    Smh, you guys lmao.

      This video, while good intentioned and researched pretty well, was not as well executed as it should have been. Lonzo is marginally worse than Fultz in the areas he is worse in, but with his style of play, I think he'll transition incredibly well. The one thing to worry about - pick and roll play - will come along, as Ball has had little experience with the set at Chino Hills and UCLA.
      All that being said, the one problem I had with the video was the glossing over of the defending. That was far too simplistic. Ball has a tendency to get beaten off the dribble; but he is excellent at recovering and patrols the passing lanes well with his length and size. Fultz is not as explosive defensively, but he is a more consistent defender.
      Who do I think is more worthy of a #1 slot? Ball. He's marginally worse right now. But the few holes in his game look to be patched up easily, while Fultz looks to be polished and seems to have less to expand upon.

      Lonzo is marginally worse than Fultz at finishing in the paint and taking contested jumpers? You gotta be delusional...due to Fultz's ability to make contest shots and finish with various techniques at the rim, pull up from the mid range, even at taking 3s, the two aren't even close. You could argue that Lonzo is better than Fultz at drive and dish and several other things such as surveying the court and directing traffic, but to say Lonzo is marginally worse than Fultz in the areas he is worse in, that would not be a fair assessment.

      Lonzo can't shoot the midrange, he's not quick going to the basket, can't pull up at all going right. These are not easy fixes.
      Also, what kind of idiocy is that "he's more polished so he has less upside" line of thinking. Fultz can do many things well, he can expand on every one of those and become unstoppable, become a better shooter with training, or a better floor general with added experience. Lonzo has some fatal flaws he won't be able to do much about, unless he brings his damn elbow on the correct side of his face, and he has shown no intention do do so.

    In what possible way do people still think Lonzo is better than Markelle? It's complete arrogance now if you think Lonzo is a better talent. Washington will do more for Markelle's NBA career than UCLA will do for Lonzo's career. Washington ran an NBA style offense which will transition well for Markelle in the NBA. Lonzo's gonna have to put in some serious work this offseason if he doesn't want people coming at his neck next year, especially if the Lakers draft him. Markelle can hold his own.

    lonzo seems more like a pure pg than a flat out natural scorer, despite his huge range.
    weirdly, because of that, he might actually be best served if his stock drops, and a team with more talent drafts him; that way, there will be more finishers around him for him to pass to, and more great 1on1 defenders to cover him until he learns decent nba defense.

    All this really depends on is what a team needs, You need someone to bring the team together and lead them, then take Zo. If you want a scoring guard that can do it all, take Fultz it ain't that hard. Let these NBA teams decide, Lonzo and Fultz are both great players with room to grow, you can't compare the two accurately just yet.

  • @tayottt
    @tayottt 7 років тому +2

    This video summarizes most of the reason I'd much prefer Fultz. He's a super safe pick. His offensive toolbox is too strong for him to fail and when you start out at such a high skill level with athleticism, the sky is the limit. Ball seems to have had a transformational effect at UCLA but I think the coaching staff did a great job of hiding his weaknesses (keeping him largely on the left side of the court, surrounding him with good spacing and athletes, etc.), and being in college helped him as well. At the NBA level teams will force him right and test the jumper (which I have my doubts about).
    What's not in the video is that when forced right Ball can still finish and makes great passes, but still I don't think defenses will be afraid of him. He's great in transition, but in a half court NBA situation I don't think it will be easy for him to quarterback the offense. Best case for Ball would be to get drafted by the Celtics or Sixers. Both teams allow him to ease into his NBA role with multiple better players on the team that the opposing team will either be scared of (Embiid, Thomas) or respect (Simmons, Saric, Bradley, Horford). If he ends up in LA or Sacramento (God forbid) he's cooked. Too much responsibility and expectation to be a savior could be death.
    Fultz on the other hand can fit in anywhere. Most of Fultz weaknesses are the result of being too talented (lazy/lethargic at times/settling too much) or too curious (trying things that aren't smart in a team context but could help his overall game later). He's the best PG prospect since Wall and has upside to be a better version of Chris Paul.

  • @rafaelzamot42
    @rafaelzamot42 7 років тому +3

    I Think this is all about who gets the 1st pick... if lakers do, i'd go with Lonzo because, that seems to be the piece that LA is missing and let's be honest, DeAngelo Russell loves to shoot (even though he's great at the point) , and he could be great at shooting guard and Lonzo could be the one running the offense.
    But if Boston gets the first pick, I'd go with Markelle because they already have Thomas that is outstanding at the point and could use a good help at the offensive load that's where Fultz could help them a lot at the two spot.

  • @AlphaDwg
    @AlphaDwg 7 років тому

    Great video i subscribed. I feel the exact same way about these two. To me Ball has the potential to be star in the right spot. Like really special lead a team to a championship type stuff. But Fultz is going to be great wherever he goes. His game translates to any system, any style of play. Both should be the top two picks and if I was the Lakers or Twolves and I had the top Pick it would be Ball. But for most other teams it would be Fultz.

    Marcelle Fultz is a better scorer and better defender when he tries. Keep in mind that he is not able to show his defensive talent because of such a big offensive load he needs to do for Washington which really drains his energy. Lonzo Ball is a better playmaker and has better intangibles but he will struggle scoring at the next level. Although he has shown good shooting percentages, his jumpshot mechanics will cause problems in the NBA because of how long it takes and how much his feet move foward. NBA teams are smart enough to close out. I say Markelle Fultz is better because his scoring and defense. He's also shown good worth ethic because he got cut from his varsity team freshmen and sophomore year and proved the coaches wrong.

