Dear 2050: Waiting for water’s future to come to us was not a strategy

A better water future won’t just happen automatically. It will require vision, strategy, planning, and collaboration. With this in mind, AWWA’s Water 2050 initiative has been charting a course toward a long-term sustainable and successful future of water.
At ACE23, letters penned by 10 water leaders will be placed in a time capsule addressed to the water community of 2050. Collectively, these letters address key themes from Water 2050.

In his time capsule letter, AWWA CEO David LaFrance wrote:
“Waiting for the future to come to us was not a strategy. So instead, we brought together influential and diverse thinkers to intentionally create a framework for a sustainable, innovative, inclusive, well-governed, and economically sound water future. I hope we were able to deliver a better future to you.”
