This Kevin person graduated PRE-MED FROM YALE, can speak FLUENT MANDARIN, can play the CELLO and SIMULTANEOUSLY BEAT-BOX and is now a prominent member of Pentatonix - okay, I wouldn't even know what to do with HALF the talent he has.
+Fun.chuck They had the number 2 selling album on iTunes last year and they have been touring almost non-stop since the sing-off. I would say yes... definitely millionaires.
As someone who specifically came on to UA-cam to find this today, off a faint memory of "incredible cello beat boxer", from over a decade ago... This comment resonates with me.
I showed this video to my wife on the night we met and it was one of the reasons she fell in love with me. Thank you we've been married for 5 years now and your wonderful expression of the diversity of the human soul through music still keeps us coming back to watch again and again. Thank you
Docktor Jim I wouldn't go that far. He's devised the art of Cello-boxing. In fact the basis of beatboxing is Rhythm which is one of the most important aspects of music. So taking that to another level of technical and artistic skill is as important as using your voice to sing. I'd go as far to say that if he remained just a nice singer and became an even more amazing beatboxer, I'd be totally happy :)
If you are looking for more, he sings an entire verse at the end of the Pentatonix Counts (& sings) to 5" Sesame Street vid :) My daughter watches it every night before bath time!
I have listened to this over and over and never grow tired of the talent and unique sound this piece brings. It just makes me want to close my eyes and fall into the beat of this song and let it take me on anadventure. This guys is amazing !!!
So the beat boxer is one of the most legit up there?!... Kevin, hats off to you good sir! You are an inspiration, thanks for sharing your talents and God bless!!
I never thought 6 years ago I would stand twenty feet away from this and hear it live. The cello has always thinned the boundary between the physical and ethereal for me.
i went to one of their concerts in Indianapolis a few days ago, it was amazing and I started crying because I never thought I would be able to see them in person! I listened to them for about 7 years before I actually got to listen to them live!
Don't forget, he was also enrolled in Yale university as a pre-med student, performed twice in Carnegie Hall has a cello soloist, AND won second place in the “Celebrate and Collaborate with Yo-Yo Ma” international competition.
One of the 2 UA-cam videos that started everything... Imagining a world where these videos weren't uploaded makes me emotional. So proud of how far Pentatonix has come in 4 and a half years.
I actually just spoke to Kevin`s father, which is a doctor and a very kind soul. He said he teaches master cello playing in Germany, and has never had a lesson. He is indeed a true gift to the world, and to my opinion a natural master at his game...
Have loved Kevin's work with Pentatonic, but am even more amazed by his cello beatboxing. What a talented guy! I hope he produces some solo work some time.
It's musicians/artists like THIS that deserve recognition. What incredible talent! It's too bad that what we deserve and what we get are often two very different things. It's a shame this doesn't have more views. Fantastic performance!
I need to cuss to express how freakin heart, soul, and mind moving that was.... wow. As someone said previously you are the "KO". Pentatonix is so blessed to have you.
OMG... you have come a long way and I don’t know what music would be like without you!!! You have sparked such a big interest for me in music. Without you and PTX I don’t think I would be as good of a Saxophonist as I am today. I love you so much and I hope you and PTX keeps inspiring people like me to get involved and join the world of music. Keep doing what you love and don’t let anything hold you back from doing incredible things.😄😄😄
I friggin' love this guy. He's so amazing, and his work in Pentatonix is just incredible! He's awesome. This one is wonderful, but it's missing a little bit of the end.
