The Paraguayan national team lost their coach after the 2011 Copa America. After that, he went to Argentinian team Newells Old Boys and THEN he went to Barcelona. Paraguay now has one of the best coaches of South America, River Plate legend Ramon Diaz. I truly believe we will be back at the 2018 WC.

Otherwise the linesman should’ve raised his flag immediately for Cardozo, not when Valdes got the ball. With VAR that goal would have been given.

I said implicitly. The amendment to the rule in short says that a player who was in an offside position and is involved in a play should be called offside. The example I presented in my previous comment is a good example of how it was usually called even when the offsides attacker didn't touch the ball

If Valdés' teammate had not jumped, the goal would have stood. It appears the assistant referee thought he flicked it back.
Even if he doesn't touch it, it's offside. The rule has always, though implicitly, been if the player goes for the ball. For example, if an attacker was offside and then that attacker is pressuring a defender before the defender even touches it, those are always called despite the fact that the attacker never touched it. The pressuring could cause a mistake. Good call by the linesmen here, because had Cardozo not jumped for it, then who's to say Busquets wouldn't have headed it away? Cheers

I said implicitly. The amendment to the rule in short says that a player who was in an offside position and is involved in a play should be called offside. The example I presented in my previous comment is a good example of how it was usually called even when the offsides attacker didn't touch the ball