  • @CelticsBirdsUnited97
    @CelticsBirdsUnited97 7 років тому +3

    If celtics get fultz and lakers get ball it works out perfectly. Celtics don't need a leader who has great court vision. They need a flat out scorer to help IT. Markelle looks like a lillard-type player, except he can be a solid on-ball defender. Ball is a Rondo-esque player, with incredible pace and feel for the floor. He will make the right pass to spur the offense. He is a great backcourt teammate for DeAngelo Russell. I hope Boston gets Fultz with 1 and Lakers get Ball with 2. It might be the next great BOS-LAL rivalry.

    Fultz definitely has less bust potential he will most definitely become an effective player in this shoot first guard type league. But Ball is the one with HOF potential! How often do you see a talented athletic pass first guard in today's NBA? Players like Kidd, Nash, Stockton and CP3 are all time greats because they're team first players who care about winning rather than being selfish like most guards in this league. He can elevate the Lakers from being one of the worst teams in the league to a potential playoffs team next season and playoffs contender in the future

    LONZO CAREER HIGH IS 29 POINTS
    FULTZ HAS A CAREER HIGH OF 16 POINTS
    LONZOS STATS: 10 points, 5 assists 5 rebounds
    fultz stats: 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists
    lonzo ball also plays much better defense then fultz now.
    lonzo ball also has a 3 point percentage of 32.7
    fultz has a percentage of 28.6
    so that means lonzo ball is better than markelle fultz.

    The more detailed the dive, the more it will favor Fultz' well-rounded game. The big questions are whether Ball's strengths, while fewer, are *too* strong to be denied; and whether, at the end of the day, Fultz is good-stats-bad-team or a real star. Either way, it's a real interesting time to be a basketball fan.

      UCLA won the 1st matchup, but I'd still say that Fox outplayed Ball, esp. since Ball had 6 TOs that game...

    Gr8 video, but u ruined it at the end by saying Ball cld be something we've never seen b4. How do u come to that conclusion after listing his cons?

    alright, although the majority of the time i wait till the video is over before i say something, but 4:06 in i had to stop it read some of they recent comments tag to the video to see where it's going. now from what i see it's how it should be not many one word answers but actually explanations to why they think what they think, although some of the comments may be biased they still consider all aspects of the persons game. now although i dont follow it as much and this video popped up in my recommended list it seems to be well put together in the aspect of what is need in a persons game in order to compare these two. so its a great job in part of being made and the responses to the video. now i know that long ass explanation did debate the video and doesnt pertain to it, but i will say this exposure wise lavar is the only reason i know who lonzo and his brothers are because i dont follow that much and markelle which is and awesome name, its spelled a little different but its also my younger brothers name. i got side tracked there but good job on the video, and i really couldnt tell who the better player is cause i literally havent watched of their games even with this breakdown to pick my say. sorry down below if you think im stupid or dumb in not picking a certain person based on this video but you can agree since i like to make informed decisions if im gonna both say and back it up. EVERY DRINK AND BE MARY!!!!! CHARLIE MURPHY!!!!!!

    looking back at this, i'd give lonzo the edge on pick & roll and defense, both have improved exponentially since entering the league

    Fultz is the better prospect. He's way more polished. The people who are hyper focused on the records of UCLA and Washington are missing what matters... who the better NBA prospect is. Point out a flaw in Fultz game if you can that will be a fatal NBA flaw.
    - He can shoot from 3
    - He has a smooth looking shot with good mechanics
    - He has a deadly array of midrange moves and ways to get open in Iso
    - He's a good passer
    - He has elite measurables at 6'4 with a 6'10 wingspan
    - He runs the pick and roll like a veteran
    - He can drive left or right and finish at the rim with his left or right hand
    - He has the tools of a top defender
    - He's a great athlete
    - He plays with good pace
    - He can play on ball or off ball and PG or SG
    What is he missing? What's the flaw? Ball could be great but he has flaws.

    Fultz better defender? I'll agree with you in every other area but to say he plays "solid defense" is a stretch. He gets beat off the dribble regularly as well.
    Also, Fultz is listed at 6'4" while Ball is listed at 6'6". I know official listings are questionable, but what inside info do you have on Fultz's height?

    Absolutely agreed with everything in this video. Ball is very good, but overhyped. His form is bad despite good percentages, because to be a great shooter in the NBA you have to be able to shoot both contested shots and shots of the dribble.

    OF COURSE, Fultz is better. He was last night's first overall pick and Ball was the 2nd. Let's see the Lakers play the Sixers next season, and what happens in the head-to-head matchup. Let's see who will still be there in 10 years. Let's see which one will have the better heart to lead their team to the NBA Finals.

    One guy lead his team to the Sweet 16 while the other struggled to win his team 9 games... Total, all season.
    Ball is better.

    They both are going to places that fit them, fultz to sixers, where he doesn't need to lead, and ball(most liekly) to lakers, where they need someone to lead them.

    Fultz is a modern day scoring pg like most pgs nowadays but Ball is a old school vintage pg pass first makes his teammates better around him
