The chemistry that Luke and Nicola have is incredible.
Yes, and that should have translated better on screen but I don’t feel the season lived up to the chemistry they have in real life. Most everything about season 3 fell flat. Colin and Pen didn’t feel like true leads this season because all the attention was drawn elsewhere in other subplots. It’s truly a darn shame!!!

Yes, such great chemistry! And of course they are passionate, yet they show so much tenderness towards each other. So much caring. The first two relationships were fantastic, but this one is just... beautiful.
I love it when Luke said having the lead roles this year was a full circle moment as the evolution of their characters matched their evolution as actors and friends.❤

These two had so much love and passion for their characters only to be sidelined as supporting casts in their own season.. I think that’s why Netflix went all down with promoting just to entice viewers. Their chemistry on and off screen is unparalleled. Nicola is a gem
I love Penelope soo much and the way Nicola represented her was incredible. I loved her story in this season.
I have such an overwhelming sense of ambivalence for Season 3. Penelope and Colin are my faves and I was so very excited for them to move to the forefront. And while there were some beautiful moments for them, I walked away feeling like the characters didn't really get the season they deserved. There were way too many moving parts in Season 3. Period. I watched the entire thing as soon as it was available, and at the end of it I couldn't shake the feeling I'd missed something. So I gave it several days and circled back, rewatched, and still had the same feeling. So I watched Season 1 and Season 2 (and Queen Charlotte too!) and I knew for sure I wasn't imagining it. I haven't seen or heard a compelling argument to sway me from the opinion that Penelope and Colin were very obviously shortchanged when their love story is held up against the leads of the other seasons. I realize it's a waste of energy and effort to try and express these sentiments now because the production team's focus has moved on. But still, it needs to be said. Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton did an exceptional job with what they were given. Just wish it had been more.
Perfectly expressed in written form. I felt bereft and unable to articulate my feelings for this storyline in S3. I did what you did as well. Rewatching all 4 stories and still feeling short changed for Colin and Penelope.
This season was so amazing. I really loved it. I had watched s1 out of curiosity when it came out, and it was okay I guess, but then I didn't really think too much about it until I saw that s3 had premiered. I think I saw something or another about s2, but wasn't interested in watching it. When s3 arrived and I saw the posts on twitter I was so curious about it. I loved the characters of Colin and Pen in s1 so I really wanted to watch their story unfold. I watched s2 so I wasn't completely lost and got into s3 quickly, and I'm afraid I never left. I'm rewatching it because it was so good.
I'm specially thankful for Luke and Nic and how their amazing chemistry made everything come together and work magically. This was, undoubtedly (to me) the best season so far. I'm not sure how other seasons are going to live up to it, but I'm READY for more Polin, even if it's only on the background.

This season is my favorite so far. I’ve connected so much with each leading lady. Shonda has such a way of storytelling that pulls the heart in ❤ can’t wait for season 4. I’m almost done with book 4, feel like book five and Francesca’s storyline will break my heart and I’m actually looking forward to it ❤😂❤

Just incredible, took me over an hour to watch and really soak it in. There is so much love and tenderness here from Luke and Nic and for their craft. Feels like they’re just hanging out and having a good time ❤

Reading the book was a rollercoaster of emotions, watching it materialize on screen was incredible, I felt so hard for them, I enjoyed very much watching Colin pursue Pen and realize he was in love, I got angry with him for being so harsh on Pen, I cried with Pen when Colin was cold and distant. I don't have a favorite scene because I can't choose. Now whenever I re-read their book I will picture Nicola and Luke and I love it.

Hope we get goofy pregnant polin next season- more of what we missed in s3. So excited for more of these two❤
Nicola and Luke’s natural chemistry is everything! Just wish season 3 had a little more of them as opposed to side storylines . Previous seasons main couples seemed to get more screen time then this one. Definitely hoping we’ll see a good amount of them next season at least…

wooow!! 🥹 anyone else just find themselves grinning for a whole 13 minutes and 25 seconds??? i always love getting to see more nicola and luke, but it's also super cool to see just how much work and how many steps you have to go through just to get one look down and OKed! and then also seeing all the bts with where the cameras are placed and all the background actors--its so cool to see! because when you are watching the show it really truly just feels so real. like the entire world of bridgerton feels so real! so it's like weird to see the background actors, polin, and then a whole bunch of cameras and crew!

