Could you make a video about all the cars you own and what cars you owned in the past? Why did you buy it? What do you like and not like about your car? And would you recommend it?
@Dee Jay 'Proper' car guys being people who like to see diesels mashing out 10 MPG while throwing smoke out the back? From an actual engineering point of view what Tesla has done has massively improved the car industry and the future of battery technology. If people stopped resenting electric and started embracing everything that a modern electric vehicle is capable of - insane acceleration, electromagnetic braking, cheaper running costs to name but a few - we'd actually progress a lot more than we are now. Being 'taken seriously' has nothing to do with whats under the bonnet, its how effective the engineering behind it is - you can have a 5L V8 which produces nothing but smoke - America has proven that point well, but actually making a decent amount of power comes from intuitive Engineering as much as it does displacement. Having a Tesla as one's profile pic makes them no less serious of a car guy. It makes them actually open to new ideas and, ultimately, the future of the car industry.
That would be interesting but I vote to have them as guests for a show I mean without Hammond may and Clarkson grand tour wouldn't be the same but the 6 of them causing mayhem hell yeah that would be epic
I used to work at a Vauxhall dealership in Aylesbury, it was a busy week and we had sold a lot of cars, my mate Dan had the weekend off and so the cars he had sold had to be prepped for handover for Monday morning, so at the end of play Friday he was keen to get down the pub. As with all car dealerships one of the last things to do is to run round the pitch shutting all the car boot doors, for those of you that don't know it's a stupid thing that all cars on car sales sites that are for sale have their boot open and for weekends or special occasions some balloons are attached to the wipers ones that are sold you keep locked. So Dan and I run round the dealership shutting the boots at warp speed and our mates Dave and Stav lock them. A busy weekend ensues for me and the rest of the crew and Dan has a blinder of a weekend on the lash, Monday morning Dan goes to move the cars he sold on Friday round to the valet bay to get them cleaned and ready for handover to the lucky new owners, all of a sudden a loud scream is heard across the pitch, we all rush over to find Dan looking very, very, very upset, " a cat" he says "a fucking cat" we look into the car and immediately regret it, the stench of cat piss and poo is overwhelming, it turns out during our record breaking speed run we had failed to notice a local cat that had fallen asleep in the Zafira 1.8 Sxi that Dan had sold on Friday and the feral feline had been trapped in all weekend. As any cat owner will tell you, litter box cleaning is not fun, it's one of the most disgusting things you can experience, now this car was being collected in two hours by a lovely lady who had three kids, blind panic ensued, first port of call, the valeters, "no" said Simi our Ghanaian Valeter (this is an edited version he told us to go away with more embellishment) so in a blind panic with no idea we scooped out the cat shit with blue roll, went to Halfords and bought as much pine fresh car freshener liquid as we could carry, we POURED that stuff into every bit of fabric we could get to, seats, door cards, carpets, headliner I mean everywhere even down the vents. The lady came and collected her Zafira and we told her that we had only just finished cleaning the car, that the scent might be a bit strong, so she should drive home with the windows down. An old saying in car sales is that you should wave goodbye till you can't see the tail lights, we didn't, we waited till she got out of the car park and ran to our cars and drove to the pub. We never heard from that lady again, we can either assume that our pine fresh mask of freshness hid the smell forever or alternatively she died from the toxic fume combination of pine and cat piss ammonia on the way home, either way i'm never going to buy a 2006 green Zafira Sxi just in-case, I would recommend you do the same...
Jacks right about the hazard perception. I passed mine rhythmically.. only you can get marked down for doing it Rhythmically . So I done it every 3 seconds 4 seconds 3 seconds etc lol
Also I would never want to compare you guys to the grand tour trio.... but the chemistry and and the way the convocation flows between the 3 of you feels effortless and truly unforced! Keep this up guys!!
This is tremendously entertaining. Don't get discouraged if the viewcount doesn't go up that high, not everyon enjoys podcasts. I do and this is fantastic. Keep it going!
I reversed into my mums car once. She usually parks on the left hand side of the driveway. One day for some reason she parked in the middle. I came home from work and reversed into it. To this day she still believes the damage was caused by someone in a car park with a trolley. Despite the blue paintwork now on her car and scratched bumper on mine 🤷♂️
I work for a car dealership, on my second day we were moving a car to trade and it caught fire on the motorway. It was an interesting start to the job haha.
