Sunset Off Roading with the Mutt Motorcycles Mastiff 250!

- I took the Mutt Mastiff 250 to an off road track that ends up being significantly harder than I though- pushing me to my (very limited) limit!
Green Laning (Green Lanes) are a network of legal off road, un made tracks that vehicles are legally allowed to ride/drive on. You'll notice that today's off road track has a "no car" sign at the start; this is quite common as this particular lane is too narrow for cars.

Hi Freddie, thanks for another great video and for all your Mutt reviews. I am a new subscriber and new to biking and love your channel. At the ripe old age of 51 I am about to do my CBT (should have bitten the bullet years ago tbh) ! Today I have ordered a 125 Mutt Mastiff in green! I can't believe I actually bought a motorbike! Your videos have convinced me. No other 125 compares. I can't wait! My dream is to get a big Triumph one day but you gotta start small ! Phil, North Wales.
From a fellow mutt owner. Please make sure you check your bolts weekly, things tend to quite literally fall off. How do I know? well. My muffler came loose on the A2. Not fun. Among other things the like the shifter, mirrors. They are cheap, cheerful but cheap.
Already the left sidepod is hanging off as one of the moulded pins which holds it in olace has snapped off! Dunno how as have hardly ridden it! A warranty job i suppose
Great video! Beautiful scenery. Just bought the Mutt Mastiff. Pick it up Wednesday. Can't wait !
This is simply great, Freddie! The Mastiff isn't only beautiful but also capable in of road. I was impressed when I saw the fuel tank capacity... 17 l (4.5 gallons) is almost incredible. I think if offers an incredible range combined with that small engine. This video is another solid evidence for the fact that people shouldn't spend a huge amount of money for riding their dreams.
So glad you enjoyed it, thanks Mihai! It does about 140 miles to a tank, which is as much (if not a bit more) than my Bonneville- really incredible!
I couldn't agree more; simple, great value transport and biking doesn't have to cost a lot!
@@FreddieDobbs Hi Freddie! Thans for answering. I guess does more than 140 miles on normal roads. I'm thinking about tha fact that it has the same fuel tank capacity as a 850 GS with a much smaller enigine. Wish you all the best!
@@mihaimihai9254 Wow- the same as a GS! Agreed, I think on the motorway, or even around town, it'd be even more.
Thanks Mihai🙂
@@FreddieDobbs 😊👍
Hats off to you Freddie, I’m not a great off roader either, so very impressed you went back down that hill.
Another excellent motorcycle review/vlog, with genuine thoughts and remarks on the motorcycles he rides. It is people like Freddie that truly keep the spirit of motorcycling alive in the modern day. Makes me want to pick up a camera and start filming too!
Great stuff brother, keep them coming!
That means a lot, thank you so much Elliott!🙌🙌
Great stuff Eddie, as always.
Bloody awesome Freddie... I've been looking for my first bike and I'm convinced, I'm gonna get the Mutt Mastif 250...
Thanks so much buddy :)
Wow you and Monica are giving the established vlogers a run for their money with your prolific output while maintaining quality across a wider spectrum of what interests viewers. Cheers Gary from the Toon 😀
Thanks Gary, we’re getting into the swing of it and absolutely loving it!😃
Very nice simple bike. They should bring it to the US
That exhaust note sounds exactly what a 2000s Honda CRF250 sounded like (which is a huge compliment.)
Freddie, you're an engaging and informative vlogger. 'Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing. I'm hoping we can get Mutt motos here in the USA soon. You're the first vlogger I've seen on one. Their DRK-01 looks great too.
Hello Mr. Dobbs. Very good video about your experience with a nice lightweight bike. I saw also your video with the nice Triumph - but much to heavy for off road. And the sense of these tests: A lighter bike makes much more fun ;-) (Sorry for my english-I`m german). Thx a lot for this video and I`m now a new subscriber......Regards from germany, stay healthy and be curious.
Thanks so much, delighted you enjoy the channel!🙂. You're so right- lightness is everything. The little Mutt got up the hill with no problem!
Hey 3years later what’s your opinion of this bike? Any regrets?
Gotta say Freddie when I saw that slope and the big rut running down it I was expecting the next section to be about how durable the Mutt is when you drop it, nice riding there. Have to agree the great thing about these bikes is how they make you feel when channeling the inner Steve McQueen us retro boys have, very cool! Another top presentation, keep 'em coming mate
Thanks very much Rushy! I almost turned back when I saw the steep slope, but I realised there was no other way out!😆
@@FreddieDobbs it was impressive stuff, I'm a Steve myself, I'm just lacking the "McQueen" bit 🤷🏻♂️ ps. I've just bought a Garibaldi Jacket after watching your T120 video, this channel is seriously starting to cost me money matey 🤨🤣
@@rushy67rr97 Haha fantastic!😆
Really glad you liked the Garibaldi jacket- you'll love it! 🙂👌👌
You've got a voice for radio mate. Not often you come across people with such distinct voices.