With these two to have this much chemistry in real life, (which both have said in interviews- the past was repressing our chemistry) why wouldn’t you want to try that in real life? Just my opinion. Don’t waste it, jump in and see

They ruined the next with Gay storyline. Yes there are gay people, but why change the book so much? I’m not interested in that storyline..
it's interesting how you only seem to remeber that this was supposed to be polin season is when you use luke, nicola, and the huge fanbase for promo. the way you erase their love story by either cut their scenes or not write it all is disrespectful in a whole new level. they derserved so much better, the fans deserve better. Why did you move their season foward? was that because your writers wanted to get it done and focus in the stories they really care about? If it was for you to do just the bare minimum i'd rather wait another 2 years to have it done properly. You are so lucky Luke and Nicola are so wonderful they managed to do wonderful with the 2 scenes you gave them. Do bettrer.
Are you saying that you only care about sex scenes? Do better would mean more sex or which two scenes are the only ones you like?? Then you did not understand Colin and Penelope's story at all. There are so many lovely, fun or deeply emotional scenes with Nikola and Luke and they are very proud of their work. As they should be, as they worked intensely on their characters and their story, we can see and feel the love they have for their story.
@@inLmgb oh, I do understand their story, but the writers don't. You have the right to your opinion. But the script didn't honor Colin and Penelope's love story in mine (and so many people's) point of view. It is not about sex scenes. It is about allowing them to be fully happy, allowing Colin to public support and love and adore his wife. It is about those lovely, fun scenes you talked about to not have sorrow in it's undertones. And with "two scenes" I am pointing the lack of screen time and that it doesn't matter if they hade some gorgeous dances or a cute epilogue if their pregnance was not adressed instead of the showrunner giving an interview telling when she thinks it happened - it only demonstrates her lack of care and responsability when writing. If you think what we saw is polin in it's full glory... Well, it was not. And last, I am not criticising the hard work and care Luke and Nicola have for this characters and their story for about half a decade, I am criticising the shows writing. That is one my points, they deserve better then what the writing gave them. Do better means the writers should believe in Polin when writing it.
@@MariaLuisa-bo5hl OK, I understand that you exaggerated by mentioning only "two scenes" because you wanted to make a point, and when you say you understand their story, but the writers don't, it's also just one way to view things.
I agree with you and many others that some other storylines could have been cut or shortened to give Penelope and Colin maybe 5 more minutes of screen time. And believe me, I would have written in some lovely, heartwarming and tender scenes, added some explanatory sentences here and there, and I would have done a different, less angst-ridden storyline after their chance meeting on the street at night (which was a fabulous scene and so well acted by both). I loved that book and the different time line there, but decided to let it go before the show came out. It is a different form of storytelling since the siblings' stories have to be woven together.
I have listened to pretty much every interview and snippet of Luke and Nicola talking about working on their story and their performance. They obviously spent more time on it than the rest of us, already over the last five years. While I may have been a little disappointed here and there on my first viewing, overall I understand the arc of the story as it was built. And after watching the original several times (although leaving out Ben's story, I feel no connection there) and watching hundreds of great fan edits on UA-cam, I am quite happy with the season.
I do believe that the reason Nicola was cast as Penelope first and Luke as Colin shortly after Claudia is that Penelope as LW and now Penelope Bridgerton is the thread that is going to be the heart and center of the whole Bridgerton story. They will continue to be main characters in each season, and - as long as both are free to film as much as they do - they will have plenty of time together in the future. The writers have given them a chance for a little more drama than most of us would have liked in season 3, but now that they are happily married, we will see Colin happily loving and adoring his wife, and he will continue to stand up for her in every way possible. Some of the scenes of marital bliss that we missed from the book will be transferred to next season. I look forward to him traveling with his brothers, only to be miserable and miss his beloved Penelope 🥰 As long as the writers don't mess up their future involvement, I'm ready to come along, but mostly for Pen, Colin, Kate, and Anthony. Oh, well, Violet and Lady Featherington too (I've really grown to like her), Lady Danbury, Eloise, and the two youngest, I guess.
@@inLmgb don't get me wrong, I am more than happy that they'll come back. And I am not that purist that I want them to follow the book line by line. I do understand what they chose to do with the season but I am still dissapointed, and don't agree with it. You can make changes in a material while still being true to the charcters and I don't believe the writers did a good job at that. That doesn't make me less of a fan. We shouldn't have to wait for next season for something that is pevital to their relationship nor try to convince ouselfs that it was good. But I do agree with you that Luke and Nicola gave BEAUTFUL AMAZING WONDERFUL performances. All the actors did great.
Too bad all the extraneous storylines (Mondriches move Polin story ahead how? Violet, why? Cressida's interrupted arc) and disjointed storytelling/straying from their lovely novel and Colin's creative writing purpose was lost to political and social agendas outside the Quinn fantasy. This was the best in the series, but Shondaland broke it and can't give us a do-over. Luke and Nic's chemistry as friends was a wasted gift. (Their press work was better than the writing.) He got married feeling trapped and angry, and Pen was afraid for their future. Such a terrible thing to do to a love story that was much better in the book. No bed for virgin Pen, even once, when everyone else gets beds? Terrible choices. I won't go on, as it is all over the internet. I hope you are regrouping so you can restore the joy of Regency love before you film the next season, unless you are satisfied with a smaller audience. Think about your numbers. Can you want less for season four?
In a world full of fake smiles, in which people seem to lose their ability to truly connect with others, we are desperately in need of role models who remind us of the few things that truly count in live: trust, respect, genuine interest in others, gratitude and, most of all, love. Thank you Nicola, and thank you Luke, for showing us what it feels like to be appreciated and seen by another person. How it makes one shine and blossom. You are what Polin stands for: soulfulness, warmth and eternity. 🔥🧡💙💫💖🔥

