generally like videos that 20 minutes long but your videos are so interesting that 5-55 minutes still keeps my attention.
I think you should stick with California varieties. They're generally better for California, as Florida varieties are better for Florida. I've lived in both places.
I got a Choquette, but my fruit is smaller. Also it was only a couple of weeks after Catalina, so not that late. Now I'm wondering if it was mislabeled and got something else. Both Choquette and Catalina were somewhat watery for me. In Miami, I started picking Catalina in late June, and the "Choquette" a few weeks later. I wish I could leave them on the tree longer, but the squirrels decimate them. I don't have a large tree, but I was done in early-mid July since I had to pick them in a hurry, sigh.
choquette early is usually watery, in fact most avocados are watery early june is a good tiem for Catalina. Alittle early for Choquette but that's my area, times are different near you
Great video, thank you Paul. Was you ever thinking about comparison taste test of Florida avocados with the same season's California one's ( as I know they claim that nothing could beat their Hass or Sharwill)? -)
Hey Paul, I have an oro negro tree because you talk highly of it. and it seems to be cold tolerant. It is about 3 feet tall and I’m north of Tampa. Do you know where I can get my hands on an oro negro 🥑 to try it?
I speak French. Show is not in any pronunciation in French. Shooket shooCat shoeKat Shoe Cat. Not SHOWCAT or SHOWKET It is SHOECAT I said that it’s pronounced as shoe cat, I didn’t say that it’s spelled Chaussure chat.
@@TimeToBeKind Ok, thanks for the French lesson. I stand corrected, but it's also up to the family/individual how they pronounce their name. Case in point: Hass avocado, pronounced "h-ass," by the family who grew the mother tree. But SHOE-CAT definitely sounds legit. Thanks!

Are there any avocados that grow well in South Carolina?
Thank you Paul! Looks awesome. How do you know when it's ripe? And, if you know, is it type A or B?
