I'm pretty sure you put more than 250 ft.lbs. on that axle nut. It looks like the torque is to keep the nut from loosening and a little extra , as long as nothing strips or breaks, is not necessarily a bad thing. I'd hate to be the next guy trying to take that nut off that axle! I am glad you could order the shims you need. I'm pretty sure paying someone to make them for you would have cost way more than what you paid. It is great the way you find solutions to the challenges of fixing old equipment. You are an inspiration, Mr. Nelson. God Bless.

@IP Farms Yep, they all fall under Case/New Holland. Sperry Corp. bought New Holland in 1947, then it was bought by Ford Motor Company in 1986, then FiatAgri in 1991. Then, in 1999, Fiat Group acquired Case Corp and merged it with New Holland to create CNH Global.

Love your torque wrench, and a question what kind of wire and gas are you using in your welder, Nelson all I can tell you is order one of those old man steps well worth the $ for the 1086! Be kind brother!👍

Figured it would be a good conversation piece Keith, can't really argue not knowing the exact specs 😉😉😉 But let's just say my OCD allows for follow ups off camera and we were close for sure !! The wire is generic, but the gas is a "special" blend let's say. The ole Lincoln loved it, but I am gonna have to tinker with the Hobart some it doesn't like it quite as much! I am gonna look into those steps for sure!!! Thank you so much Keith for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍🍻🍻

Awesome job. Frankensocket worked perfectly. I think I have the same Rigid wrench too. You sure got lucky with the dealership being so helpful. Great video my friend.

You were just about exactly right Mr Wendell!!!!! We did check by welding a socket on, then borrowed a TA 😉😉😉 I think I was having a little to much fun with those bounces 🤦🤦 Finally getting the hang of that little Hobart!! The ole rigid gal doesn't see a lot of action, but always the perfect fit when she is needed!!! I have to say I agree, Tim is amazing!! Thank you sir for the kind words and always being here!! @@Pennies_on_the_dollar You bouncing on the pipe wrench reminded me of the first time I removed the two piece buds on an '85 C-60 I had. Not realizing the left side of the duals had left hand threads, I couldn't for the life of me get those things to bust loose the same way as you were doing on the Fords axle nut. Then just for the heck of it I tried the other way and holy cow.....I found out the hard way they are left handed on that side of the truck!! I had the long bud wrench on the outer nut, resting on an old RR jack and the 4' pipe wrench and about a 4' cheater on the handle. I could sure hear 'em squeak as I was bouncing and bouncing on it in the wrong direction !!
