Clear, concise, and has personality. I can actually understand the deck techs(haven't competed since 98). The only others I watch are bad boy(shits and giggles), and of course the professor. Love the channel 👍👍🤘
I've been playing Goblins the last couple months and I have preferred Goblin Instigator over Wily Goblin in almost every situation. Just the fact that Goblin War Chief makes him cheaper felt like enough, but I also feel like the extra gobo is more versatile than the treasure you get from Wily, considering all the "sacrifice a goblin" opportunities. I would love to hear other thoughts on this. Also Dev, newly subscribed, I'm really liking the style of your videos.
He was suggesting cutting instigator for lands, but I was mostly just posing the question for thought. I personally don't run Wily, and replaced it with two Shock, and two Fight With Fire. Like I said, I just wanted to hear thoughts. Also, I love Skirk. He allows for some seriously fun plays, and combos extremely well with Seige-gang.
You're missing out by not including the Flame of Keld. The hand refill followed by the damage boost to Firebrand, Siege-Gang and Chainwhirler's ETB is immense, as is the extra creature combat boost. It's criminally underrated and allows for some insane mid game plays.
The mana curve is too high for Flame of Keld. Given that you would actually *want* to have 2 Siege Gang Commanders in hand and that would preclude using your Flame of Keld prior to turn 7, at least, it's not a great fit for the deck.
That's fair, I run my gobbos a little closer to the ground than this so I can see where you're coming from. You can however get mana ramp from the Prospectors/Wily Goblin treasures which allows you to speed out an earlier Siege gang if you need it. You can also draw into the SG with the extra cards on chapter 2, allowing you to have one on the table for the third phase.
Thanks for the brew! I was just thinking about building goblin for the new rotation (on top of your sapproling deck i built already), and now I have your awesome builds to go off of!
Coming off Mono Red Aggro as my first ever competitive REL constructed list since Amonkhet, and being left with essentially nothing but the Burn and Ashes (PUNS! I got em too). I walked into my LGS today and picked up this list in its entirety minus mountains and A foil squee which I happened to have drafted. I'm pretty excited considering how much were losing and how little I just spent, to consider myself to still be on what I have to assume will be at the very least a T2 competative standard deck, and only getting better from here. Thought I owed it to you to share that with you and yours so, there you go. might check back in after I hit up my first FNM (Greater Seattle area magic represent) or whatever and let you know how it performs for me. Thanks for the deck bud.
Going to run this today! I hope it plays as well as the Mono Black Burn that deck was so sweet! by far your best budget deck in a long time! Keep up the good work man.
I don't get to play as much as i used to, but goblins are guaranteed to be a party in a box!!! love the video Dev! and finally.. someone suggested blasting cannons haha. gonna have a gobbo deck again real soon
actually been playing a deck similar to this in Arena and its more fun than your average expensive red deck wins. EDIT: the one mountain in the board is SPICY
You are hands down my favorite brewer on UA-cam. These budget brews are great. Doesn’t break the bank and fun to play. Do you ever stream/commentate gameplay?
Márcio Oliveira i personally run 2 kelds ands volley veterans in place of her place. This list is super close to what I use otherwise, to be fair I've not tried using dark-dweller
Awesome Deck, this helped me update my standard deck and my first tournament is today! Love your vids keep making them rotation proof decks it’s awesome
Ive been experimenting with Helm of the Host. This works pretty well with Siege Gang Commander, and most of the Goblins. Its tough to get the mana but its awesome when it works out.
I don't get to play as much as i used to, but goblins are guaranteed to be a party in a box!!! 😆 love the video Dev! and finally.. someone suggested blasting cannons haha. gonna have a gobbo deck again real soon😆
Reminds me of Onslaught era goblin decks! Helps that both Siege-Gang and Warchief were part of that block. Only thing it's missing is Goblin Sharpshooter (ooooh maybe it will get reprinted in Guilds of Ravnica!)
Great deck Dev, but you can take it to the next level and give the deck not only the ability to deal with flyers, but the ability to go infinite by adding Teshar. This might sound like Magical Christmas Land, but hear me out. Add in a playset of Teshar, a playset of Squee's, and swap out 4 mountains for 4 Clifftop Retreats. With Wily Goblin in the deck you have 8 sources of plains for Teshar. If you have a Goblin Prospector, Goblin Warchief, Squee, Goblin Chainwhirler, and a Teshar out it's game over. Using Prospector's ability sack Squee and Chainwhirler, then cast Squee from your graveyard using the two Mana from Prospector's ability. Warchief makes Squee's cost RR, with Teshar's ability you bring back Chainwhirler to the battlefield for free. Rinse and repeat that and you'll ping your opponents creatures and life total away to victory!!! 😂😂😂 Even if you never assemble the combo, which is easier than it sounds, you have the benefits of a flyer who can help with recursion from your graveyard. It's DIRTY AF to bring back Siege-Gang a couple times to flood the board. Talk about possible play lines.....
