The Latin and South American influence in Miami is massive, so you undoubtedly have an enormous amount of people who already love the game and Messi. They just happened to immigrate to the US. As a US born fan of the game, I love to see more people falling in love with the beautiful game. Our country is a melting pot of cultures, many of which love football and I feel like that isnt realized or appreciated in reference to American fans. I grew up with a ball at my feet because of my grandfather before I played anything else and that is the same story for many of the last 2 or 3 generations of people in the US. I appreciate the game and culture surrounding it, grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s watching United, Arsenal, and Madrid since they garnered the most global coverage. I love that the game is becoming more accessible here and hope it pulls more kids in like it did me.

I was fortunate enough, with 70,000 other fans in Houston, Texas, to watch Messi and Barcelona play against Club America. I was on the end about 30 rows up and after halftime, Messi, Ronaldinho, and Eto'o all started warming up in front of me. It was amazing. Mind you, this wasnt Messi of 2023, it was young Messi of 2006 who was just 19. You're a very lucky guy to be so close to one of the greatest ever.
