- I went back to Deer creek to try some shore fishing at ice off. I ended up catching some nice browns. It was fun enough that I returned the following day with some friends
What an awesome video. Got into a ton of fish. Great job.
Thanks, it was a lot of fun
Can't wait to get up there. Moving to SLC in less than 2 weeks!
Oh nice! fishing at Deer Creek will probably have cooled off by then but you still have Jordanelle, Currant creek res and my fav ---Strawberry
Great video! What time usually is the ice off for Deer creek?
Around the first of March. It never completely froze over this year however
@@TroutHowler thanks so much!
Nice. I almost stopped there today but went to the Middle Provo instead.
I Never really do well on the middle as far as size goes unless it's just below the Jordanelle dam. Plus it always seems to be a zoo there, especially in Midway
Holy crap that’s a creek?! Looks like a small reservoir
Holy crap that’s a creek?! I have Never heard of that place
I thought I already responded but I guess not. I can't tell if you're joking or not. It's called Deer Creek reservoir. The Provo river which is extremely popular flows in and out of it.
TroutHowler ohh yea I know that place lol. There is a lot of creeks Named deer Creek And I was utterly shocked at the width of that “creek”. I am a idiot 😂
Ps, I’m pleasantly surprised if the quality browns that I didn’t know were in there
@@bridgerbowman489 Haha that's one massive creek.
Last year was a simpler time lol
So true! We've already had to change some planned trips due to the craziness
Just starting to get into stillwater. What (sink rate) flyline were you using?
I was a using a 10 ft intermediate sink tip on this particular trip. I have 5 spools for my 5wt Redington Behemoth reel---floating, 10 ft intermediate, 25 ft fast sink tip, full sink and a 6ft midge tip. I use the 25ft fast sink tip the most over all overall
@@TroutHowler Thank you for the info.
Again awesome video & scenery, what fly line where you using ? as far as handling the fish I always bring a net so I don't have to touch them at all,but great video,we all have mishandled a fish or 2,myself included
I was using an 10 ft intermediate sink tip line
@@TroutHowler have you ever used a Cortland Camo intermediate line the whole line has a slow sink rate & the drab color is great in gin clear water
@@Thebreadedfurflinger I actually have that very line on one of my 8wt spools-----It's good stuff. I rarely use it anymore however. For me sink tips are more practical. Unless you're fishing with a basket full sinking lines are a pain
Just got done watching a video by wish for fish and noticed you knew where the secret small stream was, is there any way you can let me in on where that is?
If you're catching fish like that in a spot as remote and beautiful as that looks treat the fish with more respect, Unhook 'e'm and get 'em back in the water right away, don't grab 'em with bare fingers and be squeezing them so you can hold 'em up for the camera, we can see 'em just fine.
Haha one of these guys. I don't know if I would consider it remote since the highway goes along the edge of it but that's besides the point. As far as our handling of the fish you are absolutely correct. Normally I bring a pneumatic T-shirt launcher like you see at sporting events to safely launch/release the fish a good 100 yards from shore. Unfortunately I forgot to bring it on this particular trip. Thanks for both watching and for the good laugh.
@@ubatool Hahaha, as you can probably tell, I enjoy trolling people that make idiotic comments. Probably not very mature of me to do so---but oh well 8)
