But I do find the level of fear for this"virus" and the measures exaggerated.
Tony shalboub is a great actor, his impression of monk is perfect. The nervous tics and the compulsions about cleaning and organizing stuff were subtle but great touches.
You know, the second opening was always in the back in my mind for almost 2 decades now, and I finally gave in and relistened to this. And I'm really glad I did.

The more that i watched Monk, the more he is a "modern day" Columbo. They can be irritating, annoying, but they are brilliant in putting everything together and solving the crimes. At some point, they always figure it out. The only difference is Columbo is older and wears a raincoat.
I’m a fan of both Monk and Columbo. Monk is an interesting take as he’s the antithesis of Columbo, who was unkempt and scruffy. He would eat boiled eggs at crime scenes and show up in pyjamas and a dirty raincoat. It’s almost like the creators chose to have the completely opposite character traits - and then turn them up to eleven. Masterful performances from both Falk and Shalhoub.
The actress won an award for the show and she along with some other characters wanted pay raises since the show did so well, they didn’t raise it so she left
While the second theme song is funny, I still prefer the original opening. Also the visuals are more cohesive, they have a storyline, not a mere montage of other scenes.
I actually love the 2-8 intro song. It's a musical masterpiece and a very accurate piece of music. It even shows the plot pattern of the episodes! I just love it :)
Season 2 and onward is the one true song that fits monk . However the best intro is the season 2-3 one. I dislike how they simply deleted Sharona from the intro like she didn't exist. She is the reason why Monk got back being a detective.

I'm still puzzled by the sudden departure of Sharona from the series when it's out of her character, she wouldn't have left him like that.
The reason she left was because the actor had an argument about her contract and quit so it had nothing to do with Sharona

Season 1 theme was so tuff it’s just a vibe. But season 2-8 is so iconic one of the best tv shows
