    Great video, Distrokid is quite a smooth experience overall. I too was surprised by how well Bundled mastering worked, did not expect that. :)

    When you’re going to release your 2022 #songtember, do it in your evening time on September 30 in Australia so that it will be available on September 30 in the morning & afternoon in the America, Europe & Africa or do it on October 1 morning time in Australia.

    Great video Pete, thank you. Question: Are there any benefits/down sides, to releasing a single, vs EP, vs Album? Cost per year is the same, but is promotion easier/harder? Do songs get onto playlists the same? Thanks in advance. :)

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  2 роки тому +3

      Hey there. So, most artists these days focus on singles, so they can promote and try to get playlist placement one by one. Then compile in to an EP or an album so that the tunes get another "chance". So that's probably the most consistent and successful way most artists use.

    Hey man so I’ve watched some of your tutorials and been looking around the web trying to find a answer to this but maybe you can help. I’m trying to figure out how to use my air pod pro as my microphone in garage band on my iPhone 13. I also have a iPad Pro but I haven’t tried it on there yet but I’m thinking I’m going to run into the same problem. Also what microphone do you suggest to record audio with that’s easy set up for a iPad/iPhone. Thanks for your help and your video tutorials have helped a ton so far 👍🏼

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  2 роки тому

      Hey there. So, you'd actually be better off using the built in mic and a pair of regular wired headphones. Bluetooth just doesn't play nicely with recording due to latency.

    • @N.Mcneely
      @N.Mcneely 2 роки тому

      Is there a certain microphone that plugs in using lightning cable that you would suggest using? Or a usb mic that I could get a lightning adapter for?

    As always, super helpful. Its almost like you knew what i was looking for the moment i needed it. Im writing a song, and i have a question. Is it possible to make the tracks on garage band like doby vision? And what i mean is: i want my piano to be in front of the listener, a little to the right, and i want the guitar a little to the left. Im bot sure if it lets you control that but your a life saver so idk

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  2 роки тому

      So, surround sound mixing and standards are a little complex. Most mixing is stereo only so just left and right. There is Dolby Atmos but not often supported on most platforms. ua-cam.com/video/f_rlWBcKp28/v-deo.html

    Thank you Pete. Question: Once you have uploaded a bunch of "singles", and "now" you decide you want to compile a handful of those into an EP, how do you go about that? I presume you tick the "released before" box? Any other tips or tricks re compiling into EP's, etc? Love to hear them!

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  2 роки тому +1

      Hey there Derek. So, “released before” only actually applies to the same exact release (single, EP, album). You can re-upload singles you’ve released previously as an EP or album and it’s considered a new release. So just set up a new release, upload the files and you’ll be good to go. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid

    How do I change the album title before it releases? I have correct title for my visual art album cover but below it the title underneath, I had messed up on a couple of words🫤. It gives me the option to abort my album, but I am not sure if that would be the right option. I saw in one of your previous videos about clicking the EDIT RELEASE, but I don’t have that option. I just submitted mine today. So I am waiting on the approval. What would be my next steps? I really need to change that title underneath so that it matches the album cover title.

    How would one get around putting their real name in the songwriters field if they are trying to keep their real name a secret?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  2 роки тому

      Generally not a good idea. The songwriter field is not published many places but is important if there is ever any dispute about royalties and who actually owns a song. So always best to use your real name. Your artist name can be anything though.

    • @brookeandglen1011
      @brookeandglen1011 2 роки тому

      @@PeteJohnsMusic see the problem with that is, I’m an artist who keeps his legal name private.. So putting my legal name out there is legit against what I’ve been doing… If there is a dispute the streaming platform can just contact my distributor, then my distributor contact me since in their systems it states, my account was the one who distributed the song. I think this is less about copyright control and just more about CONTROL over the artist period. I think this because Distrokid could easily contact me, and ask for my legal name privately if they need it…
