Always use the corn liquid out of the can and rinsing water to mix your ground bait in. I was taught to do this 50 years ago for going after Bream and Tench. The smell of the juice will keep the fish in the swim even when they,ve cleared the ground bait and free offerings. That was with cage feeders and balling in .
For the wild carp I fish for here in the US, as well as some other species such as buffalo, catfish, and bullhead, sweetcorn is a great attractor as well as hookbait. But here they aren’t raised on pellet, and few use pellet as either chum or hookbait.
Liquised corn alway worked well for me as a fish attractor. Love seeing different videos like this and a insite into how your thinking with its not working.
Joe - simply but so informative; everytime I view your vids I feel Im their with you !! as to future sessions what about returning to Meadowlands.....and looking to target silvers in a commericial during autumn/winter months.

Carp anglers know spod mixes work and in amongst it all is the cherry on top! I guess this is why we pack our feeders with lots of goodies cos it works. Nice one joe.
Forty minutes flies by when there's loads of tips, tricks and tit-bits of info thrown in. My thoughts are they're on it or they're not...and if you've opened a whole tin only to have it fail then it gets frustrating, then you don't open a tin, then you leave it at home.....and Sod's Law comes into effect, and you get bettered by someone who hasn't fallen out with "The Kernel". Purely down to perseverance methinks, and one day it works and you're handing out the beatings. Nice one Joe, again, and thanks.
Awesome video again Joe always enjoy watching and learning. I would love to see a video on prepping for and setting yourself up at a match and your thinking linked in if that makes sense
If you look at my pole butt section laid in the grass at 30:56 you can see the little fluffy flower things. Skip to the next shot a few seconds later… yep still there. It’s amazing how different lenses alter the perspective of a shot
Like the way you added ground bait to the corn a lot would have done it a bit dry for a cloud but good thinking to get it straight down to where the bait is
A good few years ago before Pellets were about we only use to fish corn & meat at a lot of venues in the West Mids. Usually during Summer months feed 6 or 8 tins of corn😂
Joe, if your able to on this fishery feed small blobs of slop to cloud and make a noise, just corn on the hook, i've found this time of year, ship out then chuck slop.
Hi Joe, make your own tosspots from mouthwash caps - just drill the right size holes through to suit. 🗑 one slightly bigger than the other to allow for the pole taper ! (another, Tight Yorkshire git tip) 🕊⏲
Been to boldings bridge North today fished deepdale from about half nine till three, must of had 200lb feeding and fishing corn down the edge in about 3ft of water, but in the end I was one a chuck at about 5 inches deep.
great video. On the main venue I fish, corn is only allowed as hookbait where it works quite well picking out better fish. So always seems to work for me over Groundbait/pellets etc
Don't be scared of the corn Joe, it won't bite. I put two float rubbers on the pole tip, it works great with the Preston soft pots, they don't come off if your pole tips are on the thinner side like mine, a 10+ yr old Shimano beast master.
@@MatchFishingFilms I'm gonna ask the next double figure carp I catch if he thinks corn is rubbish, and does he prefer corn with or without a side dish of hemp.
I enjoyed that as I like fishing corn on a couple of venues where carp up to 8lbs and big F1’s over 6lbs live. The corn also works up in the water. Only thing is why waste £3 on a tin of F1 corn when you wash it off. I get 5 tins of Audi or Lidl corn for the same price as sonubaits corn. I can add a food flavour for next to nothing if I want.
Awesome vid Joe thank you could you possibly do a vid on feeder fishing like how you know when to clip up I am trying to get more confident on feeder fishing, however it either goes past the far bank or no where near.
I agree, keep finding myself taking it and giving it a go after convincing myself it smells great and must catch. I think deep down it looks so alien when you drop a few pieces in the edge, shining up from the depths it just looks like nothing will eat the bloody bright yellow stuff. Then before you can say Jolly Green Giant it’s removed from my hook and replaced by the usual suspect.
I have the exact opposite opinion on corn. Its always one of my quicker responding baits and gives me action non stop. I am as happy with corn on the hook as any pellet when margin or bottom fishing. Not a shallow bait for me.
Liquidise it adding some hemp And flavour of your choice put into empty pop bottles and freeze then you got them when you want and add to groundbait.. job done just collect the big checks when you win .
Was getting battered by bleak on the Thames at medley……… out came the corn and hey presto nearly a roach a chuck and second in match !! One day joe you’ll be a convert !!
Another great video Joe never tried mixing corn and grounbait like might try it this weekend depending on what lake and peg I draw. Great result last night can't wait to see Casa metro and Amravati play in the midfield together.

It's a funny old game. I had a 19lb carp and won the match with 1 tin of corn fishing the margins ! I do agree, though corn doesn't always work it seems to depend on when and where ! Great video, joe. nice to experiment 👍
Think corn works well on certain venues ie we'll stocked full of nuisance fish corn works well, also works well on clearer lakes, sometimes corn is awesome, sometimes crap
Now strangely it is my number 1 choice of hook bait there is numerous choices when fishing corn the 3 main factors are...Hook choice...Grain size & Shape.... As silly as this sounds you get one of these wrong the clever carp simply will not touch it!...I will see you when you visit the glebe next joe get some confidence in it👍.
Corn is the cheapest alternative if pellet isn't working. Frozen bags of the cheapest sweetcorn dosed in hot water and left overnight to soften. Then use the drained off water to soak your micros. Maggots,Worms,Casters are too expensive now, if you are at a venue that requires a lot of bait.
I often cut the corn kernels in half. Seems to work better when they are only feeding on small baits. I am a big fan of corn. It's cheap and easy to fish with if you are a bit cheap and lazy like me. 😀@@MatchFishingFilms

Sorry for the essay, but it really does feel like a conspiracy!
Would have been helpful to identify the actual groundbait used given the profound effect it had on the results - I'm guessing it was Sonubaits Spicy Meat Method mix.???
Your not the only one with low confidence in corn there's a lot of anglers who struggle with it. But on its day its deadly when you get there heads down feeding on the shore pole its great because they don't seem to come off the bottom like they can do when your throwing meat or pellets so it keeps foul hooking to a minimum
