@Ingerul_Mortii - NO SIR! I BLESS your soft, lonely heart! I am 70, and I understand! For reasons I don't understand, I woke up today with this song running through my mind, such an earworm, making me tear up just hearing it in my mind! So, I decided I needed to pull up the song and actually listen, and then maybe the earworm will go away! Ended up blubbering! Then I read your comment! Thank you for your service, and for your soft heart!

Such beautiful memories you have. My Dad died 30 years ago. I miss him so much sometimes. We never had moments like that. He was an alcoholic and slept a lot, but I always wanted him to love me like that. He sobered up before he died and we spent his last 2 years of life hanging out when I wasn’t working. Simple things like hikes, walks on the beach in the fall, and then long drives when he was having a hard time breathing. I wish I had more time to get to know him. Now I’m in my late 50’s and wish I had asked him so many things. I’m hoping he’s in heaven and I will see him again.
Today, July 12th,2024 I read that Dave Loggins passed at 76. He was in hospice carr So sad to learn of another wonderful songwriter pass away. This is one of my favorite songs. It came out when I was a senior in high school. My 38 year old son was just now walking around singing it. He asked if I knew it. I just laughed and said one of the best songs of my teen years. He said he found it by listening to David Allen Coe. I told him it brings back a sweet memory of his dad, my hubby who just passed a few months ago. But David Allen Coe didn’t write it. We just listened to the original together. I told him that his dad was supposed to go work at a plant in Beaumont, Texas when we were young and I couldn’t go because I was in nursing school…sometimes he would call and sing please come to Beaumont to live forever…I’d laugh and say..no..you come home to me! He only stayed in Beaumont a few weeks and my rambling boy did come home to Houston. We made a good life and lived happily ever after! 52 years together…
I was born in Tennessee in ‘71…and until the day I pass from this life, this will be one of *the most beautiful* songs I’ve ever been blessed to enjoy. Some songs are so much more than the sum of their parts.

"Please Come to Boston" makes me stop in my tracks whenever I hear this song. I get teary-eyed eyed as well. Jim Croce brings me to tears as well.
I a long time ago had a boyfriend I just loved! But he had a rambling heart. I journeyed with him once across country. Within 3 months he wanted to return closer to home. So we moved closer to home. I was happy for that. Within a year he was ready to return to the cross country place. I moved home. We split but yearned for each other. I quit hearing from him directly, threw friends I knew his whereabouts. But had given up on a stable relationship with him. One day he returned home, my heart jumped!!! I was married. He and I remained close friends as we worked at the same place. He married and was happy and I was happy for him. He had finally found “ home”. He has found a new “ home”. Forgive my rambling, this song reminds me of him. I miss him.
I'm heartbroken over the passing of such a talented songwriter and singer!! I sing this at karaoke, and it's always been a favorite song of mine!!!!! RIP 🙏🏻💔
I was a teenager when this song came out. I would wait to hear it on the radio for days on end, and then, finally hearing it, I couldn't stop singing that main chorus.... the lyrics are just so beautiful. R.I.P. to a wonderful artist who takes me back in time. ❤ 🎶
This is what songwriting is all about. This is a song, not just a disposable piece of pop music. I've loved this song ever since it came out. The 70s had some of the greatest songs ever. Most pop music today is just the aural equivalent to fast food.
Many years ago I was in a relationship with a guy who was a DJ and he would always play this song for me. He has since passed away but whenever I hear this song it brings back those romantic memories.
@@MalchikGuy , as in “emotional bomb”…a powerful song packing powerful emotions has to have a well composed melody. You never had a heavy experience you can relate to in a particular song that triggers strong emotional reactions? I guess I have, so the bomb analogy stays even if you cannot relate🤣
I fell in love with this song in 2005 when I was ramblin’ to Arizona to try and find my place in the world. I would play it over and over again. Now, after so many years and so many places I’ve called home since then, I have settled back in Tennessee where I will live forever. And this song will always remind me that you will never know where you truly belong until you’ve been where you don’t.