I could watch Nicola/Luke and Pen/Colin nonstop. The actors are as delightful as their characters. I hope Sholandaland takes note for the future seasons and adds them as much as possible. I said it before, but I’d love to see a friendship blossom between Pen and the Queen. I want them to have what Pen and Lady Danbury had in the book. And I want Nicola and Luke to head up all the PR. Together.
There is so much Lady Whistledown could do in future seasons, this season we saw Polin fight their way to be accepted and accept themselves, there was lots of drama in their story, now we would love to see them really thriving in this society, we would love to see them happy as a couple and as individuals

the polin arc has been a beautiful, romantic, angst filled rollercoaster from beginning to end, it has been such a joy to watch these two beautiful characters fall in love. thank you bridgerton and thank you luke and nicola🫂💕

Regardless of any critiques I’ve expressed of how S3 was handled, Nicola and Luke were hands down the reason I was excited to watch and root for Polin this season. Credit to Shonda for seeing the potential in these actors, and all without a chemistry read!
The wedding dance was my favorite scene in Part 2 so huge credit also to Jack Murphy for choreographing. I was thrilled when Nicola released the full clip of them dancing on Instagram because they really do move beautifully together and it was a great summary of what seems to be a wonderful relationship between them these last 5 years.
Once their roles in Bridgerton are officially over, or maybe before, I hope people will seek them out for other major roles. I’m glad to see Nicola already getting great opportunities. They seem like genuinely likeable people who take their craft seriously and to dedicate 6 months to a world PR tour, while being so sweet and patient with the more passionate fringes of the fan base, is also incredibly impressive.
If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll see them grace the screen together again in the future, with hopefully better storytelling and directing (no offense). It doesn’t even have to be a romantic story, though I did love the rom-com elements, the willow tree scene being my favorite from Part 1. But I’d also love to see them playing characters wildly different from Polin, as I imagine they would too, and clearly they have the chemistry and acting chops to pull it off.
Either way, I wish nothing but the best for them in their future endeavors and I’m just glad that hopefully now in S4 we’ll just see Polin happy, no more unnecessary excessive angst, but let me not go there...

100% I could have them on my screen 24/7 all season long and a would have lapped it up like a puppy. As it stand their scenes are the only ones on repeat for me. I have liked the previous couples but not to this level they bring me in like magnets. I had an inkling when I saw them in the first 2 season that they would capture my heart if they were to be coupled (at that point I had not read the book) and they got me hook line and sinker. They have the type of chemistry that really draws me in.

Season 3 served…was it perfect no….nothing extra episodes or a longer run time per episode wouldn’t have fixed….but it was a beautiful romantic love story. Of which Nicola & Luke were out standing in.

