Wow another CCCP troll....the difference is that the west was already very developed, still is, its hard to keep a steady rate of economic progress when you are an already highly developed state. Many Chinese at the time didn't even having running water or power;some still don't. So its easy to say "you have it better" than the previous generation. Yes the west has its problems such as high housing cost and lack of higher paying jobs however this is universal even amongst developing countries.
We are not animals or pets that are happy enough with nicer homes and toys and better food. Fundamental things like not being able to decide how many children to have or to have a religion whose tenets must be approved by the state, not being able to express your opposition to communism without being afraid of an arbitrary National Security Law, are so horrible that we in the West are afraid that they will come to where we and our children live.

He can say what he wants, it is his free speech to use as he wishes, but he's talking utter shite. Democracy is about state power, but it could also be said that some aspect of democracy is civil liberty. I'm not saying you cannot have democracy without the ability to own property and choose with whom you work, but they definitely correlate.
The average Chinese are not ignorant of the problems in their society. It is ignorant of you to assume outsiders like you can provide a better solution. Democracy is not the goal of governance, it's only a mean, the goal is to create better life for its citizens. On that front, China has done a remarkable job for 30 years since Tiananmen square.
thejeffinvade but the problem is that the party’s legitimacy is based on if they can keep growing the economy. If the economy falls. They basically lost all their legitimacy. The CCCP cannot maintain control forever despite how much they love it. Democracy is the greatest form of governance period.full stop. @@harlequin2614 Democracy doesn't mean your tax dollars will be spend efficiently and effectively. I have lived in Toronto for the past 14 years, it took the city 10 years to add one subway extension. When I went to Beijing this past winter, they are building 20 new subway lines simultaneously and all of them are expected to be finished by 2022. That's on top of 600km existing network. The public consultation period for adding one runway to London Heathrow is 5 years, the Chinese took 4 years to build an brand new airport for Beijing, the world’s largest single-terminal airport. Tax dollars should be spend on the actual subway construction, not on endless studies on how to build one, don't you agree? The current Chinese system is simply better at building infrastructure than any democracies. Ultimately the best government is the one that delivers prosperity, not the one that delivers gender neutral washrooms.
@@harlequin2614 I am saying democracy doesn't necessarily means good governance, just look at Brazil or Iraq. Democracy also leads to populism which gives us Hilter, Brexit and Trump. Revolution certainly doesn't bring good governance, nor human rights, only chaos, just look at Libya or Syria or even the French revolution. 30 years on, is today's Russian society more equal 30 years after the collapse of communism? Funny they kept showing the tankman who was clearly out shopping. He was clearly not massacre Maylai massacre in Vietnam was real massacre.while tankman was enjoying his shopping beyond a doubt.
The "Tank Man" was used as evidence for the "massacre", but on June 4 exactly, the only thing that happened on the square is that the students held their hands together, sing "the Internationale", and departed one by one. The ones who wanted to stay were forcefully carried away. Almost, just almost no casualties were there.
Actually, before June 4, even a Taiwanese student claimed that he never saw bodies in the Tiananmen Square. A CBS reporter who was outside the square, also claimed though there were sounds of gunfire, he (or she) see no one falling down.
A few weeks ago I had a heart wrenching conversation with a woman in Beijing. She told me her husband drove an ambulance for Xiehe ( Peking Union Medical College Hospital) during the Tiananmen protests. This was apparently a hospital built by the USA after WW2 in Beijing to help relieve the suffering of the Chinese people in Beijing by offering medical assistance. She went on to tell me that her husband drove a rudimentary ambulance truck for the hospital. On the night in question, June 4th, he was ordered to Tiananmen as there was a report of many injured students. He arrived there and immediately his van was filled with the injured. He was very scared for his life! There were injured everywhere. He said that he spoke to students who told him that when they saw tanks running over people that they took rifles from soldiers and started shooting at the tanks. In retaliation, the People’s Army returned aggression ten fold! The PLA was responsible for the deaths of anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 civilians from Beijing! Their numbers can never be confirmed because their bodies were cremated on site and hosed into the sewer systems around Tiananmen and never received a proper burial! These things are facts that are never admitted to by a government that firmly believes in the “Lie and Deny” philosophy they have developed over 5000 years. Wake up China! The world knows what happened. There were reporters from all over the world in Beijing covering an event going on at the time. They stumbled upon this as their hotels were around Tiananmen! Why are you denying the facts? 400 people (per government reports) were accidentally killed! Absolutely false! The woman I spoke to tells me her husband ( the ambulance driver) , was held in a room for 3 weeks and was cautioned not to say anything about his experience on that day! When she started sobbing during the conversation with me, I was made aware instantly that there was great fear involved in discussing what happened to them all these years after this tragic event! The students were there under the assumption there was a possibility of changing the political system in China for something other than the repressive government that they had. Their appearance there was jovial and they only wanted their opinions to be heard ! Their peaceful celebration of the possibility of a new era and a new way of life were quickly squashed by an old regime based upon greed of the privileged few who followed the philosophy of all their ancient leaders to suppress the masses!

Many of the protesters in had their visa rdy and also their study place abroad, after some student witnesses reports. Some of them left the country early. The press lied about the place (not TAM) , time and numbers of deaths, many sources were most likely made up, for example the 2600 deaths given by red cross numbers, because they didn't gave any numbers (nyt). Some reporters said they heard gunfire and they concluded soldiers must have shot ppl, student witnesses and soldiers say shots were fired into the air, during a mass panic many were wounded.
@@harlequin2614 "Already very developed". Yep, and now it's going backwards, see western Europe.
2:35 Watch this guy inject his own political belief into the idea of democracy by conflating his economic system with the entire principle of democracy.
Based on the fact that inflate their economic growth, they are on borrowed time. If they stagnate or have a massive recession. The CCP is finished.
The CCCP cannot maintain control forever despite how much they love it. Democracy is the greatest form of governance period.full stop. Democracy is a political system for a well educated and economically prosperous country allowing its citizens to have a more direct say of who is allowed to control their futures. Are you saying Chinese are to stupid to be allowed to help determine their governance?
Ultimately the success or failure of a political system isn't based on how democratic it is, but based on how efficient and effective is it at taxing and spending tax dollars, at how good is it at creating prosperity.
Revolution certainly doesn't bring good governance, nor human rights, only chaos, just look at Libya or Syria or even the French revolution. 30 years on, is today's Russian society more equal 30 years after the collapse of communism? Is average Ukrainians better off today than the Chinese since they got their vote? My point is while Tiananmen massacre is a crime against humanity, but average Chinese citizens are certainly better of after the crackdown if not because of it.
@thejeffinvade "China has done a remarkable job for 30 years" ...not for those they have killed. not for those they are killing. not for those they have imprisoned. not for those they have poisoned. not for those they will be killing tomorrow.
Funny they kept showing the tankman who was clearly out shopping. He was clearly not massacre
Maylai massacre in Vietnam was real massacre.while tankman was enjoying his shopping beyond a doubt.
Grey Eminence Can’t you read? They took up rifles AFTER they saw students being run over by tanks! AFTER!.....

After witness testimony one was wounded by bullet because it bounced back from somewhere. And Noone died from Tanks. Tankman got taken away by bystanders after a conversation with the Tank driver.