I am 62. Back when I was in the Air Force in 1981, I remember buying an album (one of those K-Tel collections) at the store on base that had this song and another song I really liked - "Into the Night" by Benny Mardones. Now both of these "one hit wonders" are gone.... but not forgotten! RIP Dave (and Benny) and thanks for the memories......
RIP Dave. You nailed this song. I moved to TN in 2016 and live on the edge of The Smokies. I love it and this song. That high note at the end is killer. Ironic, that I you tuned this on the day he passed. Here's to you Dave.
I was 11 when this came out. For some reason I loved it from the first time I heard it. I loved the passion of his partner to ask him to come home. Fast forward 50 years, I married a man from Tn. 27 years ago and I sing this to him all the time. I am his number one fan❤️❤️
Saw Dave perform this in Hays, Kansas years ago on a nasty winter night. He was supposed to open for Pure Prairie League, but wound up closing the show. He was to fly from Kansas City to Hays, but all flights were grounded. Instead he rented a car and drove to Hays through a near blinding snow storm. What a trooper!
I thought this song came out in the early 80s but it was the 70s no music today can even begin to compare to the music of yesterday's. This song brings back the good memories. I once known. Wish the world could be like that again.
I was 10 years old when this song came out. I remember walking through my parents' living room and seeing him perform it on stage on the TV. I fell in love with it immediately, and I've replayed it thousands of times since. The nostalgia it carries with it will never fail to bring me peace. RIP Dave.
This song woke me up out of a dead sleep back in the day! I was in love with a young artist and we were not together the night I first heard this song. Well we’ve reunited and the love is as strong as it was back in the day. Thank you Mr. Loggins for this beautiful song that has made my heart sing throughout the years.
This was one of my mom and dad’s FAVORITE songs when I was goin up . I’m 53 yrs old and mom has been gone since 06 dad since 22 !! I STILL sing this song ALL THE TIME and think of them EVERYDAY!!! I play it on the guitar and my wife says. You LOVE that song don’t ya !!! Crazy how your mind works !!! I remember EVERY WORD of this song after all of these years and ALWAYS will !!!!
RIP Dave Loggins. My husband was in Jasmine Band from Dallas that opened the show for Loggin's trio that year at McNeese State Univ. in Lake Charles. You were a true talent and sorry that you got in crossfire of Johnnie Matthis during his recording of your song.
This song is part of the soundtrack of my childhood. 1974... I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 7 years old, with an older sister, two older brothers, a younger brother and another one on the way. We were an active family that year and i remember countless road trips and adventures, either perched in the "rumble seat" of our big blue '72 Pontiac Grand Safari wagon on our way to a weekend of sun, sand 'n' surf in Rehoboth Beach or squeezed in the back seat of Dad's badass Cougar Eliminator as we headed up to our getaway in the Poconos, where we boys - the "Little Knuckleheads" - would swim, fish, hike and tear up back trails on our mini-bikes. There are times I SO pine for those days that my heart hurts...

@susanryan2451 Awwww. You are so sweet. If you are a boomer, we really grew up with the best music. If you are younger than a boomer, you were raised well. "Please Come to Boston" makes me stop in my tracks whenever I hear this song. I get teary-eyed eyed as well. Jim Croce brings me to tears as well.
@@diva70smusic@diva70smusic yep born in the 50s, still living and living this music. Best from L.A.❤❤😂
As a kid from the 70s, I have always and will always love this song. RIP Dave, and thanks for the awesome memories.
I just have to say if some guy asked me that nicely, I just might consider! Love this song
I can listen to this song over and over…great song..
RIP 🙏🏻💔
One of my favorite my daughter getting married today 21st of September happy sad day for me 🙏
Woke up to Dave Loggins' song in my head. Thanks for that, Dave. If you only created one thing in your life, this song would be enough.
I did too. One of my favs
Sounds like a insults I think his signing is Great
@@marysaylor9510 Thing about signing is you can't hear it. I do like his singing, though.
How funny, there are times I wake up with this song in my head also. Lonely I guess.
It actually made an appearance in my dream last night, so I wanted to listen to the original after I woke up.
