Kevin is so multitalented like no joke. Playing the saxophone, playing the cello, playing the piano, beatboxing, singing, producing records, and writing songs. Also, i forgot to mention he graduated from Yale and can speak fluent chinese. Jesus christ this guy needs more credit.
I keep coming across comments like this on PTX videos and I simply do not understand. Yes, Kevin is talented beyond measure, but he gets every bit of credit that he deserves; right from the "meat and potatoes"-days of the Sing-Off, to the latest World Tour, where he is alone on stage for over five minutes (the only member of PTX to be put in the spotlight like that). Fans go crazy over Kevin at live performances, on Twitter and in the UA-cam comment section. He gets loads of credit, all of it deserved, and I just don't 'get' comments that imply he is the unsung hero of Pentatonix when, from my perspective, it is generally acknowledged that he is the most vital member of the group and is duly appreciated by the band and fanbase alike.

Because he can't sing and beatbox at the same time, so it would mean replacing his stellar and pivotal percussion with his singing. I'm pretty sure that Kevin will be the first to admit that while he has a great voice, he is not on the same level as the others, if only because his voice isn't as well-trained, yet. And likewise, while some of the other members can, technically, beatbox, they are not on Kevin's level, so it makes zero sense. Kevin is *amazing* at what he does, one of the very best, and he has a passion for what he does, it's not like he 'got stuck' being the beatboxer. And his beatboxing is so, so important to what makes Pentatonix as great as they are. Why is him getting to sing more solos in any way the ultimate validation of his talent? When his amazing skill and talent already play a key role in almost every song? Honestly, if you think he is the underdog, you are not paying attention (and that is actually an insult to Kevin, while ya'll plead for him to get more credit). I'm sorry.
Lisa Joanna I agree. Actually without Kevin, the group would just be another acapella group--extremely talented acapella group, but they wouldn't get this far if it weren't for the beats. Not only that, but Kevin brings so much SWAG to the group. In fact he IS swag, personified. I love all of them equally, talent-wise--and I'm in love with Scott on a personal level--but I'll give extra credit to Kevin because he makes them extra special and shine brighter than all acapella groups out there and even most of the music industry today.

@@minilea144 oh yea he did the occasional sweeping sounds, like in love again. He wasn't really that underutilized though. Of course his amazing talent needs to be made use of, but also can't have too much of it, and he shouldn't overshadow the others too, so he has his solo moments where he shines, and otherwise just blends in. That balance is what makes a good acapella group.
@@crisscrossam I mean in the ways that Kevin was underutilized. We only heard Avi sing in his deep voice most of the time if he wasnt making bass beats. But just like Kevin, Avi has vocal range. the only reason we heard Avi sing more than Kevin was because Kevin was more shy and uncertain about his voice. I just felt that Avi and Kevin were the most untapped talent. Since Avi left theyre using Kevin and bass maker Matt's voices more than ever.

He wasn't really that underutilized though. Of course his amazing talent needs to be made use of, but also can't have too much of it, and he shouldn't overshadow the others too, so he has his solo moments where he shines, and otherwise just blends in. That balance is what makes a good acapella group.
@@crisscrossam I mean in the ways that Kevin was underutilized. We only heard Avi sing in his deep voice most of the time if he wasnt making bass beats. But just like Kevin, Avi has vocal range. the only reason we heard Avi sing more than Kevin was because Kevin was more shy and uncertain about his voice. I just felt that Avi and Kevin were the most untapped talent. Since Avi left theyre using Kevin and bass maker Matt's voices more than ever.
