Bought this to automate my rolling shutters that are triggered by a light switch. Just wanted to mention that I use my ring cameras as motion detectors to trigger my smart Wi-Fi enabled lightbulbs that have been integrated into my Amazon echo as the hub. With the routines function on the Alexa app, possibilities are endless. I also set a routine to trigger by telling Alexa it’s time to get ready for bed and my SwitchBot turns on my ceiling fan, my lamp in the master bedroom turns on, and the lights downstairs turn off. Loving the switchbots and can’t wait to set up more routines!
I live in Japan and was surprised this worked with the Japanese style aircons we use here. My TV was not listed so thankfully there is a manual setup in which you teach the Switch hub certain buttons on the remote. Now, I can turn on the lights and TV with volume at night when I am away to give the illusion that I'm home.
Watching this video and I found it hilarious how similar our apartments are (we’re), and the flic buttons on the light fixings etc. made me miss living in Toronto! Back in the UK and still using my flic buttons, and also just added Aqara to my set up. Now looking into switch bot for a specific use case, but will only need one and don’t want to have to get a hub. So I have a question, can I set up a time based routine with just the switch bot app and one singular switch bot, foregoing the hub completely? Or not? Let me know buddy.
@@JSyntax amazing. So to clarify. I can just buy one switch bot. No hub. Set up in the app for a button to be pressed at 6am in the morning and 6pm in the evening every day. And it will work without a problem, and without me needing to be at home?
You told us a lot now I scheduled my switchbox to turn my AC on at 3:30 I am 15 miles away Does my phone need to be next to this switchbox before it will do anything it did not work today
Btw, if you want it for lights, you could just get a smart lightbulbs. I use the C by GE. No hubs and pretty cheap. No need to swap the light switches. But I'm just to lazy to physically turn on my computer , so I have it set to do that. Would recommend.
How close does your phone have to be to the switch bot (without a hub) for it to work? I’d like to set a schedule for the same button to be pushed every half hour but only when I am home/within range of the bot. So what is that range that my phone needs to be in to send the signal to press?
can you just order the switch bot to turn on/off ur lights on the app or do you need the hub mini ? for instance i only would get one switch bot do i still need the hub mini to turn on/off on the app ?
Just bought some mostly due to i live in a apartment too with restrictions to what i can do to customize it. So wgen i saw this on youtube my eyes went crazy cartoon big. I only plan to use the 3 i ordred to turn on and off lights. I am in the same situation with the smartbulbs thing and i think these would work best in small spaces like apartments since i believe the hub have a short bluetooth range? The other thing that stood out to me is the price in uk versus some other places. I was able to get 3 bots and a hub mini for 89 pounds. Seems weird such a genial idea isnt available here in denmark. A little christmas gidt to myself haha
Amazing. Let me know how it goes! Bluetooth range is quite far. I made a video about how I had the hub sent a bluetooth signal to the downstairs dehumidifier which is quite far!
Hi there, i can't programme any schedule because it says not connected, although i hae tried it already and the switch is working! Any idea why is that?
Could the switch bot be connected to the Sonoff Ns panel display. There is an thermostat option. I would like to use switchbot to toggle on and off my Zibro laser stove. I can set an temperature scene on my Sonoff ns panel over the Ewelink app. It would be awesome if the switchbot could be paired with that. And klink the stove on if the temp is getting under the pre set temperature. Tis could be used on any cooling or heating device without cutting the internal on and off switch wires.
Hi! Just wondering if the SwitchBot Hub Mini will be able to remotely turn on a Playstation 5. I was looking for a device that will be able to do this so I can turn on my console even if I'm not at home. Thank you for sharing this video!
I have a question, so if I only want one switch bot, do I have to get the hub mini or no? What I got from the video is the hub mini allowing you to use multiple switch bots when not at home but I don’t really care for that so would I need the hub mini still or no?
Hey! I got a question :) if you press the switch manually once, can you still control via Google Home? Or will it mess it up? Like if I manually turn on the light can I say “hey Google switch off the light” to switch it off? Thanks for the great video!
Hi there. I’m looking for a non- smart switchbot to reset my internet modem in our second home which is hundreds of miles away. So I just need a timer function to press the button once a day at a specified time. Any suggestions? I appreciate your help.
They should have made a zigbee version of this switch (or someone should) Bluetooth range not good compared compared to zigbee. Takes too long to fire And this switch not strong enough for some switches
I like that product, but there is a big issue for me that this thing has... There is no possibility to adjust the angle movement of the bot arm, for me this is an issue because the bot's arm is quite strong and if the device you want to automate has very sensitive buttons that doesn't need too much strengh the switchbot will smash it too hard. This might damage your "dumb" device or the switchbot, because it might fall (this happened to me actually)

