Awesome 👍. I saw on Craigslist a rear PTO kit for my 1974 John Deere 110 but it was $700. Which I think is crazy for that price because I can buy a 540 PTO kit for my John Deere X575 for only $200 more.
Where is a good place to find the parts to put a rear pto on a 420? We dont see a lot of these tractors down here in the south so something like this is really not seen much at all but I need a pto to run a tiller.
A direct drop in 540 gear box, no they did not. However, Peerless did make a 540 rpm gear box for a utility vehicle. If I’m thinking right AM134155 is the part number. They do come up for sale from time to time but they are expensive! If you fine a NOS one you have to shorten the output shaft. There are several threads on WFMachines.com and other forums with pictures etc. I had a couple and sold them over the last couple years.
Is there still hydraulic power to the lift functions and steering? If there is no hydraulic power at all, the pin on the shaft that holds the pump gear in place has most likely sheared. If there is still hydraulic function the issue is probably I. The hydrostatic linkage or the differential.
Did the release lever get bumped? It's under the right fender well pull it out and twist to release hydraulics to tow, the valves often will stick in released position, they take some delicate probing to get free. Hope that's all it is.
Avid watcher. It would be nice if you recorded start to finish the projects. I want to install a PTO on my 88 JD 318 . You did the same thing on the 1100 generator and so on.. I for one would like to go on the journey with you. Think about it. You are giving us how to videos and you have a eBay store. Its benefiting you to give us limited edited videos.. Your already doing the work...don't stop the camera
Thanks for the feedback, I will certainly keep that in mind. In the past when I have done longer videos the views and the length of view times goes down substantially. I have a couple 30+ minute videos and the average view time is less than 3 minutes. Meanwhile if I work hard and keep them short the average view time can be 6-7 minutes. I will see what I can do moving forward, just never seemed like my viewers wanted the 30-50 minute videos some of the other channels make. Thanks again for the feedback. I don't know unless someone says something.
@@mmrbeef just found you on UA-cam. I got a jd332 that ive just barn found and will need your help. Is there anywhere else you post? Website facebook etc.etc

Wow, that is pretty high for a PTO kit for a SF. Normally those run in the $150-200 range for the 540 PTO.
@@mmrbeef Yes it is. Where did you get that red quick hitch that you installed on your John Deere 455?

Cool video! Do you know we’re I can buy those front tires? Thanks
Is it the same parts on a 420?
Where did you get the PTO from and what starts and shuts it off?
Did they make a 540 gearbox for the 318?

Have you had one of those rear pto gear boxes apart if so do you know what the torque spec is for the bolts around the case
I cannot find any torque specs in the manual. Being a cast case I would say 20-30 ft lbs, but that's a guess only
@@mmrbeef ok thank you
My 318 has lost forward and reverse gears after I bumped a stump with the deck. Have you ever heard of this
