9.52 out of 10. Thanks, LV37. A real treat for us hospitalised in agony. The other .48 will come at the exact same time as VMGs in commentary and coverage.
They should add some manoeuvres to the AC races, like you have to go around gates etc up the course so there's a few more spots where slow speeds are required and possible overtaking
Any reason these courses don’t reach? Upwind/downwind is fine and all but I’m seeing the fastest moments when they get across the wind at the top mark. If the idea is 1) to get these boats as fast as possible and 2) make the sport exciting, then why not have these boats at least for a portion of the course really drag race at their absolute best speed? I’m sure there’s a difference but aren’t most sailboats fastest on a beam reach?
My observations so far: tnz favouring smaller, lower-drag headsails than opponents. Tnz carries the most windward heel of any boat. Every race so far has been won by the faster starter, so maneuverability and handling in the prestart has been a more significant factor than raw boat speed. Britannia seems better downwind than upwind. since it's all apparent wind sailing the turbulent air always comes off the leader, so passing is ultra difficult. Courses too narrow, starting box too small and prestart too short for my liking.
There are more opportunities for lead changes when the boats are strict one-designs as used in match racing tournaments. For better or worse, though, this has never been the case for the AC.
Thanks for adding more coverage of the start sequence.
Goosebumps! ... Now the biggest change of the two helms is that now they can really do the pre-start properly and use the boats agility to best
393 meter deficit at start. 929 meter deficit at the end.
GBR is much slower than NZL.
I hope this is not an example of how this whole cup will go, then you only need to watch the start battle.
its match racing. the start is vital to winning. its hard to tell which designs are fast with half the teams still sorting prestart maneuvers out.
It tends to change as the crews get better, in the last finals there were several lead changes but I share your hope.
That start was an asskicking. Wow.

Time for Sir Ben to hand it over to the next generation.
looks like Ineos matched Emirate TNZ for speed but binned the whole race at the start
Russel Couts probably got other teams to sandbag against NZ. I wouldn’t put it past him.
Completely ridiculous. This circus has absolutely nothing to do with navigating a sailboat.
It's a real life spacie game machine played by bloke's.
What the heck does "Chicken winged" mean? 😂
Anyone know about the Women's racing ?
October after LV cup final. They'll be raced in the AC40 class as will the youth cup.
Thanks I hope it will be televised
@@kiwiroy48 I think the coverage is streams and apps depending on where you are. People in the US aren't so lucky......
Who needs this: start is 90%
Didn’t they pay attention what happened to formula 1 ???? 🤷🏼♂️👎🏻