I’d like to share my first and thankfully only failed driving test story: I had to merge onto a blind intersection and then decided to “roll through” - only to realize halfway through I was on ramming course with the guy on the other side. Thankfully he reacted quickly, no damage done. Ego hurt but happy there was no damage done, I got into the passenger seat of my driving instructor. He then decided to make up for lost time by doing over over double the speed limit towards his next student. Needless to say - I had opinions regarding who should’ve had a license. Love the show, carry on! Greetings from The Netherlands
I can't wait for next week's episode. Mike Brewer is great and as you guys said, solid bloke for giving you that clip for that previous video and being totally cool with it haha. Keep up the good work boys.
Passed theory and practical first time. Lucked out on both as it was the first year for the virtual hazard perception, which is much easier. The practical was originally at rush hour but the examiner was sick and rescheduled the next day better time and a good examiner. Also got an easy reverse behind the road manoeuvre.
As an owner of a 2014 seat leon FR (1.4 Liters Turbocharged 89kw engine, shifter), I have to say... this thing is underrated alot. She's beasty on the bottom end although lacking on the top end. As the previous owner installed adjustable coilovers, foiled the roof, spray painted bits graphite, smacked a body kit on it and put carbon fibre foil on the middle console... I have to say... this car is amazing and yes... you don't see many around here either... especially NONE looking like mine. Not even the Cupra ones ;3
Best and funniest Podcast ever. You guys have a brilliant chemistry and comic timing! Can't think who you remind me of? 😊 Look forward to the next one.
Top tip for the hazard perception test - when you see a hazard, click. Then wait roughly one second and click again. This is because the start of the time-window for the hazard appearing is incredibly inconsistent, and it's very easy most of the time to spot the hazard before the exam writers deem it to be "developing" despite it being really obvious what's about to happen.
Got to admit. Enjoy all your videos, although for the pod cast perhaps have a screen under the table so you can put photos up ect to extend your story telling and also hide that extension lead better 😂 other than that really good to see you guys progressing and I look forward to the future of the channel!
Ultimate answer to a shared car being exciting and nice for both is easily a decently hot hatch. My little Alfa 147 is really good fun to drive, but its equally not threatening to anyone in terms of driving. Any decently sorted hatchback is great for anyone
In the hazard perception apparently if you click too quickly it won't be in the "window" for the hazard to be recognised, my instructor told me to wait a second after seeing a possible hazard then click, I was a very nervous driver but passed first time with one minor and now I hate other road users who can't drive
A mate of mine failed his practical test 7 times. Hes since given up on trying to driving all together, and now moved abroad, presumably out of embarrassment.
I have also had the exact same failure on the exact same corner of a Corsa C. Fortunately, it was very late at night, at about 20mph, with no one around. Embarrassing but fixed within 15 minutes of arriving with a used drum 😂 I had no warning, no noise, and no idea why I was suddenly sitting 5 inches lower with no brakes 😂
Actually.... You guys inspired me to make a podcast inspiration and it's concept. For the next episode, I suggest the story car you've grown with, and it's value in this era, what's is like to drive. Good work guys
I never failed any of my tests, but I had a friend in school who failed his moped (max 50cc, max 45km/h in where I live) theory test 14 times. It was just before the test became more expensive, so he ended up paying near the same amount I did for my license even with the 10x cheaper version, well, if you get it right the first time.
Hazard perception tricks: A) Click once every now and again (like 5 seconds) just in case something small you see is a hazard. B) Once you can see a hazard, immediately start clicking 3 times, with about 0.5-0.8 secs between clicks. One for trying to be early and get max points, the second if you were too early the first time and one as a backup. You get 10 clicks per very short video, so keep count, keep calm and you’ll be fine. The hazards are mostly pretty obvious too. Edit: How points are awarded depends on your reaction time to the hazard taking place. So immediately spotting a hazard should get you 5 points, but the system is flawed so you can click too early. Slower reaction times get you 4-0 points depending on how bad you were.
I had the same issue, changed 2 rear wheel bearings on my 1989 ford escort and both rear stub axles melted and broke while doing 60 on an A road due to overtightening. A mistake you only make once.
As an apprentice in the 90s at a Peugeot garage. One of the lads PDId a 205 GTi 1.9 took it for fuel and a test drive. Ragged the nuts of it and in doing so twatted a kerb. Smashing an alloy. He just swapped it for the spare!
