Today’s NFL fans don’t understand how much Marino changed the position. Before him you had some good passers, like Johnny Unitas and Kenny Stabler. But when Dan showed up it was like he was a Martian from another planet because his release was so much quicker than anyone else and his accuracy was ridiculous. He’d start throwing a wheel route - back then I think it was called an “out and up” - just as the receiver was making his first cut and you’d think, “That was a s-y pass!” but then when the receiver turned upfield and the ball hit him on the numbers at 40 yards you’d scratch your head. It didn’t seem possible. QBs like Mahomes are great but they’re really evolutionary because they’ve just added a few wrinkles. Dan was revolutionary and every modern-day quarterback owes Danny Boy a nod.
100% the truth. He was throwing it around the yard unlike most that had done it before, he was playing against real defenses, and still embarrassing them. I think Young was the first real athlete to play the position like they do today, some would argue Roger Staubach, but for my money Marino will always be the single greatest passer of the game, unless another amazing pocket QB comes along.

@@FuqAroundNFindOut you one of those sensitive fans huh? I don’t sleep better at night knowing that the Dolphins will be mediocre. Once they decide to pay Tua Tagovailoa if anything, I sleep worse, knowing that that’s one less team that will stop Kansas City over the next five years. Kind of ruins, the sport for me, personally since my whole NFL life, there’s always been just one team dominating and I’m sorry that you can’t see that you don’t have what it takes to win a championship with your quarterback. Regardless of who’s fault it is, I just don’t believe in your quarterback. He’s very good and the starter, and I defended him the entire 2021 off-season, when everyone on social media was saying that he was terrible, but he, since proven himself as a very good starting quarterback, that doesn’t mean I think he is championship level. Not in the AFC.
Tua's accuracy and timing are useless if he can't perform when a play breaks down.
Son you check the WRs and it throws off timing. The whole offense revolves on timing because the OL can't hold the pocket. Watch closely son don't parrot and listen to Dan da man.
@@PA96704 Even when the line holds up he struggles at times. Too timing reliant, gotta be able to perform when the play breaks down. He is too small, weak, and slow to extend plays. Not a franchise QB.
@@nickm-n4d welcome to the NFL where everyone struggles. Breakdown our defense please.
@@PA96704 some struggle more than others
@@nickm-n4d 34-19 top passer this yr and top Qbr last yr. Yes some struggle 😁
Dan was great during the reg season but always choked come playoff time. Could never perform on the big stage.
Hes blind and old
Watched the super bowl. Almost every call and no call went totally against the 49ers. What a fixed game. Not a fan or hater of either team. The NFL has become the WWE. Disgusting.
I did the math. He’d throw for 1300 yards.