He has a podcast on Spotify called "Freedom Machines" so you could say he does do radio in a way.
Another good video! Keep them coming. I really like how genuine, honest and excited you are about riding.
Really appreciate the support, thanks Dennis! I do get a bit over excited!😆
That climb was just ace, enjoyable viewing for a wishful thinker.
When you did the decent, I thought I was watching the C90 adventures again. You were making "manly noises". Lol
You have convinced me, so going to see some tomorrow 😊
A very interesting bit of off roading, so cool you had the place to yourself and at sunset too makes it very picture perfect indeed. Another great video perfect for a Sunday morning with a cuppa. I'm amazed that jacket is a biking jacket with padding, would have fooled me!
Still think you are the only person to make an open face helmet look good! Catch you soon
It's almost always dead here, which is amazing!
It's a super stealth jacket- very good for warmer rides.
Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks Jack!🙂
Didn't think you'd tackle the hill Freddie, looked like you eyed one up just beforehand and decided against it,well done😄👍🏻👍🏻
I almost bottled in on both (well spotted regarding my first bottling!😆), but I didn't know of any other way out!😂
Seriously you need to get Monika to do some voice overs with her thoughts on riding pillion on these bikes your borrowing. Great little vlog Freddie👍. Ride safe.
That's a great shout, I'll see if I can get Monika to agree to it!😆
I completely forgot to mention the pillion comfort on the Mutt!
Cool looking motorcycle! Great video and presentation!
Cheers!
Really appreciated, thank you!🙂
What a Great video ! Funny, informative, scenery, edited well, I believe you know what you’re doing sir ! Looking forward to seeing the next creative endeavor 👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I envy your green lanes. Wish we had that in Germany. Herzliche grüsse.
Hi Freddie, that was exciting! Now you are off-road specialist 👍 I enjoyed your video very much.
Best, Alex
So glad you enjoyed it! I'm not a great off roader, but I am an enthusiastic off roader!😆
Thanks Alex!
Awesome review thanks for sharing from Australia
Really enjoyed that video! Excellent job selling that mutt! If I could own more than one bike I would put in my order right now. Like the idea of going off road and the versatility. I'm not going to do that with my 260kg Deauville.
That'd be quite the pair! It really is a very fun bike for off roading. I'd like to see the Deauville trying out some tracks!😆
very well said Freddie : priceless ! how does the suspension feel in the dirt ?
Those shoes though 😅 Good choice for off-roading 😂👍🏼
Wow how different that track looks compared to when you took the triumph down it, looks like a great little bike, certainly a bit easier than the big Triumph!!
Grreat video, as usual. Facts, the feel and something undefined. Perhaps the lifestyle stuff at the side? Anyway you got a unique blend in your videos I just appreciate amongst all the hysterical wheelies and top spec´s. A relaxing vibe. Keep up the good work!!!!!
Since you did the Livewire, how about the Energica EVA Ribelle and the Zero offerings compared to the HD? Would be interesting. Yes, the Mutt has serious Husqvarna vibes going on!
Oh, and image the Mutt with a 500-600cc engine!
Really glad you're enjoying the videos!
I didn't know about the Energica- I just had to google it. They look incredible! I'll try and get some more electric bikes as it'd be great to compare the LiveWire to something!
Ooooooh, the Mutt with a 500cc would be incredible!💪🏼
Well you certainly put that Mutt through its paces :) Fun!
It was incredible fun- I tried my best to push it to the limit (or my limit, at least!😆)
They were really loud. My Herald 125 was too loud for arriving at my job at a dairy after 10pm. I had to fit baffles.
Freddie… I’m so torn at the moment, what are your thoughts on the Mutt for a daily commuter bike? ( reliability as being basically Chinese) I’d get the 125cc as it’s purely for a journey to and from work and maybe a spin through the lanes on occasion. HELP PLEASE I’m seriously keen to buy one but i’m hearing reliability isn’t great.
That bike looks like serious fun!
hey man, I'm from Brazil and i love your videos
Thanks so much Fernando, so glad you're enjoying them all the way over in Brazil!🙂
Another great one! Good job Dobbs.
