This is one of your best videos! The audio, editing, acting, and camerawork was great!
Well thank you!
Good Job Russ! Because of this review I will be seriously considering getting this system. Thanks again!
Great info! The audio does sound clear, much more than the other sources. It sounds a bit muted to me on the phone, but really good on your Sony. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for the review Russ. The comica does sound like a good solution and we all should consider. Again thanks for the comparisons.
Thanks for the find and the field test. I purchased one through your link and went over the their page and dropped a hashtag
The Comica sounds awesome. I was aware of the ES-50's bu this one is amazingly simple. Thanx Russ!!! Also entered and I hope for sure I win. The one main drawback I see is having to have so much expendable money to keep up with all the new technology to stay somewhat up to date and competitive.
Wow, the change was pretty noticeable.. I have been experimenting with different external mic's I'll look at this one in more detail. Great video, thanks
Once again excellent review and just ordered via Amazon UK for the Combo. Thank you!!
Thank you for the review. I will definitely get this mic to start my channel.
Great review. This is exactly what we are looking for, as we record in noisy bars. Thanks!
You are a trooper! Another 'Snow Review by Russ" Your Winter series!! Great review!
What a great review. Really liked this, thank you.
Thanks for your review, I am planning to buy a new microphone, I will include WS60 in my consideration.
NICE, Ross! Thanks. I look forward to much better sound on your videos. I actually think this set is going to replace my trusted ZOOM sets to avoid the hazel of synchronizing in post.
Noticed in the kitchen test that unplugging the receiver throws off the sync, or is it "sink" while in the kitchen. Great test and opinions. Thanks for going out in the cold for us.
Excellent and informative! Thanks a lot!
Excellent review. Thank you. I'll be ordering these 👍
Second place once again! Great Review.
The sound is excellent, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for doing this, I'm going to buy this next!
Talking about a range test makes me what to point out common ways to get audio for people to consider if they want to start making videos or up the quality. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Option A is mic on camera such as built-in or external options like a Rode. Option B is a remote mic feeding into the the camera by wire or wireless in real time such as what you show in this video. Option C is audio recorded separately and sync'd with video in editing such as a Zoom or Tascam digital audio recorder using their built-in or lavalier mic. Option D is creating and adding the audio after the video was recorded (aka narration) which sometimes is the best or only way to deal with original audio that is too messed up to be usable.
Excellent review. I was looking at this. Like it.
Great review Russ, thank you for weathering the cold again. My biggest issue is getting started and having an older computer that doesn't support any of the pro editing programs or even the Rode Firmware programs. Would you consider doing a detailed video on your new computer and why you selected certain components for video editing and vlogging? Thank you!🤠
Good comparison, and a really nice looking hoodie...!
Grear review Russ! The Comica sounds impressive. Unfortunately, Facebook is not my thing.
I had to stop your video so I can say WOW what a difference in sound. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Nice review! Comica WS-60 sounds very similar to the the Samson GMM but I like that it comes with two transmitters for about the same price.
Good review Russ! My primary choice for recording voices for audio is a wired microphone with xlr cable connection, but this is really great...good range, too! Using a smart phone would very much simplify the process for sure. Wonder how well it would do indoors say if your at a convention or something competing with other signals?
Good option. Definitely buying this one!
Great review, thank you!
That was awesome how this new mic 🎤 work Russ. I went to their page maybe I win one but if not I added to my amazon list to buy one. I want it.
Through the Facebook link sent by Russ, I learned more about their products and made me feel good.
Great review. If I did more narration on my videos, I would probably buy one of these.
Great review!
Wow! Russ - really wonderful clarity and I love it. How do I win one? I love where you live too. Thanks for demonstrating this product.
i just bought it at NAB show for $130 great price and Great Device
Great solution. Thanks
It did sound good there thanks for sharing with us this.. but i have to say i was just waiting for you to go off the screen and keep on walking lol👍
Awesome video!
Nice review sounds like a great solution.
Great video thanks for the review. I have been looking for a great wireless lav set up to start with and I think I’ve found it!
I am selling this one if you are interested! Basically new, but at a good discount! Let me know!
51 Drones how much?
This is perfect for me to start my reviews for work!
Great video Rus. I did register for the giveaway. I just got my Osmo Pocket and that would be a great addition. Thanks for the review. Very informative.
