I'm from western Oklahoma. A good friend of mine worked at Robert's Grill back in the 70's when he was in high school in El Reno, and if you know anything about the history of the " fried onion hamburger " you've probably eaten there. He told me how its really done and tricks. NO MAYO. MUSTARD & PICKLES ONLY! Thanks
OH man! Dad used to make these a lot. We never added any condiments cuz you really didn't need to. We make them at 4oz size with salt n pepper. So good and fast on the flat top.
Here in Australia i just cooked some on the Blackstone. The wife and i liked them with mayonaise for something different. My twelve year old son not so much.
I tried Dukes mayonnaise after hearing you rave about it Matt. Most of the jar went away. I'm back to Best Foods/Hellman's, but I'm glad I tried Dukes.
Hi. Did you ever go to J&W Grill in Chickasha ? I was born there, and when I was 5 or 6, my Dad would take us there and get 5 for $1. Can't get em for that now.....
Hey Matt, Looks fantastic, I will be definitely be giving these a try. I do smashburgers with onions that I get about 50% caramelized So they still have texture but a lot of sweetness, Then top the patty on the bun with the usual produce and they are amazing! I would like to see a side by side comparison to see how this simple ingredient version would compare….. I’m sure, both delicious….maybe I will have to do that…hahahaha Griddle on Hussey!

Very nice burger…. Don’t know what cheese you used (all I saw was “orange”… so, American or cheddar?); but, any objections that the burger becomes an “undocumented burger” 🤪 to Oklahoma if Swiss cheese was used instead? Or NO cheese if desired?

This vid just appeared on my feed I'm Australian, that looks so good. I don't do mayo, but with a sweet onion relish as the condiment, total banger.
Welcome to our Channel! Thanks for watching!
I made these for the 4th of July. They turned out really good.
That just brought a tear of joy to my eye, WOW!!! Looks awesome!
Thank you for watching! I grab the tissue.
Matt, from Duncan, Oklahoma, I can smell those onions from here. I prefer mustard instead of mayonnaise, but to each his own. Yummy 😋
Feel free to make it however you like. Thanks for watching!

Oh, it's American cheese.
@@thehungryhussey thank you…
Is Swiss “ok”? Or, it’s not the OKLAHOMA burger anymore?
American is the standard but you can use whatever you like. As long as it melts quickly
@@Henk_H , I believe to use what you want. That’s the cool thing g about cooking is to make it yours. I don’t see no foul there.
@@bvoyles74 thank you…. If I get REAL “American” cheese, I’ll give the try… I usually don’t eat “American” cheese-white OR yellow/orange…
Mayonnaise?
These are called Oklahoma onion burgers not Oklahoma smash burgers. You should know that.
Dang it Matt! Always good groceries! Let’s get smashing🤣🤣🤣🤣