Thanks Renjith!🙂
Hey Freddie what is the phone chest strap thingy you use? I’m interested in capturing some of my rides but don’t fancy sticking a great lump of a GoPro to the side of my helmet. I’m already looking to buy a quad lock wireless mount. Great content bud! 👍🏻👍🏻
I very highly recommend the Quad Lock mounts- they're game changing bits of kit! The phone strap is just a simple £15 strap of Amazon (it works very well)🙂
@@FreddieDobbs thanks. I’ll check it out 😀
Another great vid bro! Looks like a fun little bike! you and I have the same "tall people" problem.
Appreciate it, it's incredibly fun! Haha, very true!😆
I love the growly sound of the muffler. I really want the Mastiff but now wondering if I am too short to touch the ground at 5'2' :(
granted, still waiting for Mutts to come stateside which is supposed to happen in 2022
Hi Cheryl,
5’6 is probably the limit for this bike- I think you’d find the Mutt too tall (it’s a surprisingly high seat height!). The Harley Sportster and Royal Enfield Bullets would be a great fit for you at 5’2!🙂
Cuffed you taken the bike offroad going to get my full license this year really fancy the 250 coz of the longer wheel base thanks for the grate vid
Really glad you liked the video! It's such a fun bike on and off road- you'll love it!
Hi Freddie, love your videos. I was wondering whether the mutt is comfortable enough for a pillion passenger.
Hi Nico, yes it is- up to 20-30 minutes:)
Were you walking it up that hill?
Hello Freddie! I just discovered your channel and it has been a great watch so far. Your videos are unique in comparison to other motorcycle journalism channels.
I'm from India and would appreciate it if you would consider trying out and sharing your views on the royal Enfield continental GT 650 and the royal Enfield interceptor 650 - both a unique combination of ingenious British engineering and Indian manufacturing muscle.
Love your work so far and looking forward to more. Cheers!
Thanks so much, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel!
The Interceptor’s one of my absolute favourite bikes!🏍🖤
I’ll try and book the REs in for a UA-cam video as i’m a huge fan!
Thanks for the support🙂🙌🏻
Everyone in U.K. seems to love them and can’t fault them , but I’ve read many comments from people in India saying the royal Enfields sold in India are not as well made as the ones sold in Europe, don’t know if it’s true ? . I have a royal Enfield bullet and love it , but would love the interceptor. 🙏🍻
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video video Thanks
You look like Paul Bettany lol. Great vid
A rare and very shy Monica spotted in the wild today.
Does anyone have David Attenborough's phone number?
🤣🤣🤣
The wrong shoes eh Freddie!
Which boots to wear off roading on the Mutt? Hmm, gotta look good so I'll take the suede Italians :)
What's the 0-60 like on these 250s? Good enough to keep up with traffic comfortably? 👍
I don't know the 0-60, but it's quick enough to keep up with traffic. It'll do 70mph all day and overtake lorries. I did 600 miles in a week on it- it's good!🙂
@@FreddieDobbs cheers for responding
Unexpected mid week Mutt action, nice one Freddie, where was that location looked bloody lovely for a bit of off-road in the evening after work on a nice light bike,
It's Calfstock Lane in Dartford- it's an extremely good off road area and challenging (if you're a novice like me!)
@@FreddieDobbs Cheers buddy not too far from me either, all I needs a Mutt!
@@badshotuk72 Pleasure!🙂
What’s with your LH thumb twitch Freddie?
Very nice
Love your videos, definitely a gentleman with class 🍻
You looked like Steve McQueen on the Mutt. Like a flat tracker
Thank you!!:)
Did you enjoy your great escape?
Absolutely LOVED it!😃
I really want one but I’m gonna have to wait
They're brilliantly fun bikes!
Make your channel more powerful. Bring Monika into the frame!
Very good shout- I've shown Monika this because I am trying to get her more into the videos (I'll get there but it's a slow process😆)
Nice Clark’s love it
Well spotted!😆
This bike really looks like Philippines' Rusi Classic 250.
Nice video! Thanks
I recognise that sludge burning power station? Belvedere. I’m from Plumstead.
Spot on!😀
Mr Brother did some plastic pipe welding when they built it.
Why does the indicator cancel need pressing constantly :o?
If they ever make a new version of The Great Escape!
I'll be ready and waiting!😆
Would this be comfortable for someone who is 6ft 3?
Yep! It's actually got a fairly high seat height (noticeably taller than my Bonneville), so you will be absolutely fine🙂
Is it really necessary to ride bikes in beautiful and quiet woods? Woods are for walking, in my opinion
Been pretending to be Steve McQeen for the last 40 years and never quite got away with it.
Maybe I need a Mutt
Just 10 years of pretending to be McQueen for me! A Mutt may be the answer!😆
Is there an issue with bike security, live in a residential cul de sac
You should be fine so long as you lock it👌🏻👌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs double lock it, front and back wheels, ......visible deterrent.
you are so cool