The 8 dual lands would kill the budget, on their own depending upon what is printed in Guilds of Ravinica and you would need at least 8 multi-color lands to support a splash color and Chainwhirler in the same deck.
This is pretty close to identical to the goblin deck I've been running on magic online for the past week or so. The only difference with the main deck I have is I only run 3 copies of Dark-Dweller Oracle and run a 22nd land instead. The sideboard is a bit different though. It isn't technically rotation-proof, as I'm running Magma Spray instead of the Shocks, but that is what I would switch them out for once rotation does come. I am also running 2 copies of The Flame of Keld to bring in a little extra card drawing against control and am also running a copy of Blood Sun to shut down Search for Azcantas and other annoying lands. I didn't consider Blasting Cannon for the deck, so decided to give that a try, seems like it could be pretty decent actually. It has been a pretty fun deck, and actually wins quite a bit more than I thought it would.
What about the cannon enchantment that allows you to sac a creature or artifact to deal damage? Wily is two mana to burn for two. Instigator costs one for two bodies, if you have chief out.
Yee goblin return!! Cool deck, definetly worth some matches, looking foward play it I was also thinking about a deck but almost never managed to build it A mono red sort of ramp midrange jank : all about skirk prospector and some goblins to get mana earlier in the game with skirk and play phoenix, dragons, the red dinosaur( etali?), hamphazards bombardments...
What do you think about Volley Veteran in this deck? Seems like a nice creature to give haste to, get's cheaper by the warchief and would probably work nicely with the go-wide strategy. I guess he is a bit of a win-more and probably too expensive?
What would your upgrades to the deck be? Would it just be a few utility lands in the mainboard? If so how many would be good without stretching the mana base for chainwhirler.
Thanks for the deck, Dev. I don't see how Goblins has any game against the UW control deck that will still exist after rotation, though. It's hard to believe a dedicated SB will be able to overcome such a lopsided game one against a suite of Seal Away and Settle the Wreckage. Teferi and all his friends already have me dreading the post-rotation meta. I have very little faith in their play design team since it's obvious their test meta never put a Nexus of Fate in any of their play decks. I'm worried this will be energy all over again and we'll have a single deck meta until they finally have to ban Teferi. Here's to hoping Guilds of Ravinica has some mega control hosers.
Andross TheRed I'm not even worried about the Fog version. I think UW or Esper are better builds post-rotation, because Spring//Mind is surprisingly important to the deck.
David Kadonsky Banefire, Lightning Mare, control loses it's best counters and goblins lose nothing. Control might have the edge game 1 but post sideboard goblins have more action.
Ironocy Lightning Mare is one I haven't seen mentioned, but I'll keep it in mind. The problem isn't countermagic, it's the efficient white removal. This matchup probably gets better when Cleansing Nova has to come in for Fumigate, but it's still going to be a losing battle of threats vs efficient answers. Goblins build isn't fast enough to consistently get under control in Game one. After sideboard, things certainly get better, but even if goblins is a slight favorite after SB, it will often need to win 2 straight to take the match. It's hard to see Goblins ever being favored in a Bo3. It's a matter of waiting to see what tools come out for everything with Guilds of Ravnica.
Love the vid dev, QA: why no goblin barrage like in the previous gobbo deck? Also maybe volley veteran? Lastly the comments have some great ideas, like including a flame of keld and one dude with a spicy infinite teshar combo! Also think you said three instigators in the deck but showed four? Anyways spread love and be kind
Might have to put this together for my cousin. He is more a kitchen table player but im trying to get him out to the LGS. This looks like a good "starter" deck
What are your thoughts on volley veteran? I feel like he's too good to pass up with his enter the battlefield trigger typically killing another creature.
I would like to see a black/red sacrifice deck with doomed dissenter , goblin instigator , dragon egg , blood divinision , brawl-bach ogre , demon of catastrophes , togaar , act of treason , thud , vicious offering and siege gang commander!
I would suggest 22 lands. 21 lands is fine since you have some mana buffers like warchief, willy, and skirk, but 22 give more consistency probabilistically speaking.
Todd Hall I find it critical with Bolas in the format. It's often times a juiced up Searing Blaze. You will lose the goblin due to it getting blocked so saccing it to kill the creature instead is perfectly fine.
I already got the Instigators, Trashmasters and Banefires. Now I'm considering picking up some Oracles and/or Blasting Cannons. Chainwhirler is still far beyond my budget.
@@whitefangofdawn908 I don't think the higher curve discounts flames inclusion. Especially if you couldn't cast them anyway. I think the draw and damage increase would be welcome.
I believe if you use the full way to cast spells, you define the total costs (cost reduction by warchief) before activating mana abilities (sac'ing to prospector). So you could cast Siege-Gang on turn 4 without a 4th land drop.
Personally I would take out dark dweller oracle for 4 vanquishers banner. More + to your boys, and having low cost boys means drawing lots of cards. Have you tried working with it, non budget?