Can you set unlimited timers to get the SwitchBot to press every 10 mins, or space out a schedule of times every 10mins?
Sounds really cool, I have actually never seen anything like this before.
It's awesome
You told us a lot now I scheduled my switchbox to turn my AC on at 3:30 I am 15 miles away Does my phone need to be next to this switchbox before it will do anything it did not work today
I believe it's on memory so no worries!
from wat ive seen it also works wit home assisten and a pi 4 as a hub
What really?!
nice can et setup to a motion sensor on it
It’s very cumbersome. The loop keeps coming out of the groove.
You'll need to tweak the positioning so that it doesn't come out!
Is possible control outside my home only with the switchbot?
Yes
One question.. the switch off hook is included in the box ?

Can you use it on Siri and shortcuts? And also have it turn on automatically with timings? Thanks great video
I believe so!
you need the hub
Great and thorough review. Appreciated throughout the video the clips and examples of its use! Sub'd!
Thank you
Thank you for the video. Can you setup a fixed schedule to turn on/off from the app without the hub?
yes you can set a schedule I believe without hub
Have you heard about switch to curtains?
can you just order the switch bot to turn on/off ur lights on the app or do you need the hub mini ? for instance i only would get one switch bot do i still need the hub mini to turn on/off on the app ?
yes but no remote cloud or assistant control. only bluetooth via their app I believe
@@JSyntax oh ok sweet thanks for the info appreciate it !

deserve much more view ..great review bro
Thank you
I have the old school regular light switches , how do I make this work???
would this work on a light switch? like the old fashion ones
No, only rocker style switches!
the little thing that comes out goes too far out and it falls off the wall, how do fix this
Make a video on uses for it!
I did
@@JSyntax dj Khalid says another one

Cant turn my cloud service on

The question I have is can you set up to push a button on your keyboard over and over?
Maybe if it's in the edges of a thin keyboard

If it's a flat surface, yes! It's possible. Can you send me a pic of the device?
Can this press the button to flush a toilet? Is it strong enough?
i wish.. haha, i dont think so
Would you be able to set this device up to say press a button every couple of seconds over and over?
Yes! I believe so
Would the Switchbot hub work with the Myo gesture armband?
Sorry, i dont have one to test!

This only works with Alexa if you buy the hub too?
No, it works with many assistants like googles
@@JSyntax so I can just buy the switch and it’ll connect to my echo dot?

You can program a set schedule
Can I use it remotely thru the app when I’m far away?
If connected to the hub yes
Do I have to buy SwitchBot Hum Mini, to control SwitchBot far from my house by my IPhone ??
No, u can use direct bluetooth connection
do u need a hub when using only 1 switchbot ?
No
You only need the hub to connect to the cloud. You only need to connect to the cloud for out of home operation or connecting to alexa/google home.
They should have made a zigbee version of this switch (or someone should) Bluetooth range not good compared compared to zigbee. Takes too long to fire And this switch not strong enough for some switches
I'll need to google what a zigbee is!
I bought 2 devices and the hub... only 1 device is able to switch a electric plug .... It is not efficient... too expensive to have a bot at home !!!!
You can control lots of IR powered devices with the hub, like your tv and some air conditioners! It's truly amazing.
Lol, but get a smart thermostat before anything else.

In 2020 every thech reviewer should know not to say 'Alexa' on camera
My apologies
It's 2020, every one still using "Alexa" as their wake word deserves false activation. Just change it to something else.
@@junrosamura645 nope Alexa is the best one and we shout have to change it