I was a teenager when this song came out. I would wait to hear it on the radio for days on end, and then, finally hearing it, I couldn't stop singing that main chorus.... the lyrics are just so beautiful. R.I.P. to a wonderful artist who takes me back in time. ❤ 🎶
This song I will always cherish ❤️ I'm a Tennessee girl. It reminds me of my Daddy.RIP
Me too!
Ima Louisiana man.
I had to play it again.
I'm not ready to come back to the now!
Man I'd forgotten about this song for decades and idk why but it's making me weep.
😢
This is what songwriting is all about. This is a song, not just a disposable piece of pop music. I've loved this song ever since it came out. The 70s had some of the greatest songs ever. Most pop music today is just the aural equivalent to fast food.
True...😮😊
Your not more right. I have a playlist full of 150+ classics like these, not a single song after 2010 is on it
thx, you said it all. greetings from austria.
Well 😢 said
This song has stood the test of time. It has no age; just a timeless classic.
Absolute best song best times
Sad to hear Dave passed away. love this song. R.I.P. Dave. thanks for the music.
This is why I follow Rick Beato. To discover amazing music like this song, that I would probably never find by myself
Perhaps Rick should feature this on his "What Makes This Song Great?" series.
It’s just so good. We may not know why like Rick but we still know.
Listen to Paul Davis, I go crazy
Many years ago I was in a relationship with a guy who was a DJ and he would always play this song for me. He has since passed away but whenever I hear this song it brings back those romantic memories.
A song that every now and then crosses over time and back into my life, and hits me like a bomb every single time. ❤️😭
Yes... and it sucks. ❤
@@hipchicagal2111 , as so many great love songs do. But in the best way…
A beautiful song of regret 😢
Odd
Soothing melodies never hit me like a 'bomb'
@@MalchikGuy , as in “emotional bomb”…a powerful song packing powerful emotions has to have a well composed melody. You never had a heavy experience you can relate to in a particular song that triggers strong emotional reactions? I guess I have, so the bomb analogy stays even if you cannot relate🤣
He did great work, this song is one of the many that was the soundtrack of my childhood. Rest well.
GREAT SONG. GREAT SINGER
How is Tennesee
True ❤️
it's a strange thing, isn't it? I live in the good ole south too!
I have always thought this was about the singer. I just came to understand that it was about the woman who loved him and offered him true love.
His voice has so much "want" in it. LOVE THIS SONG!
So true. This is one of the few songs that brings tears to my eyes. So much heartbreak in this song.
I think of the carefree young person I was, of the times down at the beach of not knowing what old age would be. This reminds me of me.
I thought this song came out in the early 80s but it was the 70s no music today can even begin to compare to the music of yesterday's. This song brings back the good memories. I once known. Wish the world could be like that again.
Sooo grateful to be alive when this came out originally.
I was 10 years old when this song came out. I remember walking through my parents' living room and seeing him perform it on stage on the TV. I fell in love with it immediately, and I've replayed it thousands of times since. The nostalgia it carries with it will never fail to bring me peace. RIP Dave.
This type of stuff was my father's music he played against mechanic garage since I was a boy..... I'm not a boy anymore and it's my music now
This song woke me up out of a dead sleep back in the day! I was in love with a young artist and we were not together the night I first heard this song. Well we’ve reunited and the love is as strong as it was back in the day. Thank you Mr. Loggins for this beautiful song that has made my heart sing throughout the years.
Sweet. 💞
RIP. you will be greatly missed
This song brings back so many memories of 70s...
RIP from Boston Dave! Godspeed.
Loved this song so much as a kid. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world while you were here. 🙏
This is such a beautiful song. 🎵 “I’m the number fan of the man from Tennessee”🎵 RIP Dave Loggins!! 🙏🏾❤️
Great voice. RIP Dave Loggins.😢
I LOVE THIS SONG. SO BEAUTIFUL ..CLEAN. AND TOUCHING😢
How did the years race by so quickly? This song remains one of the very best!
😮 I love this song why couldn’t my x grow up. 😢
I absolutely love this song. If you dont, check your soul!
