5:46 "Torture is only beginning." That feels akin to some inspirational words of wisdom I once heard from a GM: "When you have mate in 1, look for better."
Love this series. Stonewall's gotten me from 900 to 1200 with an 80% win rate and I switched to d4 after it. I kept getting stuck in dubious positions in e4 and not having a clear plan of attack.
You'll give it all back the second stop playing the stonewall. I did the same thing with the kings gambit. Ran up my elo 300 points got to 1399 stop playing it and fell all the way back to 1100ish.
You mentioned getting to know the board. This opening ... I feel it gives me the opportunity to learn some attacking skills (and getting the pieces to harmonize) while occasionally still getting squished like a bug to better learn defense.
@@adamgorz9679 That's fine. Then you learn another opening that complements what you've learned playing the Stonewall. That's how you slowly build up a repertoire, and solidify your hold on the higher rating.
@adamgorz9679 Well yes... if you go back to playing dubious openings your ELO will certainly suffer. Although it's odd you would drop that much. I play the London and Sicilian Dragon but even when I'm playing free hand openings I can still hang around my normal ELO (~1500).
Once I was in Canada, on vacation; by chance I met Aman and Eric on the street, we chatted a bit and they invited me to their house, they said there would be a party, even with girls and good beer. I gladly accepted, and I prepared properly for the evening. However, once i got to their house, there was no girl, just an overabundance of "wurstel". And as for beer, no Stella Artois or Leffe, only poor beers... I proposed a few chess games (at least I was trying to make that evening at least acceptable) but they all said they didn't want to. I walked out, extremely disappointed in them... Don't trust these guys
I've been following this series since the beginning and have started playing the stonewall opening exclusively. Since then, my rating has gone all the way to 1200 (was 1500). I can't remember ever being this mad.
Great point on the respective dark-squared bishops in the Stonewall and London. Thanks for the reminder about ND7 at 09:36. You're seem to be really "on" today.
I learned the Stonewall on Chessable in a Course by Yaacov Norowitz and Elijah Logazar. Yaacov is an IM and has beaten many GM’s with it. However, he recommends a different version vs. KID type setups because of blacks fianchettoed bishop makes standard stonewall not as effective. But Aman just plays the basic stonewall vs. KID, and I must admit I like it better than what Yaacov says to play. It’s much easier to only have to learn 1 system. I just discovered his SW speedrun series and am loving it so far. I’ve watched Eric’s Hippo speedrun, but i must say I like Aman’s teaching style better. I’ve been trying to learn White Hippo and JOBAVA London for my 1.d4 opening, but I find Stonewall much easier to play as white.
My fav opening with my fav chess GM. Only edges out Eric because I feel like Aman does a better job explaining his moves. I find it harder to follow Eric’s play
I swear to god I never get these positions out of the opening. My opponents always play some weird shit I never see on your speedruns and I have no clue how to react properly. Im ~1400 rating. Ive only gotten your " dream position" a few times. feelsbad
Welcome to learning a new opening at the beginner or intermediate level. It’s very frustrating, because when your opponent plays something bizarre, you know it’s bad, but punishing opening inaccuracies is a very advanced skill, so you’re never able to properly punish it most of the time.
The most entertaining part of this is watching the opponents get destroyed after they notice his clock running low and just decide to win on time by playing fast and blundering.
Wait.. @9:56 - white kc6 is just taken by the black knight on g8, no? Then if he takes your bishop it gets eaten by the queen and he's just traded a knight and a bishop for a pawn and a bishop. I guess it messes up your pawn wall, but so what? I don't get it. (No doubt that's why I'm not a gm, lol.)
I always enjoy Aman playing with his food

I've learned more about the Stonewall in this video series than any opening lesson. Thanks Brah
These series are the best because it prepares you for what you will see in a game, and Aman's insights during play really help.

One time I blundered my queen. Aman and Eric hit me and called me stupid.

this quickly became my fav. chess series on yt. eagerly anticipating each wallstone video release. thanks Aman.
I love this series, I've been playing the stonewall all day today. Thanks Aman.
A stonewall video dropped today. It’s gonna be a good day.

Kader did a great job of putting pressure on the queen side.

The stonewall has allowed me to get free smokes and took 3 months off my sentence. Thanks brahs!

I get the same mate. Get all hyped up ready to smash the lines I know then the opponent plays completely differently 😭 lol

You don't see the stone wall used that much at these levels. It's interesting to see how many people straight up struggle with this opening.
i can pretty much never win with the stonewall at 600, hope these videos can level me up
Maybe watch the earliest videos from this series. Aman explains some ideas behind the stonewall in a very understandable way
OK... After the Dutch Defense and the London System... The Stonewall has a new fan
I appreciated that you didn't push the KO-button after the bfko3-opponent. 👍
just checked if there was a stonewall course in chessable... thank you Aman !

Yes you are right. But that would then mean that you can't develop your knight because you can't cut off the bishop which is annoying for black.
Anybody knows what's the song at 21:00?

@@TycoonMukTuB very much appreciated mate!!

Thanks!

Aman's brutality is increasing day by day!😂
They should nerf the stone wall, this wasnt in the patch notes
Lo esperaba con mucho interés. Gracias, Maestro- Un abrazo
It's stronger because were not using all the pieces😂😂
Well, thank you..
He missed mate in 1 right?
As black, is the stonewall bishop as bad as the French bishop?
Probably yeah lmao. It seems like it’s just an endgame piece.

Aman please play the birds opening for me pls❤
