I would 100% always choose the Viltrox. As someone who owns over a dozen 28mm lens and loves them, I already have the Viltrox in my shopping cart at Amazon waiting for a sale. This Funleader lens uh... for the price, not so fun. If it was say $50 then it would be fun.
Love my Viltrox 28mm. Literally a joy carrying the camera and can't wait to travel with it...finally something that I can fit my A7RIII in my pocket with...
Viltrox is honestly killing it. I got the 75mm 1.2 on sale and I can’t believe how sharp it is. I am yet to find a filter that doesn’t degrade the sharpness of the lens, it’s kinda frustrating
For people who are considering the Viltrox, please note that the Viltrox is not compatible with the NEX lineup of Sony cameras. Yes, the NEX lineup is old, but photography is a hobby for me, so I never found the need to upgrade. I intended to use it as a fun point and shoot style lens, but it with it on, the camera wont boot. If you're looking to use it on an older camer just for fun, its worth it to know.
@@genericfpv2464 it is a MF lens, hence no electronics. Even if it is faulty it won't affect the camera. Maybe it touches the contacts and makes a short circuit, being all-metal, might have a tight fit...
@@robertosswald5896 The viltrox 28mm f4.5 is a pancake autofocus lens, I own one. It does full autofocus and doesn't even have a manual focus ring. Also if it was manual focus and had no electrical contacts as you said the only way to cause the camera issues is to short the pins.
@@pixxelpusher yep, I tried that! And it automatically shuts off. I checked on their website to see if there was an update that I needed to do for the lens, but at the very bottom, it states that the lens is not compatible with any NEX model.
Saw a mod where u tape an iphone anamorphic adapter over the front element of the viltrox, works because it's so small. Could work well on the funleader too, hopefully more small lenses come out that can take advantage of that mod! the results look surprisingly good...
A curious lens, indeed... Will not be going on my shopping list though, even if it looks like they sent you the APS-C version by all that vignetting! Great comparison, Arthur.
I won't say one has more character than the other, but in general, I do feel that sometimes that IS the point of a lens in general. Sharpness and flare isn't everything. I mean look at lenses like those from Lensbaby whose specialty IS special effects and sharpness is usually not the priority for some of their more creative lenses. Now I guess part of that is by choice/design obviously, so maybe not a good comparison but there is more to a lens than just sharpness.
f4.5 af cheaper price better sharpness viltrox is the clear winner here. except viltrox lens is not working with NEX cameras. I wanted to use it with my NEX 5T but it turns off the camera when attached. found the same issue on the internet. works well with a6700 and a7cii tho..
Arthur. Its okay to use strong language to express your opinions. Youre not going to help or please anyone by stating that theres any sort of real value comparison here. Those people on the sony vs viltrox video already have their minds made up. By avoiding speaking how you really feel, you lose the journalistic integrity i subscribed to you for. Trust your judgement. You will gain respect by being unafraid to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Cheers.

Always enjoy your videos. They are so informative and often I love you take on the product.
ow wow, a lens that makes Panasonic's recent option look good
LOL whoever thought these were comparable.... manual F/8 lens vs autofocusing lens...
Did you try the Funleader on an aps-c camera. Looks like a perfect fit.
The Viltrox being a 28mm lens is a fantastic walkaround lens. I have it paired with my Sony ZV-E1 and it's perfect!

Have you tried turning the camera on with no lens attached, and then attaching the lens?
I have never had any lens other than faulty ones cause a Sony camera to stop booting, are you sure you don't have a bad unit

Nice video man. Please make a comparison between the Viltrox 28mm and the TtArtisan 27mm F2.8.

Mr. Ding hello from your friend Miss Dong
I've just bought the Viltrox one and it's been a pleasure to use
A curious lens, indeed... Will not be going on my shopping list though, even if it looks like they sent you the APS-C version by all that vignetting! Great comparison, Arthur.
For 140 it's just mot justifiable for basicaly a disposable lens
If they actually made the quality worse with more imperfections they could sell it as a Holga style art lens. Maybe call it the Funleader LOLga

$139? They might want to try putting a decimal point somewhere in that price.
Have you ever thought of reviewing lenses for infrared converted cameras?
What a solid fight between two incredibly thin and affordable offerings. Thank you for this video!
Glad you liked it!
Funleader is $79.99 on eBay RN
Don't get me wrong it seems like it's a terrible lens but it seems to be made more for APSC than full frame. That vignette is horrendous.
Agreed. I think it'd be a better fit for a crop body.
Arthur doesn't have a thing for Mr. Ding...!
I think the 4.5 is better and cheaper.
Also 27 is better than 18
lost me at f8
f4.5
af
cheaper price
better sharpness
viltrox is the clear winner here.

The Funleader seems to be manual focus? No AF = no buy
I would like to replace my camera cap with this lens
Looks horrible. 20USD would be correct price for that lens. There's no competition with viltrox at all.
❤🎉

Please don't steal our time with such scrap.
Not comparable, it just sucks.
Same price, no autofocus, not sharp and terrible colors.
Oh, it`s an F8.