Second that 100%! Nicola and Luke carried this season, and although I would have loved to have at least 5 minutes more screen time for them, it works well for me given their story development in seasons one and two. If you look back and put the puzzle pieces together (and many great fan edits on UA-cam are quite good at it), it shows a story arch that works for me. We will see more of them and lovely scenes of marital bliss in season 4!! If only it would not take two years to get there...
In my mid thirties now and had thought fan girling like a teenage over a book and a tv show was not gonna happen to me, till Luke and Nichola came as the leads of the S3 of Bridgerton. Love their authenticity and genuineness. They reminded me that this world still has genuine and talented people who are also down to earth. I want them to be in each others lives forever. Shondaland did the best with S3. I am thrilled and thrilled. Love them so much.
Nicola and Luke did an incredible job. Got very little to do with the book by part 2, but it's it's own story and they were fabulous. Still wish we'd have Luke saying: “I love you for the children we’ll have and for the years we’ll have together. I love you for every one of my smiles, and even more, for every one of your smiles.” Even without the whole speech from the book, that line works for the show too.
So true. I let go of the storyline of the book before the series came out, but that incredibly beautiful love declaration should definitely have been added to Luke's speech!
This is one of the most beautiful things Colin says in the book, if not the most beautiful. I nearly cry when I read it. It should have been there.
I’m hoping that it will be added to S4 in some capacity. Because you know those two will be all lovely in the next season too.
Nicola and Luke have such amazing chemistry in all of these press and bts interviews, i honestly think we only got 50% of that in the series due to severe lack of Polin screen time! Feels like such a waste, we could have had so much more of this beautiful pair in the show. I really need them to give me sweet and happy Polin scenes next season as well, please!
I literally couldn't love anyone any more. It's ridiculous how much joy they are bringing into my life. They are the best. The way they get their characters and talk about Pen and Colin warms my cold, cynical heart. ❤

Polin are the heart of the Bridgerton story 💛 I hope they keep bits with Jonny and Simone and Luke and Nicola throughout the rest of the seasons. They are wonderful actors who have created such fun characters and bring a lovely energy to the show. Plus it’d be great to see how those couples develop. Some happiness and fun amongst all the drama!

We will never forgive Jess, Shonda and all of you if you don't bring the Polin couple in every episode of B4. If there was room for Colin and Marina in season 1, there is certainly a lot of room for Colin and Penelope in B4. don't let us down😭💔

Best Bridgerton couple ever! They were so sizzling hot - I felt like I was intruding on a real first time.
I think it wasn't handled well, the fighting and his negativity to her WENT ON TOO LONG...and then rushed FINAL EPISODE of she had a baby??? The CLIFFHANGER COULD HAVE BEEN THE TWO sisiters pregnant still and PEN announcing she is pregnant! First next episode we see she had the boy!
It just felt TOO RUSHED...too much of Benedict and his threesome GOT TIRING. Also I know it's not historically accurate- I love the fantasy and evne loved Pens hair but at the same time read that hair down like that would be considered harlot...too loose, a loose woman. and since so much of the joy of the show is the tension of the times and the restrictions and rules...I wish they hadn't gone wiht a 1940's Harlowesque hair.

I love hearing Nicola’s Irish lilt. It’s so charming. They are adorable together, onscreen and off. I hope they both take some time off though, they have done so much press for this season, they must be completely wiped out.
I always loved them and waited for their scenes in season 1&2. Although I wished to see more of them in their season, their love story was emotional and cute. I really really hope to see more of them in the next seasons, they're my favourite for ever!

Colin & Penelope are always going to be my favorite love story, and the fact that it was brought to life by Luke and Nicola was honestly something magical. It's the kind of magic you get so rarely between actors. It's almost as if fate played a role, as literally nobody else could ever be Colin or Pen. I love Brigerton as a whole of course, and im looking for to Benedict and Eloise's stories especially, but with the magic of Polin mixed in. But I definitely know that as long as they keep coming back to be Colin and Penelope, I'll keep watching ❤.

There are so many wonderful scenes with them, maybe you need to watch it again and concentrate on them. Both of them delivered one highlight after the other, so many personal little details! 😍 And their story will continue in season 4. Martial bliss is coming our way.

My absolute favorite leads, my favorite love story of Bridgerton. They put so much of themselves into this story and it is bittersweet having it end. I wish we got more of them this season, but I will be content with what we did get because it was beautiful nonetheless. I truly truly hope we see more of them because the love they have is so special both on and off screen.
Ugh, I love both Colin/Penelope and Luke/Nicola so much. Season 3 has been such a joy. 🥲