I am a musician, and Even after months of listening to it, this song takes me to a different place, Thanks K.O. May fortune favor you where ever you go.
What I love is because of Kevin and a couple of other musicians, instruments such as the cello are getting more publicity. I see lots of violins, flutes and pianos (me being guilty of playing one of those) but Kevin takes absolute pride in playing he's cello
This guy is an excellent, well accomplished music. I've heard some pretty good interpretations of beat boxing, but I've never heard someone play an instrument like the cello while beat boxing. Beyond that I've never heard someone do either of these things individually as good as he does. What I love most about him apart from that he's an incredible musician, is that it's so seamless and yet very expressive at the same time. I was digging it 100%. I love that pause he did too at the end.
I swear, I have listened to this song about 50 times, and it never fails to amaze me. Kevin Olusola is the greatest cellist I have ever heard, and believe me, I have heard some amazing cellists. K.O., if you are reading this, this topped Edvard Grieg's "Allegro Agitato" (Op. 36). Please continue to inspire cellists like myself with your wonderful music.
I can just imagine Scott watching this, jaws wide open, all excited and showing Kirstie and Mitch this. "We found him! We found the missing piece to our group!"
I think I may be the only person left in the world who found this video via Pentatonix, not the other way around. The depth of talent in that group amazes me. KO, keep being awesome.
If he did the chorus of the song really quick at the end and then ended it it would be hands down the best cello solo I'd ever seen. It already is the best cello solo I've ever seen. WELL DONE KEVIN!
In fifth grade, my strings/orchestra teacher showed us this video. I didn't realize this was Kevin from Pentatonix until I came back here today: October 10th, 2019.
This Kevin person graduated PRE-MED FROM YALE, can speak FLUENT MANDARIN, can play the CELLO and SIMULTANEOUSLY BEAT-BOX and is now a prominent member of Pentatonix - okay, I wouldn't even know what to do with HALF the talent he has.
and earns millions with pentatonix
+Hninjamaster Z do you really think they earn millions?
+Fun.chuck They had the number 2 selling album on iTunes last year and they have been touring almost non-stop since the sing-off. I would say yes... definitely millionaires.
+phreak1118 woooo that is crazy
+Art Movement if u think about he made millions and got a grammy with JUST his beatboxin nevermind all the other shit
Finding my way back to this video after 12 years is like being home.
As someone who specifically came on to UA-cam to find this today, off a faint memory of "incredible cello beat boxer", from over a decade ago... This comment resonates with me.
The secret weapon of the Pentatonix.
curacha lmao hahah
And this is how a legend began.
Mike Rotch Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
It's so cool seeing a piece of PTX's history😊
Chills
I am so glad that this exists and scott saw it and ptx came together
It's cool how everyone in PTX is goofing off and having fun with themselves but when it's time to perform, they're focused FOCUSED FOCUSSSSEEEEDDD!
that's how the real artists do :D
I showed this video to my wife on the night we met and it was one of the reasons she fell in love with me. Thank you we've been married for 5 years now and your wonderful expression of the diversity of the human soul through music still keeps us coming back to watch again and again. Thank you
That's risky.. you're lucky she didn't fall in love with Kevin. 🤣
I feel like the cello music is telling a story.
It is. It is :)
It's hard work finding a video of Kevin singing. He sang the end of "Say Something", and melted me.
He sings a bit of The Little Drummer Boy. Two or 3 lines I believe.
Suchiththa Wickremesooriya He does! Beautiful voice. I find it to be a better contribution than beatboxing.

