The duel in the Derby was another great race as well but my favourite race of Khadullah was when he caught Regent Gold on the line. Slicer was the jock in that race. BIG UP ROHAN, UR THE BEST.
Chinna get the most out of his because he can change his hold on his reign and change his whip from a right hand to left hand something fanna never mastered so he aways get that extra from his horses
I keep on watching this race over and over again, my top two jockeys not in order of finish but Fanna and Bartley, I like all riders but Fanna, Bartley, Bimbo, F. Gillespie, N.Anderson, Ramgeet, Des Snith, R.Gonga and Barrington “ Wasp “ Harvey are my favorites
@@neillyr12robb86 ok I think I remember that race now.Jorge Campinese lost his whip in the straight and use his hand ✋ alone to ride Poor little rich girl to victory.i still can hear the Boos China Bartley get after the race 😂
Khadullah was a great racehorse at that time and did well amongst the best set of race horses at caymanaspark in the 90's. If it was nowadays where the competition is not stiff like back then Khadullah would have won more races.
Just watching the replay again and I am very convinced that Bartley best Fanna on the wire, I am very happy for the winning connections, even when Fanna lose a classic race he always put up a very good fighting chance, I was looking at the Derby that Bimbo won on Thornbird and Fanna was flying very fast on My Apology from way off the pace and if he had just a little more real estate he would won, one Saturday afternoon in the eighties, Bimbo on Dye Job and Fanna on Ankaar Moore with 133lbd and 99-1 closing like a runaway train and just missed pipping Bimbo on the line because he was too far off the pace.
Mattis removed the visor for this race after his loss to Distinctly Native in the Derby, where "Narry" Ramgeet rode him and reportedly told Kenneth Mattis he couldn't rate him the way he wanted to because he was too sharp in the "face mask." Both horses came back distressed after completing the marathon, which prompted Chris Armond to reduce the St. Leger to a 10-furlong contest. Bartley was winning his fifth St. Leger that day after piloting Our Secret, My Apology, D's A Legend and Persian Invader from 1983 to 1986, respectively. Would've probably gone 5 consecutive wins had he had the leg up on the vanquished in its 1987 renewal, which saw Monday Morning (Patrick Beckford up) lifting the Triple Crown in a tight finish ahead of Shining Hour (Narry up). That day Bartley rode Spectacular Kid for Mattis rather than stablemate Shining Hour and didn't even finish the race after "breaking down" on the backstretch. Heaven knows why (no pun intended) Bartley made that decision!!! Mattis had won 4 consecutive St. Legers (1966-69) as a jockey, which led some people to think Mattis tricked Bartley into making that decision so that he wouldn't surpass his St. Leger record as a jockey.
