Thanks for th e help but I got confused when you were talking g about ground wires? How are all the wire ground wires? Solder 2 ground wires to the circuit board? and put the thru the 2 drilled holes In the metal thingy? Twist them together and attach them to the ground? Ok, got that I suppose but then there is the other 2 wires (other than the copper middle wire. Dat's th ground)
I got sup ed confused after that part when th other 2 wires that are also ground wires? Then u never really explained why they all seemed to attack to the same place? I clearly don't have qualifications that u do and please do t take me not understanding as me trying to be rude or slight you're trying to help you by doing this video. I assure you I'm not I say this all respectfully I just truly don't understand but I very much appreciate you attempting the video thank you very much
I was thinking of a different idea. What about using dish as a reflector? Sheath it with aluminum or copper. Then place a factal antenal at the focal point of the dish parabola.
You have the right idea. But there is no need to coat the dish. It is aluminum and already designed to reflect any RF. Just make up a good, rather small directional UHF antenna and place the front end aimed at the focal, which is opposite the direction of towers you are trying to receive. Then point the dish DOWN, level with the ground and in the direction of the towers.
Sat dish uses a "horn" microwave diode receiver and needs a pulse voltage to tune the signal from the Satelitte. This use in the video is bouncing signal off the dish into a wire for reception. At wavelength for UHF television, the dish would need to be 20+ feet in diameter. All this effort could've been used in a 10 3/4 inch folded half wave dipole. There's free online calculators to figure a loop dipole length. One loop without elements to amplify signal gets me 70 to 90 mile reception here in Florida. Height is might, the higher up the better. The dish makes a fair reflector. It's just like using two 1/4 wave length wire or metal tubing. Still have to adjust the distance from the antenna feed point. It's all good!
The Dish doesn't pick up ANY channels. It's your home made antenna that picks the channels up. Throw the Dish away and just use your home made antenna. You'll find that you get just as many channels. Just saying...
When I came here I thought you was going to show me how to convert circler polarity to liner polarity on lnb so I could use for free to air dish for free satellite channels on lower ku frequencys, but you probably don't have a clue what I'm talking about.
To get free TV all you need is wire. You also need to boost the signal that is coming in. You cal do that by a signal booster. You can buy one for like $10 bucks. However if you really do not want to spend money you could just use a DTV UHF Antenna TV Amplifier that you can make from any parts of electric junk you find on the side of the road. You can build one as I said it is really easy. The other idea is to use a radio to boost the signal. You can also just use a paper clip. Yet to boost the signal you should use a electromagnetic or magnetic coil. Either would work if you are really tight on funds. a electromagnetic is basically a step up transformer. Yet a magnetic coil only uses a magnet and wire looped around that magnet. Good luck.
You’re not getting tv from the dish, you’re getting it from the antenna... have a “coat hanger” antenna myself and get 50 channels locally just from that.
Just an idea, you might want to tell people what you're using in your videos... you say everyone has one of "these" laying around in to save them but you never say what "these" are. Well at least you never said what it was within the first 2 minutes 30 seconds so I quit watching video. Good luck
Satalites do not work for a antenna...use two energy drink cans with a center cable ran through both connected to your coax and place it outside at roof level...move it to find best spot...your welcome...(i have 15 channels on the first edition hd box)
I do the same when at my house in Florida most of the time I rent it do to not too many jobs their lots of jobs near my mobile home I know ill all ways have work,lt allows me to soon to buy my 2nd house in Florida
I'm high on Yahshua, anyway, hidden knowledge is all around us waiting to be discovered, everyone has these lying around why not use them for tv antennas, I saw it I took it apart to see whats inside and I saw an antenna figured out how to connect this up, easy if I was high id be like you a watcher with no videos
Nope it's a real antenna that's how the dish gets local channels no one knew this, but I'm working on the box I figured something out and have to test it
How can this be real if it was how can I satellite cake can work if with your PC or Nothing what if what if nothing nothing happens to it but more than things that know cannot get your your signal right so do I what do what do you do if you lost your signal for nothing more than me so do I hahaha LOL
makes sense to a lot of people, its junk lying around from dish leftovers, pay 100 bucks a month to sit in front of a tv and not enjoy it cause you know your getting a bill next month and getting ripped off to watch tv to be brainwashed with green screen and blue screen, look hears the sensing part they get something out of it a tv antenna ,it gets some off the tv or pc and building some antenna for all the money they paid for dish they get a DIY project that saves them 1200 a year.
If you really had 40 years experience in electronics you would cherish the bits from the satellite LNBs. Black-magic microwave circuitry doesn't come cheap, and you, the supposed electronics expert, tore it up and used it to amplify OTA TV. Shame on you

All good
The ground wires are the wires that are running across the ground.
Confusing and left me wondering how to convert the old satellite dish to become an OTA antenna.
I was thinking of a different idea. What about using dish as a reflector?
Sheath it with aluminum or copper. Then place a factal antenal at the focal point of the dish parabola.
I think the paint has a special coating that might work

You can point the dish towards a signal and angle it towards the antenna to pick up the signal
The comments made the video worth it. Thanks guys.
Lets see you do better cause I see zero videos on your channel
I have a directv slimline dish. How do i convert that to an OTA?
You don't. Just make or buy an antenna like "Danny S Hodges" channel, or his "Southern Ideas" channel.

That was more informative than the video was. 👍
Can you use this method to be able to watch all of Dish Network TV channels for free?
The Dish doesn't pick up ANY channels. It's your home made antenna that picks the channels up. Throw the Dish away and just use your home made antenna. You'll find that you get just as many channels. Just saying...
please don't throw dishes away, they are speshil and very hard to make
