    Talking about replacing your tires reminded me of a joke,
    What does a well dressed man and a unicycle have in common?
    A tire.

    What a great build! It has almost all the points in it that I would build in mine. Currently doing an upgrage, repower and total remodel on my 37' 1989 Fleetwood Limited Class A RV here in Texas. I've been threatening the wife that I'm going to scrap the big rig, strip out all the solid oak cabinetry and put most of it in a 24' Isuzu FSR truck and convert it to 4 wheel drive. We use our Camper as a base camp for off roading adventures, and if I could convert the big FERD RV to 4WD without costing me an arm and a leg I'd do it. But my RV is just too tall and top heavy as it is. Would be nice to be able to dry camp away from everyone in a rig like yours....
    I am impressed on how you load your scooter. So much simplier and lightweight. The porch and steps are a nice touch too! I like how the legs can be extended to work with the varying terrain levels under the camper. And the landing I've always though is a nice touch. Especially since you can hold onto the truck body while ascending or decending. Saw one build where the landing was almost 4'x 4' and his steps pivoted out from underneath and accordianed out to the ground. Yours looked a like it was a lot less to go wrong and the steps were always the same distance apart.
    The interior is well thought out too! The only thing for us is we both get up to go to the bathroom through the night so much, having to crawl over each other multiple times a night would be a hassle. (Old age will do that to you :) ) Our RV has the headboard at the rear wall and we have enough walk space to be able to stand beside the bedside to get in and out of it without distrubing our partner.
    If you folks ever get to North America and are planning on passing through North Texas plan on swinging by and visit. (Rhome, TX) Also, I've got a big, well set up shop (3000 sqft commercial bldg behind the house) and would love to assist you if you need to fix something. (Hook ups and dump station too!) Not much mechanically I can't do out in my Man Cave. (Welding, hydraulics, cabnitry, solar stuff, electrical, engines, and transmissions. Even motorcycles and 4X4;s) And my wife and I would love to visit. I know there are always times on the road where something just needs to be addressed and finding a place to work on it can be a hassle. Been There, Done That!!
    Color me subscribed!

      @TheGapDecaders  Рік тому +1

      Wow, what an offer, thank you 😀. We are planning on doing the America's so stand by for a visit 🤣.
      We're not on dissimilar pathways, we've had a couple of large European motorhomes but always wanted to go that bit further and stay in the wilderness for longer, hence the truck.
      Although it's much smaller, it’s easily big enough for two people full timing, although we very nearly didn’t buy it due to the transverse bed (as we too are old 😁) but it's actually working out ok.
      That sounds like one heck of a build, liking the sound of the Isuzu project. We've definitely learnt a lot on the road, keep it simple and as lightweight as possible, although we see gorgeous rigs on our travels some are plaqued by electrical issues, sensors halting play, actuator's playing up on steps, making it a real hassle.
      Anyway, the internets an amazing thing and to you all the way in Texas, we say thank you and really enjoyed your comment & kind offer. 🙏😀

    Fantastic job, expensive to build and run though I'd imagine.

    • @TheGapDecaders
      @TheGapDecaders  4 місяці тому +2

      Hi Brian, it really depends on the spec of the build.
      Things like glass windows are expensive and yes, running costs are reasonably high... 10-15mpg depending on terrain and how you drive and consumables are usually bigger mean everything costs more (particularly tyres). thank you 👍🏻☺

      @@TheGapDecaders Morning you're welcome 😀 I don't know much about these big trucks & motorhomes (you obviously do...) but I love them.
      I have an old Land Rover Defender from 1995 with zero electronics, the guys at STEPSOVER do know these trucks very well, they also have extensive videos on how they built their MAN camper van and why they used the solutions they did, only "problem" is it is all in Italian 😂

      😂😂 Who knew Montenegro (Europe) was going to have a crazy heatwave, not quite as bad as Turkey Sep last year at 44 degrees with zero wind, that was unpleasant. Hence the definite hab a/c in the new rig.

      @@TheGapDecaders 😂🤣😂🤣 I hope it will actually be a heat pump (as they call it in the US). That's what I have in Turkey and I use it more to heat when its like 10 15 outside than to cool.

    Hi! Lovely rig! One question: how do you deal with the clambering over to go to the toilet at night when you’re in bed? I promise this is a genuine question. With love, Ken

    • @TheGapDecaders
      @TheGapDecaders  7 місяців тому

      Hi Ken it's Izzy here - I'm the one that does the clambering! It was a concern because I did get up in the night every night, but I stumbled upon an article about how that's not normal (unless you have a condition) so I trained my bladder not to need a night time wee. I took about 2 weeks and now I very rarely get up so theres no clambering required ;)

    Nice video. Thanks. Small question: what is the height in the cell. And the use of the gas stove does not generate too much humidity. Thanks again for the visit, it gives us lots of ideas for the construction of our truck (but it's not for now :(

    • @TheGapDecaders
      @TheGapDecaders  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Xavier the box is 2.5m high, that includes 120mm of insulation in the floor and 80mm in the roof. We always have a roof light and window open when cooking - for humidity but also because the gas heats up the box really quickly, and even in winter we end up being to hot!
