My brother was having a bad round and in his frustration he broke his golf club. While slamming it into the golf cart the fiberglass shaft stabbed him in the forearm deeply. Having some field triage experience I told him not to pull it out and he ignored me. So, I used a shoe string to create a tourniquet and we rushed to the ER. It was a sobering moment for him. Had that shaft hit him in the chest he would've been killed.

We have continuing education requirements to maintain our licenses. Years ago, I learned a new focus on the importance of keeping the patient warm . We had been keeping areas cool for our comfort, namely the OR. However, slightly raising the temperature in this area of patient care was found to calm their patient. Without this added stressor the patient got well quicker. I notice patients uncovered often in trauma. I will fold a warm blanket in half and cover 'stabIe' areas for comfort. I understand the need to be able to assess and have access to your patient, however, this one small thing can positively impact patient outcomes.

Doc said thats the hardest thickest part of the skull, and an inch lower we wouldnt be having this conversation. Massive headache for a couple of weeks, a lot of stitches and couldnt put my contact lenses in for awhile. The nose was bruised and had alot of swelling in the immediate area of impact. My husband hit a friend with a golf ball quite some time passed and his friend started to suffer from a detached retina. I only ask you to look up the signs for it and watch for those symptoms and get immediate help if needed. On a funny note do your know the difference between a golf ball and a G spot? Of course you don't. A man will look for a golf ball. 😁 Take care✌️♥️

I was a patient transporter at a hospital, had an ICU job I picked up to take a critical patient to get a Cat Scan😂, the lady we were transporting to CT was not doing good at all, on the way out of CT the nurses realized she was bleeding out into her extremities, one of the nurses was literally sitting on her to try to cut off the blood supply to her main artery in her leg and we needed to start CPR. I was running backwards with this team to make sure we made it to the OR in time to save her life. It did not work out the way I was hoping and I found out she didn’t make it the next day. One of the big things that made me really appreciate working in the healthcare field. Seven and a half years. And I miss it after I’ve left.

My 7 year old daughter was struck in the head with a golf club in 2007. My sister was watching my kids while I was at work and they were outside playing with a ball and a golf club. As my son went to hit the ball with the club, my daughter bent down to pick it up and instead of the ball he hit her head. He was 10 years old. She lost consciousness and they flew her by helicopter from the scene to children's hospital where she had to have surgery because the golf club had pushed a half dollar sized piece of her skull into her brain. Luckily she didn't have any lasting issues. She had what they believe was one seizure after the surgery and had to wear a protective helmet for a year afterwards to protect the area but fully recovered.

This golf club accident is a good reminder for those of us who throw our racquets after a bad racquetball shot. I admit I am guilty of this.🙁
When I was in my 20s I knew a woman who was a bit older and who worked as a substitute teacher for first-graders. One day, during a softball game, she got hit in the face with a baseball bat. I’m not sure if the bat caught her in mid-air, or if the batter child actually connected with her, but, boy, she was a mess. The injury was primarily to her mouth and teeth, many of which she lost. I felt sooo bad for her, she suffered terribly and had to constantly use painkillers. I’ll never know what the upshot of this was because we lost track of each other, but I always hoped she was able to move past this ordeal and have a successful life. Very sweet and kind person.
