The old Francesca was more outspoken and opinionated about Lady Whistledown among other matters. The new one is gorgeous but they tried to make her look like a mini version of Daphne. The viewers are not given enough time with old Francesca, she is mostly absent throughout season one. But when she is in the room, you know she is there because she is vibrant.

What I don't understand is why they changed the fact that Daph and Simon had 3 girls before getting their boy in the books. Such a tiny inconsequential detail! The baby could have been their first girl and it changes nothing about the show and stays true to the source material
