    No dq500 swap? Might as well at that power level? I’m on vortex xl stock motor I went ahead and did the dq500 since my dq381 front diff failed and ruin the clutch pack, starter, and trans

    I just got my R back it made 687whp on a stock clutch dsg car. currently I ordered the Deca stage 3. Do you recommend going with the Dodson instead?

    Are you sure adding an icebox A2W is the way? Because albiet a really big FMIC is heavy, but the weight distribution of adding a massive water tank in the rear wouldn’t necessarily be lighter overall. Especially if it’s like a 2-3gallon tank lol. For the aspect of cooling consistency yeah, it works better in certain aspects but I don’t see A2W as simpler rather than just using less space.
    Also if you got the kahunas, you can cutout the front bumper or get one to butcher and make aero ducting for the FMIC, helps a lot for me

    • @JETLImk7
      @JETLImk7 4 місяці тому +1

      the weight of the new cooling setup would be a small sacrifice in comparison to its performance gain. These cars benefit a LOT from good airflow & cooling; the gains for power would overcome whatever weight the new cooling is even if it's something like +80lbs. I'm curious to see how the pressure drop will behave with his newer A2W setup.

    • @SportyMk7
      @SportyMk7  4 місяці тому +5

      Jet explained it well, the IAT gain alone would be worth the total 30lb gain from adding everything. 3 gallons is only about 18lb, having a cooler for ice etc is probably another 10lb on top of the 30lb. The current IAT vs what it could be as of the data right now suggests as much as a 80whp gain. That alone is a very bang for buck mod over an A2A setup. Also much more consistant which is what I’m all about with this car.

    Total side question, if on stock motor, where is the sweet spot to stop based on your experience if daily driving. Can you get by with Vortex or XL sized turbo, MPI and enjoy it with some longevity if you atay on top of maintenance? Seemed like you put some decent miles on your stock motor and beat on it pretty well... appeared to hold up but i don't have all the backstory im sure.

    • @SportyMk7
      @SportyMk7  4 місяці тому +3

      So ive been working at this for a while. best all around for daily is mid 400's. so hang between 450-480 for best overall 'fast' and reliable. go with a small enough turbo for that goal too which is imo TPC25. itll be low 8's high 7's 60-130. My Red GTI made that power, i had that car since new and sold it at 40k miles. probably 300+ races on that car alone and it was always the daily. once you get above say 520whp stock motor youll find yourself with more of a "race" car.
      best maintenance is always engine oil at 3-5000mi and trans fluid every 10k. spark plugs every oil change and coil packs every 10k. not much else to it.

    • @05pharmd
      @05pharmd 4 місяці тому

      @@SportyMk7 your awesome! Parts needed: intake, IC, DP, MPI + LPFP, flex sensor, turbo and tuning for that setup correct? I know you've recommended buying low mileage. If you can buy well maintained higher miles (80k) for 10k less, run til it blows then do built motor with the savings, is that a flawed idea?

    • @SportyMk7
      @SportyMk7  4 місяці тому +2

      @@05pharmd bare bones; mst intake, trackslag downpipe, rs3 brushless lpfp, TPC25, any form of 980cc mpi, any form of intercooler. your choice of tuners and e85.
      imo any car under 50k miles is usually decent for those power goals. but nothing more without the risk going way up

      Jewels is running a vortex xl with all due respect when this car is done a xl is not competition to it. James from eqt has a eqt typhoon turbo fully built gti. That car might be a better match up. Or Matt with his 800 hp AWD swap gti. Is38 hybrids stock motor cars running 7s 60-130 is a waste of time for this car to race.

      Specifically the DQ381’s. Pretty much the same as a DQ500 but without the long gearing. Same clutch design, same case, gears are made out of the same material, etc.