Impressed with the wireless mic just a bit pricey for me at the moment.
Great video but that weather sucks. Hope the snow clears for you soon!
Ditto! Itching to fly!
Interesting wireless system 👍
Excellent information, even at -40. Still trying to get editing but can’t figure out a good inexpensive package to use.
G'day Russ. Mate, you need to consider subscribers living outside of the USA when limiting response numbers. We are sleeping while you lot are active. Nonetheless, another great review that will seriously make me consider the Comica unit. Cheers mate.
It was not my choice to set the number. Comica set that, and I wasn't going to argue. Sorry.
@@51Drones I understand Russ. Please, no need to apologise, I was only offering a suggestion. Cheers mate.
What camera app do you use? Great review btw!¡
Nice Sound good noise reduction
What App are you using to record Audio on your smartphone? And in the kitchen are you filming and recording with your phone?
Fantastic Russ, I think I am gunna buy this mic set up real soon. 51dronesgiveaway
Lighting and learning the manual settings of the camera to get more cinematic shots is still challenging to me.
How well does it work if your close to your camera and the receiver in your pocket? Does it need to be exposed still if your close?
Hello,
I wonder if the transmitters have plugin power (PIP).
Have you test them with other microphones like rode smartlav+ or Rode Videomicro ?
there is a lot of hissing/static noise with the comica until around the 7 minute mark, why is that? thanks
Hi thx for your video. Do you have a Link for the right cable adapter for the iPhone SXmax ?! Thank you for your support 🙏🏻
If you get two of them, two mics, at the same channnel, both can be hear?
Thanks Rus 51 Drones, I wish to be a better Video creator. I've simply used cameras of my smart phones over the years, and even though I tried to get phones with decent video cameras such as Lumia(s), the weakness has always been the audio. So with your suggested solution on a phone like the one I am thinking of getting, an LG G8, which has a DAC 3.5 jack, I think my video content will improve immensely, most noticeably the audio with the Comica.
Thanks for the review, great job! Comica has reached out to me for the same system, and I am currently working on my own review. If its okay with you, I may include a short fair use footage of your review, including a card link and description link to your channel, as I doubt I will be able to do a sound test in a windy environment like you. I hope it will be alright with you, I will also follow this up with an email.
Nice review, thanks for your effort! Regarding struggles, I'm having fun trying to create drone videos but stare at the camera like a deer in the headlights sometimes. Been told I have a great face for radio though... :)
Lol. It gets easier. You just have to pretend you are talking to a friend.
Really, thanks for the advice, I'll try that... though I suppose it needs to be one of my "G Rated" friends? :)
Thanks.
Hey! Can this record automatically into the camera? Basically, I notice you used an app to record your voice on the phone, I was wondering if that's necessary for Micro 4/3ds or full frame cameras. As for the challenge, I would say its clarity of what I want to do. I have so many ideas but its not specific. I am getting better in narrowing it down but im open to hear others out to on how they clarified their vision.
What's with that ting sound when you were outside on the comica ?
Hullo, anyone still our here? Thanks for this. Quick one: do i have to still edit the audio and sync it into the video or you get the audio straight into the video, no need to edit etc
can you add headset to listen to someone in a live videocall??
I'm thinking of buying and I have a question in my head ... Is it available for live broadcasting? Can we use facebook live broadcast or whatsapp live broadcast?
Right now, winter is the biggest problem I have!
Is there a hand microphone for this model ???
can I use this with any camera?
I want it!!
Hey Russ, about how long will the batteries last? Have you run into any time limitation or do they far exceed your phone/gopro/osmo battery life?
I did not check battery life, sorry. I would assume that rechargeable batteries would be the best choice.
Russ, you lost me at first. I could not figure out why you were hooking it up to a smartphone and walking away from the phone and the camera. The Comica system looks good and will work on most camera but I have been going through the same thing as you but my answer was different than yours. I picked up a very small digital audio recorder. It was inexpensive, 16GB and the recording is outstanding, really. Then I just take the SD card and load it into my video editor and sync. It works like a charm and is only one small device about 5 in x 2 in x 1/4 inch.
at the beginning the Comica WS-60 sounds not really good in your Video till around 7:00 .... after that it sounds better...what do you change?
No changes throughout the entire vid.
Great video! I have one question about the batteries on this. It's not mentioned anywhere what happens if one were to through some rechargeable batteries in these... Will the usb port charge them or is it only configured to run power straight to the devise?
