  • How to cook filet mignon on the stove top. When you order filet mignon at restaurants, it's very expensive. A lot of people think Chef's at restaurants have a secret formula to cooking a great filet. Actually it's easy to duplicate their method and delicious too. You may never order a filet mignon at a restaurant again once you learn to cook them at home beginning on the stove top and finishing in the oven. My method is very simple and quite fast. I cook filet mignon in an iron skillet and then I finish cooking it in the oven. By using a meat thermometer I know when the steak is cooked exactly the way I like it. My filet mignon recipe is simple. Salt & pepper & butter That's basically it. I enjoy the natural meat flavors without extra spices. In this video I tell you how long to cook filet mignon. The way I cook it, is some of the best filet mignon I've ever had.

I had two small fillets in my freezer that I had forgotten about so decided to fix them for my husband today. I’d never made them at home before so tried this. I did overcook a bit but he said they still seemed very tender ❤️

You don't have to keep turning them. And keep the oven door closed.
Try to find the sweet spot with the time so you know when to take it out
You can also melt the butter on the cast iron skillet and use a spoon to pour the melted butter over it.
Use some rosemary to garnish it.

I followed these cooking instructions last night. First time I’ve ever cooked steak. And let me tell y’all it was just as good as a Texas Roadhouse or longhorn steak. You could cut it with a fork. No knife needed!!! Best way to do if at home and I used a regular frying pan!

You don't need to kill the steaks; they are already dead. 126 degrees max before resting delivers a very tender juicy steak.

Oh no. So many things wrong, brother. Firstly, don't forget to sear the sides. Secondly, baste the steak after searing with butter, garlic cloves and thyme. Lastly, after you take it back outta the oven, baste the steak again for the remaining 3-5 min. Let rest with the juices that were just cooked into it. Oh and one more thing, ALWAYS cut the meat against the grain.
