Wow, everyone's a critic! If you know so much, why are you watching this video? I thought this was the absolute BEST video on how to carve out of all the videos I have watched. It's amazing that no matter how perfect something is, there are always people that want to criticize.
Thanks for expertly explaining how to carve a turkey. I know I'm a bit out of season but I had an extra turkey from Thanksgiving and I cooked it today. My turkey always tastes great but my presentation was not very appealing. After watching this video, I can confidently state that for the first time in my turkey-cooking career (over 35 years), this was the first time it looked as good plated as it tasted. I always blamed being left-handed as the reason I was unable to follow others' instructions. I think the best advice I can give anyone is to take your time! Cook the bird well enough in advance to let it rest so you can carve it without being pressured by your guests to get it on the table. Even if it cools a bit, you can always warm it up or use hot gravy. I am fortunate enough to have warming lights in my stove hood so this wasn't an issue. Thanks again!
Thomas is articulate, very easy to follow, and he really knows what he's doing. I finally learned how to carve a turkey correctly, and it's not hard at all, thanks to Thomas!!
I would like to say that was a amazing presentation, from the technique to plating the dish. This video giving confidence to this year's thanksgiving for our family as well to others. Thank you
I never carved a turkey before this. It was a little rough because my knives weren't sharp but other than that I absolutely rocked it. This guy is a great teacher.
I used this guy’s instruction last year at Thanksgiving and it was the first time in 30 years that my turkey looked presentable. Back this year for a refresher. Will keep using his method. Hardest part is still keeping skin intact. You need a VERY sharp knife!
I watched several videos on how to carve a turkey and by far this was THE BEST. He explained and showed it with great detail. Thank you so much. My turkey carving is going to be well presented!
Excellent presentation, simple, direct, nicely paced. My husband, who passed, was the turkey carver. For me, this was a helpful instructional as I take on the challenge.
I have been plating my turkey this way ever since this video came out (including the fresh sage) and I always get comments... I think I made my grandmother jealous!
I've been relying on this carving technique for years now and every time I watch this video I get excited! A fantastic tutorial to how to carve a turkey while maximizing the meat and making a beautiful presentation!
When I was growing up, my father and every other "carver" at Thanksgiving would slice the turkey directly off the bird. I never realized that by doing it that way the meat lost some moisture and the slices were unnecessarily "stringy". When I became the Thanksgiving "carver", I started to use the method of taking the breast meat off first and slicing it this way and not only did I get better slices, the turkey was not dried out and there seemed to be more slices, even though the slices were a little thicker. The slicing of the thigh meat was also something I never saw growing up. It was always just put on the platter whole. Since I' the only one in my household who likes the dark meat, I not only slice up the thighs, I also slice the meat off the drumsticks. I prefer this method so much more than the "traditional" carving at the table kind.Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Best results! I followed these tips last Thanksgiving, and my platter was beautiful! It really took the stress out of carving for me. Came back to this video for a refresher for this year. Can’t wait!
Thanks! I used your video several years ago and everyone thought I was a pro. In fact it worked so well I am now asked to carve every year. It's a honor, and a pain in the arse. Now I have to re-watch it every year!!
I've been surfing for turkey carving videos amd I must say this one Is my favorite, the presentation is very appealing, and he kept on as much meat as possible, which was a problem with others they tended to leave a lot of meat on the carcus. Thanks for the vid🦃🍗
Day Peri I’ve been using this method for years and people are always impressed. I’m the official turkey carver for several thanksgivings I have to attend. Enjoy!
I may be on turkey carving duty this year due to my dad's bad arm, so I've been looking at videos. This one looks fantastic, seems so easy! (Plus, the carver is cute, so...) Thanks for posting!
This is the basically the same way I did it last year but this video is even more helpful than the one I was looking for. It looks a LOT better when carved this way than the way I butchered past turkeys.
I used this guide for carving my turkey this year (usually my dad does it), and it was so easy to follow. My presentation came out so beautifully. Thank you!
This is the best video so far on UA-cam for how to carve a turnkey, easy steps to take and works perfectly fine I did it last year and all my guests loved the way I have carved and served it, I'm going to do it again today,Thank you so much
Your presentation has just made my Thanksgiving potluck offering a more delectable consideration and certainly a much more stress less endeavor. Thank you!
The important thing he did, but didn't explain was that he cut the breast across/against the grain (the direction the muscle fibers run). You want to always know the direction of the grain when carving meat
I have viewed many presentations on UA-cam and this is by far is the best. You have been a tremendous help. Thanks and I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.
This is how I've always carved my turkey. However, I have never removed the wishbone before cutting away the breast meat. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the tip!
Thomas- Great tutorial. IMO- often one of the the biggest details of a holiday dinner we should pay attention to... Presentation! I will carry this lesson into every holiday dinner from here on. Well done!
hey just an idea for future video. can you compare the results baking using creaming method vs reverse creaming (mixing dry ingredients with butter until they become sandy, and then add wet ingredient). i'm curious about reverse creaming but not sure if it's a good method
Thanks for sharing. I had never seen the technique to remove the wishbone first, great tip! And your presentation looked great to. Well worth watching, even for old turkey carvers like me. 😆
Thank you. Pray I can pull this off. Was thinking we only do half the turkey at a time. Then after dinner I have to go through the butchered bird and debone to get at the meat and it is just pieces. I'm thing to try this with some parsley, It's my favorite herb, cranberries and a smudge of rosemary and thyme. Kudos for the lesson.