It will not charge them. Only powers the device.
@@51Drones thank you! I think that's a huge drawback but it's still a good looking product.
That ws60 sounds great. I just need to convince myself that someone might want to watch my videos and listen to my narrative.
Don't do it for them. Do it for you, and the true followers will eventually come. It's a different mindset.
I love to see what people call budget...
I film sports so for example volleyball and basketball. I need a mic that I can mic those athletes up that has an internal mic that sounds good but won’t cut out when there are other athletes moving in front of them or if they turn their back to me with the receiver
Do you know if i can use the mic with iPhone sx max and the Moment App ?! an can i use the Mic to connect the basic station with the Gopro 7 ?! THX for support
I honestly couldn't tell you. As for the GoPro, I will check when I get home today!
It did not work, but I don't think I have the correct dongle.
@@51Drones for me it is important that it works with iPhone s x max and moment app + lence :) Thank you
@@KostaYoga dear, i had tried, it is compatible with IOS sytem, and if you need to ues it with Gopto 7, one audio adapter cable is required:)
I wonder how it compares with the rode wireless go. I like that this one comes with two transmitters. How far can you go without line of sight?
The wireless go is much better. As far as line of sight, you still need a pretty direct line.
51 Drones ok, good to know, thank you!
Tried to buy the unit using your link but Amazon says it is currently unavailable and they do not know when or if it will be back in stock. If you have another source you might want to list it. Thanks.
I did change the link. The problem now is that there is a 3 week shipping time. They do expect more at Amazon. I will post that link when they are available.
Thanks Russ. Really enjoy your channel. Lots of good info here.
Here first
I hope I win. If I do you will see me posting things right away using it. This is just what I need for me and my daughter to start up our dad and daughter channel.
Hi Russ.
How did you connect it to the Gopro?
I didn't. I just synced it in Premiere Pro
Hi, my greatest Problem is, Storage and find the footage again.......
Video and audio seem out of sync, is this a limitation of the device or did something slide in editing?
Can you give me a timestamp example? I don't notice it anywhere.
51 Drones sorry must have been my computer, I rewatched again and now it’s fine. So sorry, thanks for the great content!
Nice, can u see if they will give u discount code? Thanks
Maybe at a later date. Right now they just offered the giveaway.

I have some kind of sinus issue and know that voice always sounds snotty. Even the best mic in the world can’t cure that
Lol!
Not available with the link.
Fixed it. Must have sold out in the other one!
@@51Drones Thank you!
LOS looked like maybe 75 feet to your neighbor's mailbox to me.
It's actually 139 feet as the crow flies. I can send you an overhead photo with the tape measure if you like.
wind muff not dead mice!
Dead mice is so much more quaint. 😁
@@51Drones lol
I think it’s hilarious how someone will discuss how important audio is then budget $3,500 for a camera body and $2,200 for a lens, but less than $300 for audio. Like Linus Tech, when they upgraded to Reds, they budgeted over $100,000 for camera bodies and lenses, then were disappointed when the $2,000 they spent on audio didn’t quite cut it.
In the last show I worked on for discovery, I brought $45,000 worth of audio gear. The camera department in whole (3 bodies, 3 lenses for each, batteries and spares) totaled about $30,000 - $40,000 in value.
It’s not always that way - sometimes the lenses alone are worth more than my whole kit - but do you think the average viewer truly notices the difference between a $12,000 lens and a $600 lens? Those Fujinon HD lenses are gorgeous! But the viewers only care about the story, so the 24-70’s on those C100 Mk 1’s worked just fine for that TV show. Cheap wireless lavs never would have survived the environment. If someone is serious about professional video production, they should be putting a good percentage of their budget - and effort - toward audio, even if it means getting a less expensive camera body. Because,’like you said, if color, resolution, depth of field, or even focus is a little off, viewers really won’t care, as long as the content is there. But if it sounds bad, the story is lost, and the audience will bail.the truth is, every area needs to be in appropriate balance to keep people interested. One is not more or less important than the other.
And, man, how disappointing to hear you say, “I don’t wanna learn how to do it!” It’d be no different if I were to say I want to be a professional aerial videographer and earn my living at it, but I don’t want to learn how to pilot a drone - I just want it to be easy so I can focus on the actual important stuff!!
Great review!