SanchoPanda VTW Sadly, PTX was not asked back to do the number 6.
I still can't get over how incredible he is..
As long as there are such gifted people like him, there is still hope
I have listened to this over and over and never grow tired of the talent and unique sound this piece brings. It just makes me want to close my eyes and fall into the beat of this song and let it take me on anadventure. This guys is amazing !!!
I just discovered him and your comment us exactly what I did! It takes you there!!
So the beat boxer is one of the most legit up there?!... Kevin, hats off to you good sir! You are an inspiration, thanks for sharing your talents and God bless!!
this guy... one of my favorite humans on the planet.
too much talent in one video HELP
12 years later this video still gives me chills! I show it to anyone I ever get into a cello/orchestra conversation with. Pure. Crazy. Talent.
I love how you can do two things at once! Marvelous! 💠🎶🎶🔊
I never thought 6 years ago I would stand twenty feet away from this and hear it live. The cello has always thinned the boundary between the physical and ethereal for me.

Oct.5: Happy birthday to multi-talented Kevin Olusola of Pentatonix. Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload. Blessings
I didn't want it to stop, beautiful music. Truly... Freaking inspiring.
One of the 2 UA-cam videos that started everything... Imagining a world where these videos weren't uploaded makes me emotional. So proud of how far Pentatonix has come in 4 and a half years.
For those of you curious, the original song is called "Julie-O" by Mark Summer
I actually just spoke to Kevin`s father, which is a doctor and a very kind soul. He said he teaches master cello playing in Germany, and has never had a lesson. He is indeed a true gift to the world, and to my opinion a natural master at his game...
you spoke to his father? woahh. I live in Germany so its pretty cool :)
Ime yes kevin is in Germany, now his father is a doctor in Maryland, USA...Greetings..
+OLD BAY you mean his dad is? :)
+Ime ....in Germany?
Ime LOL No, Kevin is, his dad is in Maryland....
Amazing. It's kind of an honor to be let into a musician's head when he's just..... lost it, happy, creative, one with his instrument.
Have loved Kevin's work with Pentatonic, but am even more amazed by his cello beatboxing. What a talented guy! I hope he produces some solo work some time.

This is literally my favorite thing on UA-cam
Almost 10 years ago I walked down the isle and married my best friend to this song, couldn’t be more grateful and honoured 🥰
Saw PTX in concert and was blown away. But then this man played cello plus his beatbox. The best thing I’ve ever seen musically.
I saw him for the first time last night (9-14-2023) and was utterly stunned at his amazing talent. I wanted more!
I need to cuss to express how freakin heart, soul, and mind moving that was.... wow. As someone said previously you are the "KO". Pentatonix is so blessed to have you.

Amazing! He has a lot of talent!! WOW :)
This is amazing! Last night I went to a pentatonix concert and I watched him play this. He is truly talented

This is the single greatest video on UA-cam.
My teacher went to school Yale with this guy
ほんとにいつも勇気を貰ってます。
昔から落ち込んだ時よく聴きに来ます。 落ち着いて寝られそうです。ありがとう。
the combination of the old (classical) and the new (beatbox), wow.
I've watched this video literally 100 times it's so beautiful it makes me smile :)
he changed Pentatonix
He didn't change shit he MADE!!!! Pentatonix Kevin's beatboxing could match a army of background musicians
Noah Orakwue Why u hating bro
Noah Orakwue What has he ever done to u
+HaiHai Hu hi didn't hate, he said he made pentatonix instead of changing them
ohhh my bad

Kevin does this on tour this year, it's so amazing to see live.
Kevin from the famous Pentatonix was came from here! oh my glob.. Scott the leader of the Pentatonix was watched this and become their member!! :D

2019 and still watching this👌🏾👌🏾
I could watch him and listen all day - he got soul!
I think I may be the only person left in the world who found this video via Pentatonix, not the other way around. The depth of talent in that group amazes me. KO, keep being awesome.
He is absolutely amazing. Loving the sounds.
Beautiful...beautiful...BEAUTIFUL !!! I have this stuck on repeat now !!
I’ve been listening to this song every day of my life since 2015
just saw Kevin recreate this with Pentatonix in Ithaca. Love...so much love from the group, from the audience, from our hearts.
Sitting here with my 6 and 8 year old G’kids, they are loving it.
This rocks 🎶
cello playing coming to life with KO! simply amazing. looking forward to seeing more of his videos. #EpicCello #NewKOFan
So much raw talent here!
I just simply LOVE his talent!
I watched them today and he played this as they talked about how they found his video. Happy 7 years to Pentatonix 💖💖
i could listen to this over and over again.
the video that started it all
From beatboxing in his room with a cello to touring the world with the premiere Capella group in the world. Good job, KO.
Kevin is really inspiring. He's one of the reasons I am learning the cello...
If he did the chorus of the song really quick at the end and then ended it it would be hands down the best cello solo I'd ever seen. It already is the best cello solo I've ever seen. WELL DONE KEVIN!
Other than liking this, you need say nothing. Talent speaks for itself. Kevin does, eloquently.
Would love to see him around a lot.
Cuanto talento. Este tipo de gente merece la pena un gran aplauso de pie. Entiende y ama la musica que le permite vivir de ello. Simplemente genial
I am absolutely in love with this video! It makes me smile and dance all the time!
Just saw him live with Pentatonix tonight! I've seen this video a few times and never knew it was him until he mentioned this video at the show!
I keep coming back to this video because is so good. Good show, man!
In fifth grade, my strings/orchestra teacher showed us this video. I didn't realize this was Kevin from Pentatonix until I came back here today: October 10th, 2019.