Pedro H I agree with your Wily Goblin comment. I'd rather run extra lands. Goblin Instigator is so much better than Wily. T1 Prospector, t2 Instigator, T3 sac Instigator and token play siege gang or sac just token and play trashmaster. Don't want to miss land drops with this deck. I only run 1 Dark Dweller Oracle, it's too slow early game.

The mana source is also pretty good

I had the exact same reaction. Would at least run 4 instigator's and would even consider cutting the wily completely here.

I like Goblin Trashmaster's flavor text. "contraptions" :D
Great deck. Been working on a goblin list myself. I forgo the shamans and add more burn and guttersnipe for fun. Thanks for the upload!
Robert Kilpatrick This. Oracle = too slow. Play more burn and lands.
Wow, and I was precisely looking this week for a Goblin deck that I could make, great timing. Thanks yet again for your budget decks!
Thanks for the brew! I was just thinking about building goblin for the new rotation (on top of your sapproling deck i built already), and now I have your awesome builds to go off of!
I'll be happy for this rotation, it's getting stale, and I live for the Jank!!
Kel'Thuzad I’m just glad Supreme Will is rotating. That card is so busted
What do people mean when they say "jank" and also what does it mean when something is "broken"?

Hey Dev, it's great that you take the time to really explain things through! Ever tried making your own Duel Decks to be played against each other?
did the 10$ version and was waiting for a big update on it. looks great, cant wait to get all the pieces and get this up and running, thanks dev!
You are hands down my favorite brewer on UA-cam. These budget brews are great. Doesn’t break the bank and fun to play.

This looks like a ton of fun! I clicked the link and ordered this deck. Really looking forward to it!
Robert Castillo Goblins is super fun. Not the most competitive but it can win games against top decks. Goblins get out of hand real quick.
Awesome Deck, this helped me update my standard deck and my first tournament is today! Love your vids keep making them rotation proof decks it’s awesome

Just a few tweaks to make from your last budget Gobbo deck. Awesome!
I'd really like to see some update videos on these Rotation-proof decks post-rotation to include all the goodies that Ravnica brings!
Jace Mauldin My guess is gobs stays the same or might splash white for some boros goodness.
Need more of Those pro tips from time to time. Great job!
Just built my mono red goblins deck a few days ago, can't wait to watch and see what Dev has to say
I've been loving goblins, it's nice to see your list to compare.
Yee goblin return!!

At least we've got clearance around superfriends.
What would your upgrades to the deck be? Would it just be a few utility lands in the mainboard? If so how many would be good without stretching the mana base for chainwhirler.
I was hoping you would do a rotation proof goblin deck. I made the other one that you made before and it’s been working pretty good for me.
Bring back the Hip Hop.
Great deck as usual!!! Which cards would be the best to take out when putting in sideboard cards. Thx.
"And this gives us a final score of sixty-_____" on every deck lol. Never change Dev.
Thanks for the deck, Dev. I don't see how Goblins has any game against the UW control deck that will still exist after rotation, though. It's hard to believe a dedicated SB will be able to overcome such a lopsided game one against a suite of Seal Away and Settle the Wreckage.

David Kadonsky heck yeah man, seriously tired of seeing turbo fog, Nexus of fate shenanigans
Andross TheRed I'm not even worried about the Fog version. I think UW or Esper are better builds post-rotation, because Spring//Mind is surprisingly important to the deck.
I think it will still be around, there are other graveyard mechanics that let you get used sorceries

