Amazing knives, at an amazing price, from an amazing company run by an amazing and really nice & helpful chap Carl. I have EDC Hoo knives now from the V1 & I have the V1, the V2, the V3 and the stunning V3 Timascus limited edition, I also have the V4 tanto on pre order. I really can't recommend Hoo enough I believe they truly are the best bang for your buck and believe anyone who likes knives will understand this from the first moment they get one in their hands, I collect knives and have 150+ ranging from £5 to over £1k and I'm still impressed with Hoo knives and the extremely tight tolerances and as close to perfect fit and finish and best stonewash finish you will find. I still love the V1 and think it a favourite, but I love tanto blade shapes and can't wait for the Hoo V4 Tanto to be delivered around August I think. I am Sorry to ramble on but when a company and product really impress me like Hoo has, I like to share that experience the best I can.
Not overly expensive for the quality at all. I think Benchmade are a bit overpriced for what they are. Im a WE knife fan. Ive got six. Recently purchased a couple of their budget civivi knifes, excellent value for money and have a few uk edc models in their range cheaply.
Had mine for a couple of weeks based on your review, awesome is all I can say. I would say it’s a bit chunky but love it nonetheless. I do like the Real Steel Luna which I also have in Titanium and would love to see the same Hoo design in that frame thickness?. Also agree that the Junzi is the next best EDC by the way I just got the Jade scales as there was only 2 left on the HH site at the time so got that to keep as best and can now use a black one as a beater. Interested in your next post and recommendations thanks for your suggestions.
I love my V3. I treated myself to one for Christmas and you are definitely right about the fidget factor😄. A great knife for a good price supporting UK Buisness👍
i have a v3 and a junzi. The hoo arrived and it's completely impossible to open with the thumb stud, I'm going to have to disassemble it and clean/oil it. The junzi is excellent
Both interesting folders. My main EDC used to be the UKPK various variants standard and interchanged now it's mainly the Spyderco Urban HHs red G10 scales with the S90V blade at work and another Urban with nice ti scales. Love the one hand opening and finger choil concept. Thanks for the vids. 👍
Just learned about that knife and company today. Focused on UK made since few days, since you have a quite impressive history in knife making over there. (Learned that the Barlow design is original from Sheffiled Area and ordered the TA Exclusive versions) The V3 is really an underrated gem in its class. I got an Vero Neuron (also double detent, non-locking) and like it very much, but it more a fidget toy than a knife for knife tasks. The V3 seems to be smart designed and quite safe compared to the Neuron. I sleep a night over it..but in the end I will get one, I guess. :) Thanks for your informative and well bespoken Review. Hi mate great review would love to see some budget options if you have any for 2024...wouldn't mind a nice every day carry for under £100 or from the £30-£80 mark.. Toying with a boker most wanted for in me rifke case for wen I'm out with it but that won't be an every day carry will litterally be for range stuff or hunting so will barely be out that's only around £25 but wouldn't mind a nice budget every day carry
Yes it doesn’t lock and is a short blade but the thumb tab could fall fowl of the automatic deployment ban. Watch the video by black belt barrister if you want more info. It’s a lovely looking knife though.
Flick knife, gravity knife, ‘switchblade’ or ‘automatic knife’ A knife where the blade opens automatically or is released from the handle, either by gravity or by pressing a button or something else on the knife
Is this holding up well? A few people on U.K. forums aren’t impressed. No one really has any interest on USA forums so it’s difficult to judge. Every review say that HOO contacted them and sent them a knife. Really like the V4 but I’m not 100% sure.

It all depends on the individual and what they think is an expensive knife. For an everyday use, well made item which lasts a lifetime I dont think its expensive.

Good to hear and really glad your enjoying the knives!!
@@simonk9561 I’ve seen a few people say the Luna is a better knife.
Just ordered the hoo v3 fully stonewashed

Great timing, just ordered mine, black on black
Review of V4 coming soon!

Does it have the thumbstud that is flush fit or a little longer? The flush fit are a little stiff to open when new.
@@thatgearguy don't have it to hand to check but pretty sure it's the longer ones than the v2

I thought any blade that can opened with one hand was also now illegal in the uk?
Not correct. That is Germany.
Great video 👍

It doesn't.
A court would decide that, so it's possible@@thatgearguy

@@shanxg69 they’d argue pressing the thumbstud. Daft, but never rely on the law not to be daft.

It is still in my EDC. Great knife. Hoo catch a lot of stick from boring UK knife forum nerds. The best advice I can give is dont read them!
@@thatgearguy I might go for a V4.
Bought a satin/carbon Junzi for now.
I thaught the legal length was 3 inches? That looks bigger
The total length of blade is 3". The blade on this is shorter.
Is this still legal for edc in the uk with the flipper tab?
Yes

They look nice but are mega priced
