      @@creator-boothPacing is one of the most important factors with long videos. Whenever I make videos that are longer than 30 minutes, I try to think about how I can compile multiple shorter videos together into a coherent concept. Once I'm done with the series I'm working on, I'm gonna make a video that's a marathon of the series and I will package it as Season 1 of the series.

    • @davekellino
      @davekellino 2 місяці тому +2

      @@BackToTheBoomBap my favourite movies are what you might call 'slow paced'. Pauline a la Plage (Eric Rohmer), Wrong Move (Wim Wenders) and The Double Life of Vernoique (Krzysztof Kieslowski). I'm currently writing a 90 minute movie in a similar vein. If I'm going to watch something for 90 minutes I'm going to need something out of it that will give me comfort or information, preferably both. If I click on a long video it only has a few seconds at the beginning to hook me in or its an instant click away...

    I personally love long videos... but I don't technically watch them. I listen... while doing the dishes, while driving to/from work, while eating lunch, while gardening or taking care of my chickens, while cleaning the house... etc. long videos and audiobooks are my go to as I'm doing tasks that make me physically busy, but do not take as much brain power.

      Yeah 100%
      Short videos are annoying because you need to keep finishing new videos every few minutes (unless it’s very specific like a tutorial)

    UA-cam isn't "pushing long videos" and lots of people have done videos about this misconception. With cable dying and more people watching UA-cam than ever, some of society's old watch habits have been transferring over, meaning more and more people are falling asleep at night watching UA-cam with autoplay on, and the algo has been noticing the pattern and giving those users longer stuff to "watch" in those hours because that's what it thinks they want.

    • @tracy419

      There are several long videos that I choose specifically for that purpose. It's to cover up noises that wake me up.
      I used to listen to books, but I'd wake up at random times and get caught up in the story, which defeated the purpose 😂
      The ones I've been listening to just sorta repeat phrases randomly so there's nothing to get caught up in.

I've been really tempted to put it all together as one long video. But I've been scared that if I did, YT wouldn't like that as it might duplicate content. He is forgetting why those long videos are successful, is the content, the end. Same for short and medium, long ones are being pushed by youtube because the ads and people falling sleep with them

    I don't think the length was what made them appealing. It's the content . Many of those content makers probably got views from other platforms . I personally watched four of your examples after seeing them on IG

    I’m not sure if this would work for nano (less than 1,000 subscribers channel) I feel it takes some “authority” to blow up with a so-long video.

      Many channels have blown up with only one video doing this. You don't need to be a big channel for this.

    You say that long form videos va help, and they do especially for historical videos. But doesn’t it also depend on genre and length? Doesn’t it also depend on the topic? One youtuber told me that you should upload at a regular consistent timing so the AI recognises you. If you upload a 10 minute video the first day and then a 1 hour the next, UA-cam won’t push it. It either has to be consistent or it isn’t. What do you think of this?