Aggro control red blue....
Might have to put this together for my cousin. He is more a kitchen table player but im trying to get him out to the LGS. This looks like a good "starter" deck
This, mono red Wizards and Flame of Keld/Guttersnipe are going to be your 3 RDW choices post-rotation. Wizards seems the most consistent in testing.
What are your thoughts on volley veteran? I feel like he's too good to pass up with his enter the battlefield trigger typically killing another creature.
This list has little main board game against steel leaf champion. Volley veteran and some main board fight with fire seem necessary
Love these man, thanks! Especially for a newer player not wanting to spend a fortune.
In Guilds of Ravnica there are both Izzet and Boros. So I suspect we will get more goblin cards to consider.
Ethan Johnson maybe even gruul
Up until rotation you can slot in GPG for recursion
I would like to see a black/red sacrifice deck with doomed dissenter , goblin instigator , dragon egg , blood divinision , brawl-bach ogre , demon of catastrophes , togaar , act of treason , thud , vicious offering and siege gang commander!
I've been playing a deck similar to this, I don't use Dark Dweller Oracle at all. Replace it with Shock in the main.
I would suggest 22 lands. 21 lands is fine since you have some mana buffers like warchief, willy, and skirk, but 22 give more consistency probabilistically speaking.
I think this video deserves a goblin rap intro from Dev!!!
I love playing Goblin Barrage in this deck.
How do you feel about Goblin Barrage?
Todd Hall I find it critical with Bolas in the format. It's often times a juiced up Searing Blaze. You will lose the goblin due to it getting blocked so saccing it to kill the creature instead is perfectly fine.
Great ideas for upgrading the $10 Goblins deck you sold me on so long ago.
I already got the Instigators, Trashmasters and Banefires. Now I'm considering picking up some Oracles and/or Blasting Cannons. Chainwhirler is still far beyond my budget.
Can you target a creature with oracle and then target the same creature with skirk prospector so that the cost is net zero?
Do you think running a few copies of Guttersnipe would be viable
Siding shock in vs aggro and control??
Doesn’t that = main deck shock?
How would you upgrade this deck for no budget list?
Soooooo bit of a dumb question, what exactly makes a card rotation proof?
I wanted to replace my hazoret aggro deck thanks. I thought i would want goblins over dragons just because everyone i know has a red dragon deck
The missing Flame of Keld is mind boggling. That card is so amazing for this kind of deck. Even as a 2-3 of.
It's out because of the mana curve
@@whitefangofdawn908 I don't think the higher curve discounts flames inclusion. Especially if you couldn't cast them anyway. I think the draw and damage increase would be welcome.
Good job again Dev. I am going to try it out.
Love goblin decks!
this deck is good enough for a FNM?
Which sets are going out of rotation?
Can you use Warchief to reduce Siege-Gang to 4, and then sac Warchief to Skirk Prospector to pay for 1 of those 4?
camfunme nope once you sac war chief sgc goes back up to 5 mana I believe
I believe if you use the full way to cast spells, you define the total costs (cost reduction by warchief) before activating mana abilities (sac'ing to prospector). So you could cast Siege-Gang on turn 4 without a 4th land drop.
What do people mean when they say "jank" and also when people say something is "broken "?
I really love me some Rigging Runner in main, maybe I'd remove 2 Instigators and 2 Oracles, or one of each for 2 Runners
Personally I would take out dark dweller oracle for 4 vanquishers banner. More + to your boys, and having low cost boys means drawing lots of cards. Have you tried working with it, non budget?
Tribal and competitive ... YAAAS QUEEN
I love Goblins!
What about Goblin instigator
I think I opened UA-cam the moment this finished uplpading
Cannot wait for the Ravnica Spoilers!
No guttersnipe?
This deck has been performing well for me
I´ve been playing gobos both in arena and in my FNM´s for some time and I think that the main attractive to play goblins are Volley veteran and Goblin barrage because those are the tribal-related cards that allow 2for1´s more reliably. I am also not sure about Willy goblin in any manner as for me it is a rather mediocre card. Apart form it I love you content Dev, spread love and be kind!
I only run 1 Dark Dweller Oracle, it's too slow early game.
ive Been waiting for this and looks good
No Goblin Barrage? How dare you dismiss the FLAVOR.
Great deck tech. I don't even play standard and I want to buy this deck...
Nice content! Well made deck!
I'd drop dwellers to 2 copies and throw in some trumpet blasts for when u go wide
Run four squee and four goblin dark dweller and.three gate to afterlife so u can dig through your deck faster while you gain life.
Love you too dev! Keep at it
I want this to be good but it's so weak to chainwhirler...
Gobbos! Great. Good.
This deck is going to be the new Orleans saints of standards.
How so?
What would make this deck better, more expensive and rotation proof? I went 3-0 tonight so I’d like to expand
Dude finally!
Dev....how does this deck handle shield mare effectively?
Me like goblin, goblin tough, goblin fierce...not hesitate to sacrifice for win, or draw...or loss...w/e
why not krenko mob boss?
Vizjerei Krenko is not in standard which is what this video is talking about.
ty
I'm missing the guttersnipe, i would prefer guttersnipe over dark dweller
9:15, you say 3 copies, but the graphic says 4
how does a card synergise with itself ?
It sets up its own combo (Siege-Gang gives you 1/1 goblins when you summon it, you can sacrifice a goblin and pay mana to deal 2 damage).
helm of the host is a great card in this deck
remember siege gang commander was like ... 5 dollar when it first came out because everyone want a goblin deck... with sharpshooter at 10 dollars.
Hard to beat with my G/R deck
