  • After another few months of work, I had to retire my old hotpoint washing machine.
Repaired it 6 months ago by changing the bearings, but once again waking the neighbours up.
The bearings have failed again and it is simply worn out.
Before the Samsung machine arrives I thought I'd finally tile the bear concreat floor.
This space is actually an old shed built onto the side of the house. But tiles are needed to make it a little more practical for keeping the washer and dryer in it.
No fancy tools here, it's only a shed, so a grinder for cutting and I trowel for adhesive.
Floor actulay turned out quite good and the new Samsung machine is now crazy quite compared to the rock tumbler hotpoint that it replaced.

I’ve watched a lot of your videos but this is the best. I had a recent incident with my dyer- wouldn’t heat. Saw a UA-cam video, ordered a $20 part and fixed it myself . Thought the same as you, “$20 sure beat $500”.

Interesting to see how other households are set up around the world. Here in America most homes have a separate laundry room INSIDE their heated and air-conditioned home with HOT and cold water. My wife actually wanted to relocate the laundry by putting a stackable unit in our bedroom closet as 90% of the laundry comes from our room (no kids). Showed her your laundry and she laughed out loud with gratitude as she does NOT have to carry laundry outside in the weather to some unheated shed with no hot water. So, thank you, as she is now perfectly happy to have the laundry room where it is!

Yes you are fortunate. Consider most washing machines in European apartments are in the kitchen no dryer no ac either in most places. Still people around the world live with a lot less than that.

Excellent machine, had one getting up I for three years and no probs, tells you when to clean out the sump bit and as you say nice and quiet instead of the whole house shaking 😂 all the best for 24 and look forward to more educational tool vids, tradesman 52 years on the 3rd and I’ve learned more from your site in the last few months than in all that time. Great content and instructional. Helped me with my Hikoki framer and various Makita problems. Thank you. 👍

Pour some water on the feet for it to slide easily. Put a leveling spade on the top and it has 4 adjustable legs.

We have that same washer but in white and we had that same reaction when it first turned on 😂 we went from a VERY noisy hotpoint also

I have a Samsung top load washer. The only thing I hate about it is the time it takes to actually wash the clothes.

Hopefully that Samsung machine treats you well because some of the Samsung appliances are absolutely shocking quality.

Get a Miele. Its the cheapest as they never break (stated by Which magazine) and new models come with 25 year warranty. We bought one as moving home (buyer wanted the white goods) and our old one broke 3 weeks before completion (Zanussi/Electrolux). Buyer pulled out so we took all the white goods. Our preloved miele, broke April 2020, middle of lockdown & easter holidays and my wife works in a hospital, and needed to decontaminate clothes before entering home. (I see now you bought one - oh well, next time). Miele engineer called, said machine was from 1990 and could be repaired no issue but could not get parts timely from Germany and they offered to offset repair cost plus discount against new machine. I sold old machine for £50 for parts and it was purchased for £120 fitted too.

Miele can last 25 years without break down if you barely use it.Schulthess (Switzerland) makes best.

the problem with mieie is if it breaks down and you live, say 35 miles away from an approved miele engineer they won't drive that distance to fix it, i didn't have the big warranty

@tdimccullough we didn't have any warranty and they drove 50 Mile to us for a repair or money off a new machine

Is it ok to install washing machine in unheated shed? Do you drain water from it before every frost?

Top loading washing machines aren't really a thing In the UK/Ireland ( Don't know about Europe but I think they are the same). Everyone uses a front loader. Top loading seems to be an American thing
