Kidding aside, nice job Ethan! It only gets better dont worry! The more you work on cars, the more you naturally learn ways to do things quicker and easier.
hey guys chris fix here
😂👍 Yeah, I don't think you have much to fear 😂
This is peak entertainment. I would love to see Ethan change just about everything you can, on a car. I'm in tears here haha.

Funniest part of this video 😂
Hats off to Ethan. Most non-petrol-heads wouldn't even attempt this. Now he has the power to give less money to garages and dealerships. The price of having the p**s taken out of him by his 'mates' is well worth it.
To be fair he had more confidence than most non car guys would because he had all the tools needed and back up mechanic mates in Alex & Jack in the event he got stuck or did something wrong. But yeah, it's nice to see that he was willing to give it a go.
I’m a non petrol head, couldn’t point out the turbo on my car to be honest. But watching these videos with Ethan doing stuff gave me the confidence to change over my rear bumper after my parking sensors failed and I reversed into something, not sure I have the confidence to change anything mechanically yet, at least not on my 2016 f21. But I’ll give changing the brake pads a go just not the discs. Baby steps lol
John Peterson honestly if you are doing your pads and you also need to do the rotors, pads are like 80% of the job, the rotors are the easy part of the job, just undo 2 screws, clean the new ones and fit them. As easy as that. I find more labor on the pads than in the rotors.
This looks like me teaching my nephew something new on his vehicle..... I'm usually Alex when my nephew is working on his car..... I'm just there for moral support
@@edgarmichaelperezruvalcaba7744 Well it is true it's not hard to do the rotors, however if his are still in good shape, not warped or worn down that is, there's really no reason to change them. Rotors do tend to cost a lot on some cars as well.
I love how you greased the pads but not the guide pins 😂
I was looking for this or I was gonna comment it.

FR. I was fixing a thing on my bicycle that was in a bad position, I got it positioned good, and then it slipped and I bashed my knuckle straight into an edge and it hurt quite a bit. I hate working on my bike cus it's got so much screws and shit in weird spots. Like the screw for my kickstand that keeps getting loosened up is in a really tight place that I struggle to get the Allen wrench into. Spent like 10 minutes tightening it when it should be a 30 second fix if it wasn't in such a bad position.
Stops happening when you learn how to reposition yourself so you pull to break bolts instead of pushing haha of course thats not bullet proof sometimes you just can't and you will smash your knuckles.

Alex be reasonable, we car guys lose stuff in one square foot then spend 20 minutes searching for it. 😂
Also the piston pushes in a lot easier if you take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir, you might even be able to do it with your thumbs. 😉

Should probably have kept an eye on the brake fluid reservoir when winding in all four calipers. Last time I did discs and pads on a car I forgot and ended up with alot of brake fluid in the engine bay
That's because someone added brake fluid when they shouldn't have.

Changing brake pads and discs is actually one of the easiest jobs on a car. Easy access and only a 8 bolts. It’s hard to get wrong.
I’d double check the owners manual for the correct jacking location under the car, so you don’t damage the floor pan.
The oily residue on the new brake discs are to stop them corroding while on the shelf.
I would also give the mounting brackets a clean as well, so the slots that the pads slide in are free of brake dust.
I used a thick screwdriver laid horizontally across the brake piston to push it in, or I suppose you could use the breaker bar laid across. I find it helps if you unscrew the brake reservoir cap.
