    Great video jon, fully enjoyed it and was nice to see you use a shorting pattern I didn't think many people used now,,I remember using a double bulk rig many years ago on the river bure because of the flow during a spring tide

    Enjoyed this Jon, I like fishing this way too. Question though, would you consider over-shotting with the last bulk and laying it on if it helped you achieve a stable presentation or do you think the extra resistance would be detrimental? I’m keen to try laying the last bulk on but with a 4” hook length to keep some sensitivity.

      Good question

      Good question. I'd like to know Jon's opinion too. Personally I think it's better, if not essential to overshot. That was the way I was taught to do it, and I believe it amplifies bites, and acts almost like a mini bolt rig, allowing me to ignore liners and helping to set the hook.

    Nice. Great idea to keep skimmers down in the water as long as possible when you play them, they normally don't come off until they are flopping around on the top (and less likely to attract your toothy friends).

    Thanks Jon, great content as always. Wondered if in some future video you could explain how and why you sit with the pole across both legs.
    Can understand the reason, a solid base, but not sure of the technique. Thanks.

    I am still unsure how much bait to put in before fishing in winter. Some say a tiny amount but you seem to advocate quite a lot. Next time out I will have two swims going, one with 3 big balls and another as wide apart as I can with just the tiny amount. Thanks again for an excellent video.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 роки тому

      All depends on the venue. This one is big and deep and exposed, so hard to have a left n right swim. Smaller shallower venues I definitely prefer a couple swims, one negative, one positive. All the best

    Another great video Jon, I love fishing for the silvers at meadowlands, and usually find if you rest on the slope or just past you get better fish, I always feed hemp, corn and chopped worm loose and with GB,
    Another question unrelated what's happened to the spare eva foam discs for hook lengths? I've heard they're discontinued 😞

    I fish a lot of weedy natural lakes, and the lift method allows me to know whether my bait is presented properly on the bottom, or sat in a clump of weed. I don't know why, but I always like to see a float go under, rather than pop up, so I often use more weight, and fish under tension, so most bites sink the float.
    I use float rubbers on the float tip to make it easier to see bites, it's not permanent like marker pen, and you can slide them up and down.

    Great video Jon I like fishing for skimmers this time of year but can be frustrating some times especially when they start to blow over your feed like micro pellets though you catch but can go funny and they seem to be pre occupied on the micros I usually fish two lines 10 o'clock and say 2 o'clock & a short line for later on
    Is it because the fish sit off the bottom when blowing and go down and back up I should be catching much better with the fish in my peg
    What am I doing wrong? thanks.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 роки тому +1

      Feed less micros is definitely one solution, or less often. You don’t have to feed every drop with skimmers. And a bit of Supercrush expander mixed in will hold them longer. 👍
