  • Are you considering immigrating but unsure whether to choose Canada or the UK? This video provides an in-depth comparison of both countries' immigration systems, permanent residency options, and paths to citizenship.
Learn about the immediate benefits of landing in Canada, where you receive Permanent Residency upon arrival, versus the UK's initial immigrant visa which transitions to Indefinite Leave to Remain after five years. We delve into the pros and cons of each system, including the ease of obtaining citizenship, tax implications, and benefits for families.
The moment you land in Canada as an immigrant, you get the Canadian PR on the other hand, UK doesn’t give you PR rather provides you an immigrant visa, which you can convert to ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) after staying in the UK for a period of 5 years. So there is a huge difference in how the immigration systems works in both the countries.
Canada gives you more easy options to become Canadian Citizen (3 years) with moderate amount of taxes as compared to UK, where you have to pay hefty taxes and the period is 6 years before you can apply for UK Citizenship.
Both countries offer free education to children but when it comes to getting child benefits, you will get them once you get your Permanent Resident Card in Canada making it lot easier to survive in the tough initial period. In the UK, you won’t get any child benefits until you get the ILR, which is after 5 years.
In Canada, you don’t have to show minimum amount of wages but in the UK, you have to maintain minimum amount of salary (very high) to become eligible for the UK ILR. Not only that, in UK you have to pay huge amount of taxes which are almost half the amount in Canada.
UK has advantage over weather and proximity to Asian countries. Canada is snow white in winters and it rains most of the months for majority of days.
Canada requires lot of paperwork and high score in IELTS (Ontario as an example ), whereas in the UK you can get away with simple checklist of documents and considerably low IELTS score and less waiting time to get the visa. Meaning thereby to get into Canada is very difficult/ time consuming but once you are there your chances of becoming Canadian Citizen are very high and it works the other way around for UK.
    Hope it helps!
