    Yes, I have four. Only one backlash when I snagged weeds on the back cast. Love these reels.

      It is a good reel I did just blow the anti reverse bearing out of one though. But it is a dedicated frog reel. So it get used a lot and gets it’s fair share of work horse on it.

    What is a good rod to pair with this reel? I fish smallmouth fishing from shore a lot on the mississippi and bass from my canoe in smaller lakes. Will it work well with smaller jigs, topwater and wacky worms? Thanks!

    • @joshandhuntersadventures5046
      @joshandhuntersadventures5046  9 місяців тому +2

      This reel would be good for jigs and Topwater probably not so much on a wacky since most of the time they are fished on a spinning reel. As far as a rod check out the Dobyns Fury line they are priced around $129 and are great rods. Hope that helps thanks for watching

    I teach people that have never thrown a baitcaster how to cast without getting a backlash. It is the best anti backlash reel on the market, even better than the DC reels with the computer chip in them.

    Hello Josh and Hunter, I'm new to your videos, I just subscribed. I absolutely love this reel; (I have 2 of them among my collection of Tatula's 11 total of different varieties). Both are "identical" SV TW 103's, however, 1 has Purple and the other has Gold on it. They are both an 8.1:1 gear ratio reel as well. I'm not really sure what to make of the different colors with the same gear ratio on the exact same reel. If you have any insight on this, please share. Thanks, and Tight lines fellas!

    • @joshandhuntersadventures5046
      @joshandhuntersadventures5046  Рік тому +1

      If you are talking about the colors that Daiwa uses on the reel for distinguishing the gear ratio. Each speed has a different color. Is that what you are talking about?

    • @CapnDanTreasures
      @CapnDanTreasures Рік тому

      Yes, however I have 2 SV TW 103's that are exactly the same. Yet 1 is purple, and 1 is gold... I was also under the impression that the different colors meant different gear ratios... I don't understand it either

      You must be really hard and abusive on your fishing gear. I've been fishing since the early 70's using primarily Daiwa Reels, and like Josh, I too keep up the maintenance on them, and I have yet to need replacement parts on any of my Reels. Good luck to you Sir. Tight Lines!!

      The K’s suck. I have lots of Curado reels that I love from previous gen and I have 2 metaniums. Nothing against shimano reels, but the K is just not the quality of the previous generation curados. Not as smooth, feels too large to me, doesn’t cast as well. I’m looking at Tatula to try another brand’s $200 reel for that reason. It may not be any better, with my high expectations, but we’ll see. Diawa has one shot to show me something. Also, the Curado M looks identical to the K to me so not sure they really changed anything, so I’m not even looking at that one based on my experience with the K.

    They stopped changing the colors for the diff gear ratios in the 2020 model. You must be reviewing the 2017 model. Both great reels. Some stores sell the old model under the same listing so that's kind of annoying. But they have a 2017sv, 2020sv, and 2023sv. Only the 2017 has the color coding.

    • @dadbod4life
      @dadbod4life Місяць тому

      @ the housing is different on each model. Performance wise not that much different besides the 2023 having the sv boost spool and the 2017-2020 having the original sv spool and a slightly wider handle on the 2017. Hand in hand the 2020 got a smaller housing and shed a good amount of weight. The 2023 has a concave upper for people who hold their thumb over the entire spool. But it’s definitely not worth upgrading imo if someone has the original models in good working order.