This is my definitive guide. It's my tradition to rewatch each year. Beautifully done!
Brilliant! I watch this every year. Happy Thanksgiving!

Excellent presentation on the platter. The technique and style are spot on but the end result is over the top.
First time carving a turkey, and this guy was a huge help! Probably would have lost a finger without him
We appreciate your videos. We have this collection in a book but the video is dope. My sis and I will work on our carvings yearly.
This is the basically the same way I did it last year but this video is even more helpful than the one I was looking for. It looks a LOT better when carved this way than the way I butchered past turkeys.
Thanks Thomas, you are the best!! I am going to watch this video again when I am ready to carve the turkey this year!
I used this guide for carving my turkey this year (usually my dad does it), and it was so easy to follow. My presentation came out so beautifully. Thank you!
I have watched a dozen videos, but this one is definitely the best!
Thank you, Thomas! You carved the bird beautifully!
I absolutely love Kitchen Conundrums!

I'm thoroughly impressed.
Love the presentation at the end, great skills!
I really enjoyed this video and I too will be using this method, my mangled turkey cutting days are over. Very nice thank you
I have been using this method for 5 or 6 years, wont ever mangle another turkey. spend some money, if you can for a real nice knife and keep it sharp
The important thing he did, but didn't explain was that he cut the breast across/against the grain (the direction the muscle fibers run). You want to always know the direction of the grain when carving meat
Thank you! I hope it's as easy as you made it look!
I also watch this video every year ... a half hour before I carve. It's a lifesaver.
Simple, straightforward techniques. Thanks, Thomas!
The best video on separating the pieces - beautifully done, thank you!

This is the best explanation by far. I would just wear gloves. Thanks for a very informative piece.
Most awesome explanation on youtube. Thank you!
I'm not dirtying up any more dishes than I've already done cooking this thing. 1 knife to rule them all!
Thank-you! Great clear instructions and great camera angles!
This is how I've always carved my turkey. However, I have never removed the wishbone before cutting away the breast meat. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the tip!
After doing this for many years, I never thought about the wishbone. Great idea.

Beautifully done , thanks for tutorial , never thought of removing the wishbone , will do that this year:)
Me too, I learned something today, that wishbone always tripped me
i tend to eat more turkey when i'm carving it, than when it's at the table
Same thing happens when decorating a cake. End up eating half the icing
Correct lol
It happens when I cook bacon
Hahahahah I'm half way full between the veggie prep and carving the turkey lol
Thank you! ❤
Got family coming round later today. Turkey's in the oven coming along nicely. Just watched your video on how to carve and present it. Excellent!

smoking a turkey this year. Will carve it up really nice using these techniques
Very helpful. The separation of some parts was not as easy as shown, but it was better than my normal carving.
